      To be fair, Karolina, if we tried to explain this to young children or adolescents, they totally wouldn't get it. Maybe a few precocious children might, but for the most part, it's a concept beyond the ability of their developing brains to process. You're actually just at the age when the brain can handle these things.

      Oh No, it is very rare to hear preaching perfect as this video is. Often Christ has been misrepresented to you. Here, on this occasion, Christ has been well represented.
      There is a difference between false Christianity and true Christianity. It's not politically correct to say this, but if you desire to seek Truth then you need to discern that difference in order to test if Christ is Truth. May your honesty, which is His Spirit, guide you to Truth.
      Much love to you.

      This is Christ's message. That love and living in the Holy Trinity through it are the truest and deepest truths. The Son is the Image of the Father and proceeds from the Father. The Father and Son see the beauty, goodness, truth, and glory of each other. The Father loves the Son, tbe Son returns the Father's love and the Holy Spirit proceeds from both, the living bond of love they share and recieves the love of both Father and Son and returns it to both. This is God, the Holy Trinity.
      Creation comes forth as God's desire to share His perfect love with us and ultimately Heaven is sharing in that divine life, thus why Charity is the highest of all virtues as it is putting the good of others for their own sake as center and love is willing the good of the other as other, for their own sake. This is why we value Christ's Incarnation and Crucifixion so supremely. God lowered Himself to become like one of His creatures out of love for us. Then we killed Him, but He allowed it, to pay the price His own innate nature of justice demands allowing us to continue to have a relationship with Him and even by that allowing us to share directly in that love, if we allow Him to lead us to doing so. In the Cruxifiction Christ also gave to we who love Him, the supreme example of what the meaning of love is. That is for a man to lay down his life for his friends, self-sacrifice for the betterment of others and their lives.
      That and having a relationship with God are the spiritual life and why so many practice self-denial to better and more fully enter into that. The hard part is actually doing all this though and why the Church does what She does, that and evangelization since, if God is Goodness, Truth, Beauty, and Love literally, no greater good can we wish than to help others to seek a relationship with Him.
      God bless you, sir. And I will ask only this. If you ever hear Him calling, listen to Him, because then you will understand what this is all about first-hand.
      May God allow you and any who read this and need it, this opportunity. I ask this in Jesus Christ's name, the One and Only Lord and Savior of us all. Amen.

    I've said the very same thing to a friend of mine , one month ago: this is why, I think is essential that we learn about our vocation . In fact, there is a specific way through which God wishes to be united to us . Yes , of course the Eucharist is the most intimate indwelling of God ; however, we all need to know our place in the world . I don't believe this " pray it all away" attitude, because it fails to encompass the wholeness of a Human being. Thinking of Heaven as a place to go to, can distract us from the present moment and from the bliss of being Human . I don't want to die honestly, I would love to live a purposeful life for all eternity. That in itself is Heaven to me . As silly as this may sounds , I don't think it's fair that we don't get a second shot to live the beautiful things of this life , or even a third and a fourth .... I truly want Heaven to be a physical place , where life goes on and is filled with purpose, learning, challenges and growth . A place where , I can still marvel at the beautiful smile of a woman or the breeze at the fall of winter , the first coffee in the morning , the hug of my mother or the companionship of good friends gathered around a table, while talking about trivialities. I don't know you guys , but I don't want to leave these things behind , but rather to find God through them. However, there is still a need for something Which fills me up and satisfies my deepest longings and that can be achieved only through a relationship with God

    Mark 10:26And they wondered even more, saying among themselves, “Who, then, can be saved?” 27And Jesus, gazing at them, said: “With men it is impossible; but not with God. For with God all things are possible"
    I put this as I felt its how to go about receiving virtues, their is nothing of myself that is capable of getting into Heaven. If there was, what is the point of the cross? I ask Mary my Mom to increase Gods love in me everyday to love with her heart since it is love that burns away all of my self love of the world, and self will, however this is so hard i still fail, my preist said to be patient with myself, and that pride and egoism will be a daily battle until the end so if thats the case the question is right, who then can be saved? I like this topic since it is a common way of thinking but since encountering love with Christ Jesus i realised i was only cheating myself and saw all that i was inside passing through this earth bound heart and seeing its ugliness then i could come back to see what God can do and understand the promises of Heaven however again i still fail at getting up and choosing Gods will the struggle is daily so pray for me please as i pray for you, thank you Br Dcn Casey.

    • @nicholas3354
      @nicholas3354 5 лет назад

      Natalia, egoism does not have to be a daily battle. Ego can die, this is the baptism by fire.
      "John answered, saying unto all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: whose fan in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable."
      - Luke 3: 16-17
      The fan is to fan the flames, to thoroughly purge His floor with fire unquenchable. Wheat and chaff grow within us, side by side, and when we are reborn we must live-out the gathering of wheat and chaff and we must live out the fire which destroys the chaff and purges the floor. He will thoroughly purge it, thoroughly purge.
      This is why Paul said we died with Christ on the Cross, it is baptism by fire; we must live it out so Paul said "I die daily".
      It's as Casey said, Heaven is here, we want it for all the right reasons; so why wait?
      But I want to encourage you that while it's a battle on one level it's also rest. As battle we live by the sword of Truth and die by the sword of Truth, and die daily. Deeper and truer is the rest we enter into, so that the result of resting in Christ is good works which were pre-ordained by Christ for us to walk in; this means the battle is to rest. Let us labor to enter into that rest.
      Earthly men and women will tell you what a struggle it is, but that is to deny the Power. Do not believe them. When it appears to be a struggle believe Christ that it is finished, believe Paul that it is pre-ordained and that in belief we enter into rest. Do not believe those who deny the Power.
      "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth"
      - 2Timothy 3: 1-7
      Don't believe them! Don't be ever learning never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth. Don't let them keep you laden with sin. Just because they've crept into the house of God does not mean you should believe them.
      Natalia, it is possible for ego to die, I am living proof. The power is real! Christ is all!
      I hope this helps, I know this is big, yet it's perfect and it's waiting for you to believe it.
      Much love.
      Two refferences for what I've said.
      "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
      - Ephesians 2: 10

To be honest I was quite surprised of your explanation because I often hear a criteria to get into heaven I am usually reluctant to hear this type of talk. Praise God for being so generous... I have a really bad attitude sometimes and the question I personally ask myself is, “Why bother?” Since it is so hard to get into, “Why bother?” But as I reflect about Jesus Christ and His love it begins to matter. Perhaps, this is what God is meaning to tell me that Jesus Christ is heaven or that heaven would not be if it were not for Jesus Christ.

    I have trouble with this, though I do accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior: I think back to my school days, when kids would bully other kids into the ground, then keep kicking them. Those kids that got bullied usually had it tough at home and at school and end up with serious problems and often do not believe in God because of what they've been through, while the bullies usually just look back and say yeah I was a bully I'm sorry and move on with their lives and are more likely to turn to God in their later years. It wears heavy on my heart that while some people really do their best to live like Jesus, others barely try. Yes we all sin, but why would a bully not accept Jesus as Lord and savior in order to get to heaven, then knowing they're going to heaven just sin on purpose because they know there are no reprocusions? In Matthew 25, Jesus also warns about separating the sheep from the goats. Faith without works is dead. Deeds matter. Feed the poor or be damed. Obviously we all fall short of the glory of God and Salvation is merited by Jesus’ death and resurrection. However, we are not once saved always saved. We are saved by Grace through faith and not faith alone.

    • @BreakingInTheHabit
      @BreakingInTheHabit  5 лет назад +1

      Bridgette Poitras Yes, of course our works matter. But the question is where do they matter? As St Paul reminds us many times, we are not justified by the works of the law but by faith. No action on our part can earn salvation; no good work can save us. Rather, it is by God’s grace that we are saved, and our faith, which issues forth in works (because true faith leads to action) that ultimately accepts this gift.

    The hope of the Christian is not "heaven", but the bodily Resurrection upon Christ's return. God will bring all things into focus in Christ with a New Heaven and New Earth. This is the time when Jesus will come back, take up His throne and make all things right (judgment). I recommend "Surprised by Hope" by Bishop N.T. Wright. He is an Anglican theologian, but I know for a fact that many Catholics have found hope in his theology. His sermons & lectures are all over RUclips, but he has written more than 50 books. @@BreakingInTheHabit I wouldn't be too harsh on her attitude. Not everyone embraces the cross with a cherry step and a big thank you. For most human beings the 'good life' does not come naturally; which is why we need supernatural grace. It's real nice when God asks someone to embrace a healthy body, sound mind, and sufficient riches to meet their needs. Not so good when He chooses a much different path for some. I can actually applaud her. God says to her 'this is my will'; and despite the fact she might not enjoy it she will trudge ahead and do it because God asked her. I agree it is wrong if you view God as a super rich Bill Gates; so you only do good for the perks and not to grow in relationship with God.
      However not everyone has the time, money , or skill to get a sponsored hiatus from life and get a theology degree. I do not know this particular woman; but I know enough plain folk who see the target, were told by 'the church' this is how you get to the target; so they dig their feet in, point their head that way and plod on. Do what you got to do to get to heaven. I can live by that.

      @@39knights I agree, I struggle a lot with "doing what we have to do"..I'm not a people person or a naturally positive or happy person like some people are so I struggle with the Christian life..even though our salvation isn't earned we do have to live good lives to get to heaven but it's not as easy for some to be all cheerful & pleasant about it as it is for others, we all have different crosses to bear..I think there is more merit in someone "doing what they have to do" even though they find it really hard as apposed to someone who is naturally full of joy & finds it easy to deal with people & practice charity. I think we have to give this woman the benefit of the doubt as we don't know what her personal struggles are & sometimes there's a lot more going on with people then they even know how to express themselves...sorry for rambling :-D

    Eternal life is given through God's grace and mercy because of our faith in Jesus Christ period , once you recieve this grace the sanctification process begins through the Holy Spirit which produces the good works and love that is pleasing to God, without full faith in Jesus Christ and what he accomplished on the cross there is no grace , we are all sinners and through faith we are imputed the righteousness of Jesus Christ,
    2Corinthians 5:21, "He [God] made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Here we have a double imputation. God imputed our sins to Christ who knew no sin. And God imputed his righteousness to us who had no righteousness of our own. when God looks at the cross he sees us when he looks at us he sees Jesus Christ because we have received the righteousness of Jesus Christ through our faith , James 2:24 is speaking of the good works that justify faith not good works to justify salvation , big difference many get confused , all believers will be judged for their works whether good or bad
    1 Corinthians 3:12-15
    12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
    13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
    14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
    15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
    Peace be with all, I pray everyone enjoys the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

    So if heaven is the connection with god, then can the inverse be true? Can hell be the separation between man and god, and sin allows us to experience that separation? Therefore, going to hell after death is experiencing the fullness in separation with god? I also like to think that suffering in hell comes not from the physical-like torture, but the torture of knowing you will never be able to connect with god again

Can't "doing what we have to do" be just another way of saying what you say in the video?

      I know what you mean. I've struggled with the same problem.
      Have you ever thought you may have a form of social anxiety disorder? If so, it is not a sin, nor does it indicate a lack of faith on your part. God knows all about these things. Many of the great saints probably had psychological disorders but God turned their weakness into opportunities to show His strength. This doesn't mean, though, that we shouldn't avail ourselves ourselves of professional help. Modern psychology is gift He has given to to our world.
      Also I think part of the problem we all have is a tendency to confuse faith and joy with feelings and emotions. There is a narrative that tells us that if we were close to God we'd be feeling it all the time. But feelings come and go. Feelings don't always mean what we think they mean. Just plugging away at it when we don't feel like it is itself a sign of faith.
      Finally, know that God loves you.
      I hope this helps. God bless you.

      I think you might be misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm not saying that heaven isn't a place; I'm saying that heaven isn't a place disconnected from our reality here. When we start to think of it as distant and completely otherwordly, like it were hidden in the sky, we miss the point.
      Then again, we don't want to get too literal here. God is immaterial, outside of space and time. To live in God means that heaven truly isn't a place, it is a state of being. Whenever we start to think that heaven is a place, as in the places here on earth, we are misunderstanding heaven.

      I think this also gives an understanding of how "the saints can hear our petitions [prayers - sic] and bring them before the throne of grace. The veil between heaven and earth is thin. At baptism we begin the process of living in "eternal life" (heaven/kingdom in our midst) which death brings to fruition. Along the way our eternal life is [we are] nourished by the heavenly food of holy communion, commissioned to "go" [missa = sent] to be the body of Christ in the world.

      There is nothing anyone can do to earn their salvation, and it is definitely not just a matter of believing in God. Jesus says in Matthew “not everyone who says Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of God but only those who do the will of my father.” In Matthew 25, he makes it clear that those who fail to serve the poor will not go to heaven. Everything which is good comes from God and it's God that works His Will through mankind in fact Christ the incarnation of God became Man one of us and He pours out Sanctifying Grace within us that Sanctifying Grace is Christ as Christ stated He is the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the Father except through Him. He connects God to mankind the only reason why mankind can be in Heaven with God is because of Christ. As Heaven exists within us by Sanctifying Grace which is spiritual life. It's sin caused by our own selfish desires which separates mankind from God as the elect walk amongst us so does the damned without Sanctifying Grace within there is a spiritual death so if Heaven can be found within ourselves and surrounds us so does Hell the Devil is not in some fare off place he wanders the Earth seeking the ruin of souls.

      Think of it through this analogy. There is a train taking us somewhere. The price is too high that we could never buy it. Only Jesus has enough money to buy us a ticket, and he either chooses to buy it for us or not. We cannot convince his either way, but he offers it to us all. That being said, we can still choose not to get on the train or to rip up the ticket.
