      This is how I destroyed my really cool lights I put around a desk 😢... Trust me don't do it 😑 instead where you need to bend the lights leave them not glued in that place and make a small curve so you would not bend the cable ,I'm bad at explaining but if you look for Goove lights you might find their manual which explains it. Also I do truly recommend getting Rgb lights which are covered by this thick rubber you will not break those and they are easy to install even better than those without because u don't have to worry about breaking them all the time 🙂

My main thing is I want to be able to sync them together for music via the app so all of the lights everywhere are playing in the same color. Since I’ve grouped my lights they start playing different colors on their own now when on voice activated but it shouldn’t rely on both Bluetooth units it should only be one damnit lol bc they’re synced.

    Properly you need to install it on an aluminium profile for cooling and sticky-ness, also, bending the strip puts a lot of mechanical and electrical stress in the bending point, so expect it to fall of soon and get 30-50% less bright.

  • @nowknow
    @nowknow 4 месяца назад

    Umm, really risking breaking the RGB by doing this but if it works it works.
    The proper way is to cut the strip, place it how you want and solder on the wires again to bridge the cuts, you can cover that up with tape. They also make really easy 90° joints you can plug the cut ends into if you're less electrically inclined. You can also just leave more room and not try to have such a tight bend, crimping it like that risks damaging a diod or resistor.

  • @xnetpc
    @xnetpc 4 месяца назад

    I cut my strip, then cut the ends at opposite direction 45 degree angled, and peeled back some of the insulation to expose the wires inside. I soldered each wire back together and used a little bit of liquid electrical tape to keep the wires from touching. The liquid tape dried white, which matches the color of the strip. From a distance, it looks like the strip was made with a 90 degree bend.

    How to "properly" fold your LED strip is you *don't*
    This is a neat ck that works but can risk destroying the internal copper traces.
    The **proper** way to do this is to cut the strip and use either a corner joiner or scratch away some of the top coating, apply flux, and solder short jumper cables that do the bending instead, hopefully with some strain relief or secured to the desk

    That will be the first failure point and the diodes closest to the fold will be the first to fail. Been there done that. If you don't want them to fail get a corner connector OR space the led strip so there's a cut line approx where you want to go 90degrees then cut the strip and solder wires. Led strip is not as flexible as yall think and the thin copper traces INSIDE the flexible pcb substrate are still fragile.
