    Guys, this is a super important part of this and any quality build. To add to the benifits listed in the video, this secures the enclosure to the vehicle preventing theft (or at least adds a considerable amount of time - the only thing a thief doesn't want to take)
    Additionally, this is what we call "semi-permenent" meaning for all purposes this enclosure will act as part of the vehicle for as long as the owner wants it to be a part of the vehicle. But when/if the enclosure is ever removed, no permanent modification had been done to the vehicle and the back seat can go in just as before. This is always a preferred installation technique over cutting, or drilling holes, in factory parts.

    My sub mount was the 3rd row seat 💺 bracket for my caravan. It kept it in place and was easily removable with some quick disconnect power cables from a forklift 🍴 the amp and cap were mounted the the setup so the only other thing was my rca cables from the head unit. Great 👍🏼 and convenient setup. The 3rd seat also had wheels when not mounted in the old 92 caravan. LoL easy to move around the shop as I needed the space from time to time.

    You should do a video on how to securely mount a box but make it removable. Sometimes I need to use my trunk for larger items or use the pass-through, but I don't want my box flying around if I need to suddenly maneuver or slam on breaks.
    I was thinking of using ratchet straps around the box looping through bars bolted to the car frame. I could even put metal handles on the box itself to loop the straps through (and for carrying).

I can't reach the other side of where it's screwed in to, if i remember correctly there is a chassis bar pretty much blocking access but there is a good 2 ~ 3 inches between the fiberglass and the chassis bar.

    I was googling this the other day.
    Your advice is the opposite of the very limited info I could find on the internet-
    You say it's better to rigidly attach the enclosure to the vehicle to improve acoustics, rather than decouple it from the chassis with some special mat or convoluted mount?

    • @UniCrafter
      @UniCrafter 5 лет назад +1

      Its one of those things, mount it super firmly so the mass of the enclosure adds to the chassis, or isolate it to avoid vibrations/other noise. A proper firm mount is hard to get, so instead of a half firm mount, isolated can work better.

    what is your opinion on making a port through the rear deck for allowing more flow through the cabin vs being absorbed by the seats? Instead of folding down the seats

    • @mikeberndt181
      @mikeberndt181 Год назад

      It’s one of the better things you can do. The reflection forward off the glass makes the sub so clean and efficient. When doing this don’t face the sub’s backwards. Face them foreword towards the rear seats & seal the front of the box off from the trunk. You won’t have to Dynomat the trunk & the subs will be louder because you decreased the cars total air volume. Any other time you face the subs backwards because the sound wave can travel longer distance and not cancel out vs facing forward. But isolation the trunk from the cab and porting through the read deck is the equivalent of adding an additional sub. Isolating the trunk makes it like you have it in the trunk facing backwards vs foreword with the benefit of being in phase with the other speakers.

    • @Dman199739
      @Dman199739 5 лет назад

      Depends on what the final impedance of the woofer ends up. If you can wire the woofer to 2ohm then the 1125 watts rms for a 950 watts rms woofer is perfect. Rms is just the base line you want to hit. Running a woofer underpowered can cause some damage. Not as extreme like overpowering a woofer but still causes issues. Not bashing your purchasing choice but boss audio is not a reputable brand. I took a look at the amp you bought and I EXTREMELY doubt that it hits anywhere near the rated power.

      Boss amp. Unless you can verify its putting out those numbers 😳
      There's no sub $100 amp that I know that will push out that amount of power.

    Great video, but I don't think that's technically called a transfer punch. Just a spring loaded center punch.
    Transfer punches come in sets of various, specific diameters and are used to transfer precise hole positions through a template or the mating piece. They are extremely hand and can be found cheaply at harbor freight.

    I just installed my first system. It is an easy install but I have a problem: when I click the buttons and make selections on the head unit or change songs on a CD, my subs thump and it sounds terrible. I have checked all my wiring and it is all in par, so I am confused. Anyone know anything that would help me?

      @@br00talhonesty I did figure it out actually. Inside my amp where the negative terminal is soldered to the motherboard was barely soldered at all.
      So I did a minor repair and fixed the soldered joint and my problem was then fixed.

    I call BS. While it might be a safety issue to have an unsecured box in an open (not trunk) vehicle it’s not going to make any “noticeable” difference in sound quality. I encourage you to show any testing proving otherwise. Boxes with subs in them are very heavy and are planted with carpet to carpet contact. They would have to vibrate themselves back and forth quite a bit to negatively affect bass resonance which they would only do if on rollers on hard floors. But if you’re bored go for it it won’t hurt.

      Naw, Jerry Bone. He would've broke the weld on the seat mount, repositioned the seat mount and re-welded it to accommodate the first set of holes he drilled in the aluminum bar. Then he would've made about 5 cracks about Rafa's mom, 2 give aways (one being the waste slag from the original factory welds and the other a rag of his sweat) and had 3 explosions just during the test fit of the box mounts!! LOL!!!!!! P.S. I still love Doug's vids as well as Mark's.

    If the box isnt secured...
    1. Loose acoustic energy.
