There are many other mukbangers with millions of subs and views. He didn't stop not because of money primarily but due to his depression or other geh sheet that happened to him.
It's like saying a football player is greedy because he keeps playing football albeit broken leg and heart failure risks. He's just doing his passion and aware of the risks. Or, let's say a Chef. His passion is cooking but called greedy because he kept trying to cook new menus which requires time and more effort plus tiredness.
I'm not saying mukbang is healthy, but when there are slim mukbangers you know there's something inside their body. More worms and bacteria than average people or other digestion "blessings", I don't know.
All I'm saying is that if you do what you love while getting paid for it, that's not greed, that's working smart. Yes, these working smartly still comes to a break even point where you need to give it a rest or stop completely. Example, Sportmen's retirement age, E-Sport player's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Businessman's overworked body drop, racer's minus/plus eyes, etc.

Ahh, really sobering, Muta. I am an overeater like this and would actually love to eat all that food. I've slowly been losing weight (and gaining some back but I've never hit my highest again) through my life and I've resolved to start losing more consistently. This video was good and I'm even more resolved to get healthier now. You're a good guy, none of this was mean at all. Thanks so much for making this video.

I was so motivated to not get as fat as Nick, and so I legit just counted calories, I ate junk food and lots of salad and went from 230lbs at the start of September, and now I'm at 190lbs today (Posted this on 11/19/2020)
The real motivation to lose weight has to come from yourself, there needs to be that, "aha," moment that forces someone to change. I was called fat by my parents, people around me, and none of that made me want to change. It wasn't until I went up another pant size and looked at a younger version of myself while scrolling through my FB. I was really thin at 18, I was like 170lbs....I looked at myself in a mirror and said, "this is not ok."
Nick NEEDS that moment. But this cycle of needing attention, money, and the reality that junk food tastes amazing means he's gonna have a rough time.
That’s an interesting way to motivate yourself. It’s the complete opposite though for me. I was pretty overweight during my childhood but progressively lost weight after looking into workout videos. I use to be ridiculed for my looks and weight and manage to use that push me towards losing it.
I became fat at around age 10,and for 7 years i did nothing about it. All the bullying and self hatred never motivated me, nither did the occasional doctors visit. I also hade a similar moment, an epiphany when i realised that if i continued like that i probably wouldn’t live past 40. Fast forward 6 months and i have now lost around 20kg (~44lbs). I still have a bit to go but im getting there. Nick really needs his moment, and i hope he finds it soon.

I’ve seen it, biggest regret
Mukbangs, in general, are unhealthy. Even if a person eats 'healthy' food in large quantities or if they exercise excessively, that still cannot possibly be good for someone. I'm guilty of watching some eating videos when I'm hungry (which is counterproductive lol), but all I find are people gorging themselves when I search for eating videos with obscene amounts of food. This community romanticizes overeating, and that's an indisputable fact. And keep in mind: mukbang channels don't produce content every other day or week. They are frequently uploading multiple videos of various meals. Meaning, they 100% are consuming all that each day or multiple times per day. Even if they exercise to 'compensate' their intake, they have to do a relentless routine for many hours in order to realistically burn off the thousands of calories they are eating. I think there are many mukbangers who seem like lovely people who even prepare their own foods (which look delicious), but their lifestyles are unhealthy and shouldn't be normalized. PARTICULARLY if you're like Nick though, it's obviously far worse than those who work it off. But again, even those who do work it off are not doing their bodies any favors.
I believe mukbang started because in Korean culture, people used to sit with their families while eating so some people online started eating on camera so that they can continue that tradition. But with the way it's currently going, you are right. It's getting a bit out of hand

I feel like Nick has dug himself a hole so deep, that it is so impossible for him to get out of. He's not going to lose weight anytime soon. He's not fooling anyone Everything about him screams depression and I'm desperate for attention. He gets so caught up with his own antics that he completely forgets that he's acting. About the brain shrinking;
That’s sadly really what has happened to my mother; a very poor diet can actually lead to frontal cortex shrinkage. With my mom it was the fact that she had gastric bypass and didn’t stick to the diet and just slowly over the last 20 years her brain has been slowly starved of nutrients she needs to the point it actually looks and acts like dementia. Because of this I’m now her caregiver. Her neurologist I took her to said this is becoming more common now as people get the bypass and don’t stick to the diet. Thankfully my mom has never gotten all of her weight back but the lack of nutrients being absorbed from taking away half of the body’s method of nutrient absorption has made her incredibly forgetful, basically like dementia. Thankfully we now have it mitigated with her on supplements now but if she misses a few days of those supplements she goes right back to being dementia-like.
This year was supposed to be the year we both work on weight loss and eating healthier and getting more outside fresh air; it was our new year’s resolution. Unfortunately, COVID hit. My mom is in her early 70’s, diabetic, high blood pressure, and former smoker, so she’s very high risk of death from COVID so I haven’t been able to get her out as much as I had hoped to this year. I’m hoping to get us out in the pool again (we live in the Central Valley of California so it’s still hot as hell) and maybe do a few laps around every other day (we couldn’t do this before due to other health related things I won’t go into detail about).
Anyways TLDR brain shrinkage from poor diet is real.

what makes me even more sad about this guy is that i’m a little overweight myself. in order to motivate myself to stay away from junk food and exercise more often, i think of him.
hey man, if it means anything, years back when i was still in a better mental state i did not eat junk food and only drank sodas once a week. it helped me lose weight without feeling awful, especially since i used to walk around a lot. it was a gradual change but losing weight helped me move around better.
just remind yourself what you want for yourself every now and then, but also don't forget to let yourself enjoy food. the real idea for betterment is having a better relationship and choice of food and lifestyle, not avoiding it altogether.

Some people can be fat and healthy -their blood test comes back normal- because they eat fairly healthy food but eat bug portions or their metabolism has slowed down too much.
