SUPER helpful, thank you! For the fix you start talking about at 3:26, the setting is in a different place in my current version 7.09: REAPER > Settings > Zoom/Scroll/Offset (under "Appearance"). Options within the drop-down windows are the same, but the Vertical zoom one is just called "Track under mouse." Thanks again!
I have literally been looking for all of these options for years (knowing that they exist somewhere, but not being able to find them). I was giving up too quick because ultimately it isn't a huge issue for a single day of work... but the time lost adds up over several projects. Thanks Leandro!
Fantastic video. This feels like it should be the default for macOS with trackpad. Maybe they should have a setup wizard on startup that will set this for you based on some questions or better yet - if they detect certain peripherals.
Man i'm watching this video everytime i re-install reaper for any reason. Very helpful, insomuch that i even decided to download this video on my ssd to make sure i will have access to that information whenever i want! Thanks a lot)
I switched from Acid Pro (been using this software since the Sonic Foundry days to Sony and now quite dissappointing Magix), this really helps me feel at home with these adjustments so thank you so much :)
Thank you so much for this video! Without this, I would not understand how to properly configure. Why doesn't Reaper make these settings default? Is it the most intuitive and convenient? Thanks again for the video!
Thanks for the kind words. > Why doesn't Reaper make these settings default? Is it the most intuitive and convenient? I don’t know why the defaults are what they are, but I can take a guess: From an applications perspective it may be difficult to tell whether your pointing device is a mouse, touchpad, or something else. Specially when we’re talking about a cross-platform application such as REAPER, which works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. If that’s the case, it makes sense to optimize the defaults for mouse, which is what most people use. Whatever the case may be, REAPER allows us to configure everything so that it works well in the end.
How do you right-drag with your trackpad? I just got a trackpad and I love it, especially three-finger dragging for left-drag. I'd love if I could four-finger drag for right-drag. I already use the ctrl button for some mouse modifiers from my Magic Mouse days, and I'd prefer to keep those intact if I can.
I use Ctrl. I enabled the option REAPER Preferences > Editing Behavior > Mouse > Control+left-click emulates right-click (control key will be unavailable as a modifier). Naturally, if you want to keep your mouse modifiers (and keyboard shortcuts that use Ctrl, for that matter), that isn’t an option for you. Maybe you can get used to two-finger click-and-drag (though I didn’t).
I recorded the video in 6.13, but I just checked 6.14 on macOS and the option is still there. It isn’t surprising that these UI tweaks are different in different operating systems.

so thankful, this really made my Reaper learning experience much more enjoyable!
So happy to have found a way to change the trackpad from being inverted, thanks a ton!

Wonderful! Thank you. I'm using these suggestions with a Magic Mouse.
Man, thank you so much! That's exactly what I was looking for

Hi! Many thanks for sharing this! Do you know how to apply same settings to Reaper's MIDI Editor?
I should try it with my Trackball. I'm under Windows, but this operation still unconfortable as you shown for the Mac

Is there a fix for the MIDI editor as well?
any suggestions for how to map vertical zoom to a touchpad gesture?

on WIn version 6.14 the Throttle mouse Wheel option is not there
