I like the greenhouse idea with fans!! Im about to use an old carport that was closed off for use as a horse stall! Great customer service, he should be a lifetime customer! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Phil, got ,e thinking about a green house on the tree farm possibly? Would be neat if you could find a good used one at a good price or use the neighbors if he is willing and not using it? Small rent fee? Trade for some firewood? Either way, great video. On the glove side, Kinco gloves are great, I just got a pair of the black Kinco’s, the leather ones are good as well. Stay safe and warm. See you on the next one. 👍🏻👍🏻
When I sold firewood and customers comes and pick up wood if fleshy split tell them it's green not seasoned they buy it anyway but I told them being honest then they say next year wood thanks for the heads up on not being seasoned firewood honesty best policy that is why we have repeat customers for over fifty years in business and sell a lot of wood cause open year round
Good video, have a greenhouse experiment goin on as we speak happy to send you some pictures. 10x30ft greenhouse 4 exhaust fans all solar powered. Playing with internal airflow and will be adding a woodstove here at some point.
@@geogesterrett6391 I think I might have seen your post in one of the FB groups. I have a year of data from my solar kiln now so have a good idea what you'll see. The greenhouse offers quick solar gain, but no insulation so rapid temperature decline After peak sun angle. The wood stove would have minimal impact, imo. On mild cloudy days you'd be lucky to get +10 temperature differential.
@ all are fair points. Shooting for 3 month dry time, not expecting anything close to a Solar kiln. My thought process is if I can fit 3x the amount of wood in the greenhouse and it takes 3x as long then my production is the same as a solar kiln. I have some research projects with compost heat recovery systems at a commercial scale for my university. Have had some professors recommend the addition of one to the greenhouse to provide 8-16months of heating mostly during the nighttime to help maintain temperature. I also am in South Carolina our summer time temps are well above 90 so curious what that data will look like. Thank s Phil and keep up the videos. Always a great start to my morning
Wow. There you go. Awesome additional drying space. With the heat in the summer it will be awesome for next year's inventory. Dry and high heat will do it. We used to rent semi trailer space to speed up drying. Great communications with your customers. 👍🪵🪓🙋 So are you keeping the use of the greenhouse? Summer will be much better for drying in there. It gets hot but as you said air circulation is key. Hopefully with the ends open it will do it. Hope it works out.

I've been thinking about using a green house to dry our wood! Great idea. Thanks for posting your video. Kevin
All the years I have sold wood I have not had any complaints . Started in 1986 that’s a long time . I was hand splitting wood back in them days .
@@jasonpinnix1905 you're doing it right
If that doesn’t get a customer for life, I don’t know what will! That greenhouse is huge! Put some fans in there and fill it up😂 Nice work Phil👊🏻
@@toddsoutsideagain if he doesn't have plans for the upcoming growing season I'll keep using the greenhouse some.

@@davidedwards3734 keeping the wood under shelter can only help with the drying as long as there's air flow
Very honest, great job Phil👍👍

Oh my mistake sorry. I thought he wasnt using it long term. 🫰At least it was covered from rain and snow. Good experiment.
Is there video of the Kiln build? 🪵🔥

@@WoodsTreeFarm Awesome, thank you. I can't tell you how many times I've thought how cool it would be to have a kiln.
