That was absolutely the issue. I would be sewing, then all of a sudden the machine would lock up. I was ready to beat it with a sledge hammer. Thank you so much. I also found a few places where my needle hit the bobbin case. This is a miracle.
I'm not saying this video isn't helpful, but, I had this problem happening with my Singer sewing machine. I tried re - threading the needle and bobbin, and, cleaning everything in the bobbin area. Still, my needle kept hitting my bobbin case in one spot. Come to find out it was the actual, new OLD needle I had put in my machine. I got some sewing supplies from a friend that were many years old. And, even though the needles were name - brand Singer needles, the old needle I had put in my machine was my problem. Eventually, I changed it and tried a brand new needle of the same size, and, it started working perfectly for me. Hope this helps.
I know this is a year old but I was SO afraid of taking my machine apart and read the comments first. I’m so glad you mentioned this, I was using some cheap needles that I got on AliExpress and I swapped them for my Singer brand needles and it worked perfectly 🎉 guess I’ll have to stick with brand name lol
Excellent presentation of your problem. I hope you find the cause and solution to the problem that is causing it. I will monitor the issue for any updates.
Thank you thank you thank you for your videos! When I'm Broke and at stuck at home while trying to make masks I SO can't take my machine in for repairs... Awesome close up's, thorough explanations! Stay safe and well, from Central Canada 🍁 🙏🏻☺️
Wow useful tips, thank you was able to correct my problem, my needle was hitting the plate under the bobbin holder, needle wasnt placed in properly was too long, so i pushed it up n good to go ty
this is kinda unrelated but I cant find an answer anywhere! I just got a singer 4452 and the thread got jammed (because I forgot to put the pedal foot down) and when I was pulling the thread out a piece of white felt came with it. What should I do? I literally just opened this machine today!
Hi, unrelated question, but I have this machine and with the tension set at the lowest setting I'm still seeing knots on top. I sew professionally and also have the 4411 which works great, so I know it's not user error. The machine is only a few months old. What would you do?
@@PlainsPrepper No I haven't yet. Here's what happened: Got the machine brand new just before the pandemic. Used it twice. It was sewing perfect stitches. Then my sister asked to borrow it to make masks, kept it 2 months, probably made a hundred masks, and now tension is off and needle position dial doesn't always move the needle. I will fiddle with bobbin tension and see what happens. Thanks
My needle started hitting the metal part under the bobin holder,I thought my needle wasn't all the way in the needle holder but it still hitting it,what next
Is the lever for the walking foot on the needle screw on the needle bar? If it's not installed incorrectly I'd look at the walking foot itself it might have something wrong with it. I'd also check the needle to see if it's installed backwards or bent. Maybe even just replace the needle and see what happens.
Hi! my machine is a singer 4423 and the needle position needs adjusting but changing the position wont do anything! it stays to the left and wont move even when i change it. Please help
Something might be disconnected inside or the center position needs adjusted. I found this on adjusting the needle not sure if it will help www.manualslib.com/manual/1220482/Singer-4423.html?page=12#manual
For straight stitch, you need to set the stitch width to 0 for the needle positions to work correctly. Not sure if that's your issue, but it confused me for a while until I found that info online!

I have a Brother se2000, and this helped me understand that the bobbin case wasn’t being held in place correctly. Thank you!

This actually helped me! I’m shocked!
Help! I have the singer t&s 770. The needle hits the mount that holds the bobbin. Of course the needle breaks every time. How do i fix it?
Thank you for this video!!! It was a tremendous help!
My singer machine 972 the bobbin casing keeps popping out but I found out that it is timing issue.
My needle does not hit my bobbin case but UNDERNEATH it. It also strikes the throat plate. Would the adjustment be the same?
Did you fix this? I have the same issue

Have you tried messing with the bobbin tension at all?

Hmm you might contact Singer. If it's that new and experiencing issues could be a manufacturing defect.
It was really helpful video to solve my problem. Thanks
Omg so helpful, thank you so much for this!!
Nice

I've got the same problem, did you find the solution?
I found your video while searching why my needle hits the walking foot that came with the machine. I have a Singer HD4452.
Is the lever for the walking foot on the needle screw on the needle bar?
If it's not installed incorrectly I'd look at the walking foot itself it might have something wrong with it.

@@PlainsPrepper the lever is raised, and I've put in new needles . It worked fine at first, but then the needles broke.
Hmm, my best guess then
is that there is something wrong with the walking foot mechanism inside the foot.
@@PlainsPrepper that's what I'm thinking. I'll contact Singer. Thank you.
Thank you!! You were exactly right and saved me a giant service call!
Awesome. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏
I think I learned how to fix my machine.p

Hi.....pls help me fix my 4423 machine....the feed dog wont come up...its always in a darning position......
If you remove the bottom cover is the level that engages and disengages the feed dogs broken or some how not interfacing correctly?
It did for a minute. Then the whole black thing kept jumping out.
It should sit under the metal tabs at the rear. If it doesn't stay put check it for damage.
