Great video - I just received a Vanford and am impressed by the smoothness and weight for sure. My handle feels like there is too much play and after inspecting the long screw in the handle which connects to the reel body seems to be slightly loose and I can wiggle it. This then makes the whole handle feel like there is some play in it when connected to the reel. Does your reel have a similarly loose screw or if my handle perhaps defective? Thanks

I noticed the loose handle on my Vanford 500. I have the Vanford 4000 and it did not have the wobble problem with the handle. Hope this helps

Well I have the 500 vanford and the 1000 stradic and I would say both have plenty of strength to take on strong fish however if I am fishing in strong current then I would prefer my 1000 just because if the fish decides to swim with the current I want that extra line capacity for the run. But lakes and small rivers I'm using the 500 all the way 🤙

The 500 has an extra small body that saves 15% weight
U have 8mm Spool in the 500 and 4,4mm spool for layering (maybe 450 meters 0,06mm)
The shimano 1000 is same as the c2000 body an with 13,5mm Spool, c2000 has less layering then the 1000 model
I was interestet in the casting distance for the 500 Models
U ve a maximum of 50 gramms for lures and 20% lower brake in the 500 Models (for long long live, lure weight not above 20g)
      Shimanos best 500er is the
soare xr 500spg thats again a has less layering maybe 250m 0,6mm, she s not a magnumlite like the vanford/vanquisch she is a coresolid like the stella but weights less
Setup costs around 600€ with xr rod + tax
The cheapest is the sienna 500 (sienna is most selled reel of the world) followed by sahara, sedona, nasci(waterproofed),(pro from here), soare bb, to vanford, with premium soare xr. All of them can used in saltwater. I saw ones a guy who catched a 136pound fisch by hours of fighting.

I’m a mechanic so I’m interested to know “Jacked”In what way? I know it’s light but not junk! I’ve got an ax that cost 1/6th the price of one of these and it has caught hundreds of hard running fish and it’s still smooth! Even After 10 years! The vanford is not built to be heavy so Is it the bearings/gears or level wind that go or is it frame distortion? Any specific examples? Another that’s caught dozens of kingfish, trevally, tuna, mackerel and more that is over 20 years old, a Navi 2000 and it’s just getting retired now!although it still smooth and capable! My vanford is only a year old and has quite a few solid fish but time will tell how it lasts I’ve just ordered 2 more so it’ll be interesting if the better hagane gears last less than zinc alloy

@@needmoreboost6369 Its no Problem to catch big fisches with her, u just burdened the reel with the brake power and not with the fish weight...
Shimano says, if u use 1kg drag all the Time there is no problem.
If u use the drag closed all the time, its not god.
Problem with very big fisches is only the line. it can hang, strech and rubber in hours fighting
So the limit of big fish is given only throug the drag, if the fish swim away, he s away. I dont think u can catch a tuna...
Shimano says 20kg fish is a goal with the reel.

@@fluffi8161 small tuna such as Mack and northern bluefin along with mackerel and bonito are what it’s used for, casting smaller metal lures so no larger tuna, this time of year it’s used for inshore species like flathead and mangrove jacks or mulloway mostly with soft plastic lures at lighter drag settings mostly below 2kg,now it’s using 8kg braid for larger flathead and mulloway and peak drag pressure might be set to 4-5kg in the case of larger fish or to stop a mangrove jack! But realistically 2kg is safe
