38 years later and I’m not 22 anymore. I still love this song. And it’s fucking great to be 60. Thanks for posting this timeless classic. I remember the first time I heard it out here in Los Angeles on KXLU in 1985. It’s still fantastic.
Another KXLU alumni here. Like you I most likely heard it on KXLU, but it also could of been on Goodnight LA, or it could of been on Dusty Street's import show with either Joseph Brooks or Michael Stewart.

Since it was released I consider it as one of the most beautiful and moving song in music history. Never changed my mind. This video respects the magical halo of the song.
One of the most epic intro i have heard in my life ... "Deebank era al culmine della sua forma, capace di riscattare un brano anonimo con un delicato arpeggio"
I had this album as a shoe gazing teenager filled with the angst of youth! The Cocteau Twins were the best things I ever heard so this track led to the band. From this to the smiths and the Cure and the gothiest stuff I could get, then thrash, death, doom and all things Metal... Ah, the 80s had the best music! ❤❤❤
I could never explain what a massive influence this song had on my life…. And saved me a bit. First heard it in 1986. Won’t go into the reasons… but thank you. Thanks CW for introducing me to this song.
Oh maaaaan this song hits my soul like a hurricane and tears it apart, thank you Felt, and Maurice Deebank for the guitars that chime like quasars…. what in hell is this life all about ❤️ 💔 ❤️🩹
This song showed up on my Spotify when I was on a solitary rural drive a few years ago. Somehow I missed the whole Felt and Lawrence phenomenon despite being of the matching generation. It is a brilliant song and brilliant production. I read comments from Lawrence suggesting he was not pleased with Robin Guthrie's production. I have to disagree. This approaches perfection.
I dont think the word masterpiece as used below is an exaggeration. The best song ever to be put to vinyl in my opinion - almost impossible to categorize. Its a thing of strange and almost other-worldly beauty, and a high point in this art form. Why, everyone on earth hasnt heard it is beyond me. Thanks so much for the video - amazed that I had never seen this after 30+ years of marvelling.
Best thing I've ever fucking heard and seen, you've got hangman's beautiful daughters, jamc, primal scream and cocteau twins pooling into the one video- lawrence gets stranger to me the more I listen to him, thank you thank you!!!! may you rest in peace martin, thank you!
purchased an import EP on vinyl when it was current. still have it! liked the song for years, this is the first time I've ever seen a video for this. Liz Fraser's backing vocals are great
WAUUUU QUE DIAMANTE MUSICAL QUE GRAN VIDEO ES IMPRESIONANTE VER A LAWRENCE ASI !!! QUE HERMOSURA AMO A LAWRENCE Y A FELT LASTIMA QUE NO ESTA MAURICE DEEBANK!!! QUE PRECIOSURA ERA LAWRENCE ICONO TE SUPER ADMIRO❤❤❤❤

I'd forgotten just how photogenic and handsome Felt we're back then. I think what Lawrence said in the documentary about Peel not really rating them and that no Indie bands back then could get anywhere without Peel's stamp of approval might be very true. When you hear songs like this and see how phenomenal they looked, they had far more going for them than some bands that did far better than Felt. Might just be luck as well, they just didn't get the breaks at the right time to push them forward.
the only time I ever talked to Alan McGee we were on a train to Stoke - was off to see House of Love at Keele Uni and he was on there with them - there he was at a table smoking :) As much of a guru as he was I feel his excitement at the time around the support band (The Walking Seeds IIRC) was at best misplaced, but it did give a glimpse into how much belief he had in bands and how hard he would fight their corner.
For some reason Felt wasn't much on my radar back in the 80's, probably because they didn't get much U.S. distribution -- will have to revisit them. By the way, I never noticed it before, but the chord progression here is very similar to 'Roll With the Changes' by REO Speedwagon.
I mean I'd probably seen about 500 movies by the time I saw wall-e at the 2008 festival where Dylan Moran and sons were in attendance, I don't especially remember thinking anything of it except that of course it broke a convention or two. - DANIEL!
Adored it 1986, when I was 19. Still do 2024, with 56. Timeless, brilliant song.
Same happened to me!!
I've been loving this song since August 1985. Instant classic.
38 years later and I’m not 22 anymore. I still love this song. And it’s fucking great to be 60. Thanks for posting this timeless classic. I remember the first time I heard it out here in Los Angeles on KXLU in 1985. It’s still fantastic.
I'm 57 and I think like you!! Fantastic song (my top10 of all time) and I love a lot Cocteau Twins and Felt, too!
Another KXLU alumni here. Like you I most likely heard it on KXLU, but it also could of been on Goodnight LA, or it could of been on Dusty Street's import show with either Joseph Brooks or Michael Stewart.
smartypants!@@taddytass4318
I just had the clear 10" single repressing arrive today. Threw it on the old player right away. So excited.❤
yeah KXLU... same here! Great station also introduced me to the go-betweens back then...
That Feltcaster is beautiful!
That voice is unmistakable, Liz did a phenomenal job on this. Such a mesmerizing song
She really did. This is the what I mean when I say her lower tones are my favorite. She really belts it out when she drops into tenor.
Masterpiece of a great band and one of the 10 best songs from the 80`s. Number one in UK! Timeless. Love from Brazil.
I just wish my life could be
As strange as a conspiracy
I hold out but there's no way
Of being what I want to be
Dragons blow fire angels fly
Spirits wither in the air
I'm just me I can't deny
I'm neither here, there nor anywhere
It's enough to scare the whole human race
(Yeah oh, you should see my trail of disgrace)
It's enough to scare the whole human race
I don't care about this life
They say there'll be another one
Defeatist attitude I know
Will you be sorry when I've gone
Primitive painters are ships
Floating on an empty sea
Gathering in galleries were stallions of imagery
It's enough to hold the whole human race
(Yeah oh, you should see my trail of disgrace)
It's enough to hold the whole human race
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
I said it thinner
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And if you just can't stand it, ah, I swear
This is a new trance
Yeah, an entrance too
And there's a look on your face, it's a human race
And there's a look on your face.. gold
Rest in peace Martin

How did I miss this in the 80’s?
One of the most epic intro i have heard in my life ...
"Deebank era al culmine della sua forma, capace di riscattare un brano anonimo con un delicato arpeggio"
Just seeing this now after all these years... wow

Beautiful video. The remaster sounds phenomenal.

Yeah, not the original video. But love it anyway.
*A real piece of pure art. Masterpiece.*
Liz's voice is sublime.

Imortal, viciante, eterna nostalgia.

When Indie meant something. Beautiful.

I love Sunlight bathed the golden glow.
Maurice should be as big as Marr.

Eu tinha 18 anos quando ouvi pela primeira vez e até hoje é minha música de cabeceira
One of those songs...
"Oh, by the way, we've got Liz Fraser to sing the backing vocals!!"
this is the best song ever
Genius band!!!!!
Ride, Red House Painters, Verve, and a light sprinkling of Zep & the stones and VIOLA 🤘💜🤘💜👾
purchased an import EP on vinyl when it was current. still have it! liked the song for years, this is the first time I've ever seen a video for this. Liz Fraser's backing vocals are great
Mental magic…Pure…Love….

A masterpiece.
Religious experience. Love this song with my soul
I had forgot that LF sang on this ...very good song
Cooler than anything in this godawful century.
the song of all time
Finally official music video from Felt :")
3:22 ❤
What a great song! all-time favorite.
Solid gold.
Have never heard of these people before but glad they randomly popped up on recommendations...
Iconic lovely thing from 90’s..❤
80s
Better than The Smiths. Felt was the soundtrack for my twenties and my nihilism and surreal wanderings. I wish I could have been there in the 80s
I'm mesmerized. I had no idea Elizabeth Fraser did anything with Felt!
totally missed this first time around. like it :)
Featuring LIZ FRASER!
painfully amazing vid
Guest vocals from Liz Fraser.
what an underrated underrated band, lou reed and tom verlaine would be proud
Gorgeous tones
Eu amooooo essa música
Great song

Great song! The juxtaposition of voices brings to mind The Sugarcubes who formed two years later.
Brilliant band

Fabulous
Absolutely fucking Precious...
Yeys, yes, it is good - the Music and the Video, too...
Love it❤
Of a time and this time ❤️❤️❤️
Timeless
Amazing. Makes me feel kinda weird but in a good way.
As a Cocteau Twins fan, I have never heard this song before. What a surprise!
Hey McGee - there nae smoking on this train, ya bamstick! hehe....what a wonderful song. endlessly impressive after decades of conspiracy...
the only time I ever talked to Alan McGee we were on a train to Stoke - was off to see House of Love at Keele Uni and he was on there with them - there he was at a table smoking :)
As much of a guru as he was I feel his excitement at the time around the support band (The Walking Seeds IIRC) was at best misplaced, but it did give a glimpse into how much belief he had in bands and how hard he would fight their corner.
🖤🖤
Why you fleecing money from the absolute magical musik you make? You've already got more, can't wait to hear it - ❤
Sounds like his voice was recorded at the bottom of a well. For a love song masterpiece, check out Rust by echo and the bunnymen.
Best. Band. Ever.
Is that Alan McGee 3:06?

Lou Reed n shoegaze vibe (with Tears for Fears). Great song…
produced by Robin Guthrie, Vocals by Liz Fraser… it’s basically a Cocteau Twins song 😂
Does anyone what camera that is at 3:39?
is that Momus at 3:18?
Yes it is!!
LIZ and MOMUS???? im dead.
Can’t unhear “paradise city” by Guns n Roses and now neither can you.
