I once had chest drains inserted for several days after lung surgery, and the pain I have felt was probably comparable to a gun shot. Still after years I cannot forget it, it scarred me very deeply. I did not know about the abundance of nociceptors in that area, now everything makes more sense. Thank you very much for the explanation!

Perfect explanation of the basis terminology of the pain and its factors. The way he explained the process of tranduction which to me seemed the basic pain cause was absolutely magnificent. The information he gives is way more evident than it should be which make it easier to be assimilated.I would really prefer to have him as i teacher.Additionally he does have flawless teaching skills.I think the method which he uses to explains can easily be synchronized with the method a particular student uses in order to learn.

Interesting, I used to be (well, I guess I still am) a psychiatric nurse myself.

Peritonitis cases lie still. Colicky pain move a lot. Pancreatitis cases curl up?

In the early 2000 Doctors would give you all the pain medication you needed. It seems that it is now very hard to get pain medication once again. There are so many people that abuse pain medication he hard for the people that really need them to get them. No matter why your taking pain medication you will become addicted to them in about a month of daily use. There's no way around it.

the threshold part a bit confusing. there is no pain perception on that level. It is just about triggering an action potential that might get to the brain for processing, for perception. These videos are great but there is always something different from the way they are telling me in university.

Hi Dr Campbell, do check the spelling of "Hyperalgesia". I think the letter "L" is in the wrong place.

I believe the concept or process of transduction needs elaboration. It is not clear. Thank you.

I was in clinical engineering, electronics, electromechanics, nursing education etc.. for 25 years. Before the pain was too much and I could no longer do the work.
