Is this a flamenco cajon? I built my own Meinl cajon but it doesn't sound nearly as interesting. Pretty much sounds like a hollow box with a slight hint of snare. Any advice?
the Meinl DIY cajon is very basic and the sound is not good. I don't recommend this cajon. The cajons I use are from the Artisan line that is carefully made in Spain by professional cajons makers. It's difficult to compare. But if you want a decent first cajon The Meinl Snarecraft or the Schlagwerk 2in1 are good options. Hope it helps.
