Very VERY helpful! I’m a drummer for over 40 years but new Cajonist. Now I’m back to practicing like I did as a teenager and it works! (Faster than it used to!) 👊🏼 Thanks!
This video was awesome. I grew up with a husband who played drums professionally. I would occasionally get on the drums and I taught myself very basic beats . These days I am alone and in a small apartment. I still love percussion . Also this will keep me focused I’m going to buy one tomorrow….oh by the way I’m 70 years old….thank you for a great video to help me learn a new instrument…..blessings
Hey, Filipe! This is great and is very much similar to how I practice drumming on a practice pad. Would be great to have something like repeat along warm-ups, technique builders and so on... Love your courses! Keep up with this amazing channel, thank you!
Hi! I'm from Argentina, i came to your channel by a RUclips Short and love your videos.. i'm a drummer since high school (i'm 45 now) and a cajón player for small venues or unplugged gigs, i play cajón from almost 10 years now.... great videos!!..thanx
@@CajonMaster I never study cajon, i just buy it, and start to transfer the music that i play in drums to the cajon sounds... so similar to your video when you transfer drums to cajon... but, beside this, your video really helps me to improve my skills in the cajon ... thanx... great videos..
@@CajonMaster I have a Peruvian/Flamenco Cajon, with wires, if you left them with no tense, sounds like Peruvian... tensing the wires, sounds like Flamenco... i like much more de Flamenco sounds... its more open and powerfull... and more full for unplugged shows, also use a tambourine in my feet, but a normal tambourine...
Thank you Felipe for this video! I started cajon with your videos and following you again and again to improve! I tried to recognize and play cajon beats of my favorite songs but I will definitely try the creative part because until now I had no clue about how to do it!
Thank you for answering my question regarding playing without hurting my fingers ! I have played in public a few times in church and on the street . It always goes well but results in my fingers swelling and hurting . I will try some of your suggestions . Thanks again Godbless
Thanks so much for your videos. They are informative and you are fun to listen to. I have one question though. I am not sure if you have already covered it. Can you have a video explaining how to read the 'tabs' you provide for different groove videos?
Very helpful video! I just ordered my first Cajon drum the other day and have been watching your videos while waiting for it (should be here today!). When you said it's not about how long you practice, but how focused and consistent you are, it reminded me of something my old high school band director would say that has stuck with me for 20 years. He used to say "practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. You can practice wrong for an hour and all you did was get better at playing something the wrong way". Looking forward to learning more using your videos!
Very helpful, Felipe. I really like your idea, to "plan" creativity systematically. I'm always really helpless, when I try to improvise something. Maybe your daily routine will help. Thank you so much for this wonderful new video.
Agree, good way to practice. I struggle most at the creative part, easy to stay in old habits. But the reason for that could also be to not to do enough the first part ;)
thankyou for the advice and lesson, whats ur favorite song to practice with ? can you give me some from diffrent genre ? like latin, pop/funk, or groove so that i can make my skill upgrade . :) thankyou , God Bless you
Hi, very good way to practice is to record/film yourself. If you want to record. Here is a video explaining my mic set up ruclips.net/video/dvO2MhSYrl8/видео.html Let me know what do you think ;)
I’m trying to learn how to play cajón while singing. Bossanova style it’s the harder rhythm to keep while singing Could you give some tip about to do it???
Hey man thank you for all the content. Could you give me a quick overview on benefits between the subwoofer jumbo bass and vertical subwoofer cajons from meinl? I'm interested in the jumbo but I'm not sure if the vertical one has different benefits. Haven't found a video comparing the two and I'm close to making the purchase. Thanks!
I don't know much about the vertical subwoofer. The Jumbo is a great one if you are looking for a powerful and precise sound. Here is my review of the jumbo - ruclips.net/video/-1yLbsZghB8/видео.html
Hey Cajon Master, can you do a reaction video on this Black Veil Brides acoustic performance wherein they used a cajon in a unique way. The cajon pedal was on the side and instead of the drummer sitting on the cajon, he was playing on top of it. Heres a link
Learn the new grooves and fills and then apply it in the routine. This plan of 30min a day is a maintenance plan to keep going and don’t get bored or lost with no direction. If you would like to practice the material from the courses and include it inside the plan, I advise you to add 10 or 15min more. The goal of this plan is to make practice fun and consistent. Hope it makes sense ;) thanks for sharing your thoughts 😉

Great lesson. I'm a congas, bongo, and other minor percussion player but new to Cajon and your teaching is excellent.
Welcome aboard!

Have you, or will you do videos introducing nylon stick techniques? Like the Vater Monsters for example.
Yes I will do a video with cajon brushes soon 😉🙏

thanks for the help i needed it and i will try to do it every day. but would i be able to do like an hour each day instead?
Yes you can! The important thing is to practice a little bit every day. If you can do 1h, perfect 👍🏻
What's a good mic to record Cajon? Seems like a good thing to record yourself during practise and in general.

Thank you!! Should I try with music that has no already drums or something???
yes, it;s also a good a idea. You can use the drum part as reference ;)
Very nice tips
Thanks really good and useful as always 👍
Just one thing:
What is the pattern you used in the part 1?
It's a groove I've posted before inside the cajon groove library - ruclips.net/video/AOtd0PfOE_4/видео.html
Such great tips, thank you!

I guess I would also include that I would be interested in adding a pedal down the line. I really liked your cocktail kit video.

@Cajon Master if you haven't felt the need to try it out by now I can assume it does not compare to the jumbo bass lol. Thank you for your feedback!
Thanks a lot man. Kudos
You're welcome!
I love this guy!!!!!

1) Review, 2) Creative, and 3) with music. I have the Fill/Grooves 2 bundle. When would you learn new grooves and practice with the course material?
