I heard this song a few months back and really wanted to make something for it. So, after 3 weeks and like 1000 repeats of this song, here it is! The result of my impulsive decision!!
Characters are from my personal project, The Last Familiar. I don't want to spoil too much about it, so feel free to interpret the events of the animatic as you'd like.
I'll be posting more concepts and stuff about TLF on my accounts, so feel free to follow me if you're interested in learning more about these characters and their world!

I'm totally floored by the response this video's gotten, thank you all so much for the lovely comments!! And just to answer a question I've seen a lot - these characters are from an animatic series I'm working on called "The Last Familiar". He probably had it cut off during either a battle with an enemy kingdom or by accident when he was going on a rampage when he was transformed into a beastman. When he looks at his reflection in that chain blade, it showed that he had a form that looked like something similar to Beast’s form from Beauty and the Beast.

@David Szczepanski Nope, several differences, Skin color is much darker in the reflection, looks like it had horns at the edge of the reflection and the biggest difference is the reflection had slitted eyes, the soldier guy has normal eyes. But still, good theory.
One detail I love about this is the fact that your antagonist only has one arm. Lately there have been a few characters that have lost a limb, but in most of those situations, they get a real powerful prosthetic. But your character clearly doesn't even need one. And that just makes him even more of a badass. Keep up this great work!

My favorite part is when the girl says "save my family" and shows the villain. Even without knowing the original characters where the song comes from the song implies that the family is the captive. It is a beautiful twist.

How do you even make an animatic? I've been wanting to make one for so long but I can't figure it out!
@@alexisblack8921 Look up animation tutorials on RUclips they'll give you a pretty basic idea. Generally you'll want to havw some kind of drawing or animation software where you can insert audio and sync up the drawings with it. If you don't have access to that you can try drawing it separately and matching them up with the audio after, but it's much easier match movements, and lip flaps with the audio built in. I hope this helped good luck, friend!

@@user-rh4vi1wr4m When it comes to adding audio depends on what program you are using. Most have a built in feature for adding it. To download the audio you can copy the link from a youtube video then put it through a RUclips to MP3 converter then download it.

I'm an artist, depending if you have free time, this would take forever to do if you wanna make it look nice and clean, also depends how fast you at drawing, also if you have help from others for cleaning, shading and everything xD

I love the animatic! The details have really nice touches, with the flash of his arm being gone, the wedding ring necklaces, the way the sword works, etc! But...I still can't get over how my favorite part at 1:17 with all those soldiers just BURSTING in with," WE'RE READY!" It made me laugh so hard xDDD(In a good way). Very nice work!

Though this is your first animatic, you executed each frame/scene perfectly, and with every little dettail you had put in each frame/scene you did it with an outsanding job. Though i am curious, why isn't this viral yet? Most animatics are mediocre and and some don't even have the details you had put in this animatic, the shading and your color scheme is wonderful as well, so as your oc's and the way this story compliments the song. You did a wonderful job. Hope you do more animatics as wonderful and as creative as this!
Okay, so I'm like a year and a half late, but I saw first dude and I immediately fell in love. Then I saw knight lady and I fell deeper in love and gay panic. Then came dude's wife or something and I was really fricking invested in their relationship and long story short I wish this was a whole movie, because these OCs are amazing.
If this were a movie I'd watch the heck out of it. Or read the heck out of it, if it were a book...

I loved how the main male character looked during the "I'll make them hear me!" part (my favorite part of the song). In the show, and in most animatics, people make that line usually anger filled, but the character here looked sad and desperate. He looked tired of not being listened to, and he was ready to finally *be* heard. I love it

Edit: I also realized his ring was on his right hand when he was holding his lover’s hand. So maybe whatever caused him to lose his arm made him turn to evil?

Ah, darn it. Now I'm intrigued. I want to know more - why is it soooo gooood?
It seems the girl who is framed as the MC or protag is the one in the forest, at the same time the dude framed as the villain (the one missing the arm) is her... betrothed...? (possibly, I'm guessing because of the rings). And she wants to help him. And at the same time the other soldiers don't seem to be antagonistic - I love this setup, there is sooo much potential drama.

Alas, I know that I discovered this animatic and channel much later than I would have hoped to, but I must say that I'm rather enthralled. When I rewatched this video, I took notice of something that I hadn't before, and that the scenes in 1:48 and 2:01 were the only ones with color out of the relatively monochromatic theme. I personally like the way this was done due to the emphasis the color stresses on these sections. It screams "These are important!" despite the subtle placement of each frame.
In 1:48 Frey and Lorna were placed together holding hands with emotional expressions, almost sweet yet melancholy, and I adore it. It clearly stresses that they at least know each other and have somewhat of a close relationship, and that goes without mentioning the ring Lorna's wearing on her left hand. (Additionally, if I recall, one of the earlier renditions had Frey losing his left arm rather than his right, which would explain the ring he wears on the ring finger of his right hand, rather than his left- that is, presuming that image was more dated than the rest of the animatic. Just a thought.) This image is also cued when the word "Family" is sung, which I also find really intriguing, as the video itself was clearly well thought out.
That being said, contrasting the former imagery, in 2:01 it shows what I assume to be Frey's irritated, maddened expression slowly growing more and more saturated in a glowing red-orange, which makes sense given the fact that he's a fire-based mage. To top it off, you have what appears to be embers dancing around in the frame, further emphasizing that fact. The way this is made is absolutely amazing, as it gives off the clear feeling that the mage is growing more and more enraged before the audio gives the cue, and the curtain falls, falling in line with the feeling of the song. Someone's standing in the way of his mission, and his resolve is hardening before what is presumed to be confrontation- A battle if you will.
I know I've said this far too many times already, but I cannot stress it enough. I absolutely love what I've seen of this series and look forward to what Covarche makes of it in the future. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything, but alas. This is so well made that I just can't just, well- not compliment it. ^^

What are the mechanics of his sword? Because there are three possible builds that would explain it. One being that the blades are magnetic and attract, but aren’t magnetised to the point they can break apart to inflict more damage. The coil presumably holding the pieces together inside the cord could be magnetic as well, or there could be a pulley system.

Beast-Cutter-like, I'd assume? As in one can alter the tension/magicness of the coil to switch between sword and "whip"? Can't really tell how functional it would be, though. Then again, it seems to be quite the fantasy setting so it may just some kind of magic weapon. The concept is cool as hell, and maybe that's all that matters.

How freaking long did this take you? Most Animatics are just sketches. These are full fledged drawings, shading and all. Sure, not color, but the detail is insane. I can't fathom how long this took you.
(Edit: As soon as I finished this, I went back up to where I paused it, and it literally says Time Taken: 3 Weeks. This only took three weeks?! You are a master!)
FrostedFreedom what I can see in the video, it must of took the person a week or a month to finish the Animation.
Depends on how much people are doing it and how much time they spend a day
But if they do this about 12 hours a day then that must be a couple or a whole year to do.
With the color and design it seems about right.

Both have engagement rings to each other, and I find it so touching even though his going down an evil path, those lyrics "I'll save my family." He is still her family, she is willing to go fight to save him. Really fantastic work, just the piece that are gems to me are the engagement ring that are the necklace 😭💍💕

I cannot stress enough how beautiful this animatic is, and I can't begin to imagine how hard it must have been to make it in only 3 weeks. I can say at this point that I've seen a LOT of animatics and I honestly find this one to be my favorite. I've never seen one with such detailed drawings, and the few that are less sketchy are usually somewhat stiff, without a lot of frames. You managed to combine amazingly both smoothness and detail, and I aspire to someday be able to draw a single frame as good as all of yours. Thank you for making this, you simply blessed the eyes of everyone who watches this video.

Thumbnail caught my eye, it looked like it was going to be interesting, so I clicked it, has a nice little project logo going on, look ed really cool.
And then it shows the castle, and I'm like 'Ooo~ Nice!"
Slowly zooms in on the top balcony window, and it was so smooth, I liked it a lot.
And then it starts showing your characters faces and my brain starts going at light speed, trying to process all of this beautiful artwork.
It's so much, and so detailed and amazing!
Also, by the end of this video, my brain overworked itself and flew outta my head and out my window. Now it's running away in the distance....

What I basically believe what your project is about
So the “bad guy” antagonist is the guy who trapped the lady. He is a werewolf or were-something and he proposed to the girl with the ring attached to the necklace but something went wrong bad now the entire kingdom is against him. She tried pleading his case but they wouldn’t listen so now they are attacking him. The girl who is the one who is the leader of the attack was probably the best friend of the girl fighting for him until the secret about him being a werewolf got loose and not they are all trying to get him before he hurts anyone. Some people and I are now speculating that he might be half dragon instead.

Aracely Duarte Perez honestly that may be it. Bc they obviously have an alliance with werewolves (1:06)so maybe that is why they are trying to attack him.

Boy am I happy that I found out this channel exists, 2 minutes and I've already gotten invested in the characters and their stories and God the art is beautiful. I truly respect anyone who can make lovely art, the time and effort that must've gone into getting that good.
I am astounded in thoroughly invested in this. It's like every time I watch this I find another thing I didn't notice before. There are so many voices not speaking that you need to listen watching this and it's so fascinating! I'm in awe with your work keep it up!

My version of what this is about:
The antagonist used to be a good guy and the love interest of the girl in the forest (maybe he proposed, 'cause of the rings? Idk.) But then something happened, and now he's evil, captured who I assume is the queen. He also did something to provoke the kingdom with the dragon flag and now they're attacking. Meanwhile, the girl in the forest is searching for a way to bring her love back to the good side.
I'd say he took over (or seized the capital or something like that) because in the scene on the balcony there seem to be flags or similar things depicting a dragon, which would also explain why the main "good guys army" is camped in the forest.
I may even go so far as to say "Varian" lost his right arm in some battle against some fiere creature he discovered he was somehow linked to; that would somewhat explain the whole "eye-thing" while looking to the sword; that or he acquired one hell of a mental scar in the same occurrence.
Maybe loosing his arm triggered some monster or something to take him over and his love intrest is trying to find a way to stop it.
I think the "good guys" are nobles who are staging a revolt, and the guy is either the prince, young king, or a general tasked with protecting the castle- the girl with the ring is looking to get to the place, because her magical companion has some ability which can help save the man, "Varian" is a fine name, to see reason- it's implied he's either acting irrationally on his own or out of some other creature's influence, hence the draconic face reflection visible in the sword- or maybe she just wants to convince him not to fight, because the cause of the nobles is just, or for some more personal reason

I don't even know how to properly articulate how incredibly badass the characters are, how beautifully illustrated and emotionally encapsulating this animatic is, or how much I wanna hug you for this incredible piece of work! Marvelous, just marvelous!
