I'm building a 2.8 myself,my factory one has spun bearing, I was thinking about doing my block blue to match my 2 tone truck and I think I'm going to now after seeing yours, I order the 4x4 headmans also, oh and ol JB that's my boy right there, I love his lil trash truck! 😂 Good looking motor brother!
Yeah with problems I've had with these especially early 82-85 2.8s and bearings I'm gonna go ahead and get my backup engine ready just in case while I have time that way it won't take so long to swap . It's a 92 2.8 from a pickup i had 337,000 miles not a dang thing wrong with it either if that's the correct mileage . I pulled it and scrapped the truck but thinking back wish I had it cause I could make that a fun toy for drag strip
Definitely . I Already have two fans I picked up from the junkyard and yea some people may say I wouldn't risk it but they work just fine so I'm going to see what happens save some $ and i definitely need something to keep it cooler and definitely the transmission temperatures need to be cooler as well . I always worry about the radiator breaking and sending coolant into the transmission I've seen that so many times and it ruins a transmission. A good aluminum radiator would be a nice upgrade as well . Take sway this clutch fan would help a bit on gas mileage but also get up and go
The black painted rims with the red stripe sounds like it will look good. I’m interested in seeing what it will look like on your truck. Hopefully I will see on your next video.
Definitely I seen one guy do it off of Facebook and that's where I got the idea from and actually it was for another youtuber as well lol . I'll try to get some video content on that painting the wheels , however the S10 is hurt and needs some work that's all I'm going to say and ehh it's not too good but the video will be out soon of what happened and it's partly kind of my fault and then I'd say the other 50% could be a already going problem but didn't show up till what I did to it
JB took a sawazall and cut that tab off his auto, I have a 5 speed so I will not have that problem I also had to buy the trans adapte oil filter relocater I could not find a 4x4 housing, I'm a welder fabricator so I'm gonna make them work, I believe cerakot will help you with some of your heat problems, I'm gonna look into wrapping the lower 1/3 of my header's to help with heat on the floor pans and I will make a heat shield for any that is real close, I know this is gonna be a SOB when I do mine but I will jump the heardals as they come, wish I local I would help you, wr could make it work, you need to hit JB up like I did, he has a few videos on his header issues that would really help you out, don't give up!!
Yeah I've been thinking about 5-speed swapping mine for a long time now just because it's cheaper to replace unlike an automatic and less problems . I'd rather tear up a clutch than a dang transmission clutches or something like that and dont have to run trans lines to the radiator too be a clear look more room Been thinking about selling my headers there's one guy that's interested and there's a video that's going to be coming out soon that talks about this because something happened to my transmission
Yeah really did not want to cut the transmission like that I'm afraid of it causing a spider effect or something else definitely did not want to be a cut the transmission up like he did
Yeah cutting on em is pretty janky but if theres no other way then do what ya got to, he has that blower so he needs headers, I ported my heads so I kinda have to, especially if I do the 4.3 TBI swap, I really want a 390 holley so it's more tunable, I think gonna buy the summit chip for the puter , I'm trying to squeeze a few extra HPs , I'm keeping my eyes out for a 3.4, there getting rare
@@troybrake5686Some reason I didn't see this last comment but yeah I definitely would like a 3.4 in it my self they are way better design and less issues unlike the old 2.8 from 1980-85 models . Now that I have swapped to a 5speed manual it's like a night and day difference not sure I'd you had seen that vid or not but it's a world of a difference and way more torque , the engine just seems more happy now and I have some other goodies for the engine side getting installed 😬
@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 that's awesome! I seen were Walmart had OBX stainless headers for 2wd 2.8 now and they was on sale for like less than 200, I didn't pick a set up but I'm still thinking about it! Of course they made a set after i got the 4x4 headers!
They say the header paint will last a little while but will eventually rust, I'm going to order the cerakot for 100 bones cause I don't want to pull them back out in 2 yrs to repaint, but I'm gonna start taking my truck to shows next summer so I want it to be clean AF
Awesome that's good to hear because I hope it lasts a lot longer than the other paint that I used can't stand to have something rust or fade away after working so hard to make it look good . I also take mine to car shows not just for like making it pretty or something but just to have people go well that is a nice truck or that's different a lot of people think it's a V8 and I'm like nope 😆
Yeah the 82-85 has the same exact setup with timing cover problems , bearing & crank issues failures . The 86-93 was a way better design so for now on after this I am not dealing with another 82-85 anymore especially with how hard it was to get part it's way better and easier to get parts for the later-model and there's less likely of spun bearings and problems lol
I like that HF blanket, I got a ton of em just for stuff like this
Oh yeah!
Looks and sounds great man!!👍👍
Thanks , alot of long nights on this one that's for sure well paid off in the end glad it's done

Great video brother. And an electric cooling fans would be dope. I put those in my 91 with a aluminum becool radiator. What a difference.

@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 can you post a video of you vaccuum set up
don’t forget plz
the metal beads look like sand blasting media of some sort

I'll try to get a video on just that I've had several ask about the vacuum lines and setup on these or how I have mine done
paint that black grill silver, do not paint the rims black, black rims /grill then paint the whole thing black
