I'm surprised Shaun didn't talk about his "padlock in a sock" cellmate. That sounds real effective.
Anything in a sock is effective. we didn't have padlocks but a few handfuls of small dense objects worked just as well. They gave us those really thin dress socks like stocking thickness so if you tried that they would rip. People took those apart though and braided the thin strands into long wires to use as a razor wire. Since it was a polyester type of material they got quite strong and because they were so thin they cut into the skin as they choke you. I wasn't there long enough to see them used but some of my cellmates warned me to watch out for people sneaking up from behind to try and choke you. People also made scarves to wrap their necks as protection against them.

Im sure almost anyone gets tired of their job, but in your case ive watched your speeches around England and you seem to retell your story (captivating story) over and over again and sell books. If you picked any other profession what would it be?
yeah man the sugar thing is nasty. I learned about that as a kid when I stuck my finger in a pie my grannie had made, fucking cooked my finger pretty much. the sugar acts like napalm.
it was a blackberry and apple pie btw I think in case anyone was wondering... although it could have been cherry. I think it was cherry actually because they contain way more sugar and this really fucked up my finger... never did it again (I blame that nursery rhyme. I forget how it goes but some lad nicks a plum out of a pie or something, I was just emulating that)

coins and razor blades works as well. it's essentially the same idea, but much easier to make. you get a few 2p pences, a couple of proper size razor blades then fucking blu tac it together and slash come cunts dial with it. it's essentially 2 razor blades blue tac'd or glued either side of a 2p, then a 2p on each side of it (so you have 3 x 2p's with 2 razor blades with a 2p width gap in the middle. I think it works the same as a the razor toothbrush thing they do in jail, this is a street version though used by inforcers)
just like the tooth brush method, the two cuts are too close together to stitch it. this is usually reserved for people who deserve their face marked... usually have done stuff to kids or old people.... or more the case in this day in age, pissed off the wrong person.
how does wealth effect your time in prison? i could imagine some people being shook down for cash , i could see others using it to make moves for power

Got a question for you: are there many Germans in American prisons and how do they fit in with the system (gangs etc.)?
Not really any native Germans where I was but I was in PA which has a huge German population. There is a place called Germantown which was settled by Germans back in the day, so everyone there is German. The US has lots of people with German ancestors anyway so you run into a lot of those. They are just part of the white gangs though. I was only passing through so I was on H block (known as hotel block) so people weren't split up yet. The male section was actually really chill and more like the most boring summer camp. The female block was always popping off right before lunch and we would get put on lock down which sucked cause we would go to lunch 2 hours late and it was cold by then. Our blocks where 2 floors but the top floor was just a square around the outside with a railing and the girls would throw each other down from the top. I saw 3 girls get taken out on stretchers or wheelchairs in 5 days.

it's a nice idea but goes wrong way too often. have to make them earn it somehow and prove they are worthy of it in a sense.

I recently heard a podcast from a prominent, established, normallly very interesting Podcast series (no, I won’t say the name). They had a guy on talking about Italian Mafia style retribution’s etc, in US high security prison. He didn’t even mention any big names, to establish credibility. He said..... “...and this one guy had done (x, y, z) to (Mr A, Mr B and Mr C). So they tied him down, and,broke bones in his body, until he nearly passed out from the shock and the pain. Then, every 30 min or so, they would inject him with cocaine, so he returned to being wide awake, and went on, until they’d broken every bone in his body....”. Now I could be wrong, but really?? This is a standard guy, not John Gotti’s N.O.K. And.... where did they get high quality coke in the prison? The needles? The restraints? The room that’s empty, quiet and undisturbed? The time it would take? And on, and on.... And this never made the press, and he skipped all these basic details?Really?
It’s good to hear people like you guys, whose accounts are backed by facts, names, etc etc.... it adds a whole new dimension to this (gruesome) subject....
