Karnataka has always been a hub to great numbers of traditional and oldest temples in our country which resembles our Indian and Dravidian Culture to the world, of them the Sree Bhoga Nandishwara Temple which is one the oldest Temple in Karnataka. Which has been built by the original Bhoga Nandeeshwara in 9th century during the reign of Nolumba dynasty.
The Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple is more than 1000 years old and it is located in near to Nandi Hill which is also known as Nandidurga, in Nandi village which is a part of Chikkaballapur District.
The Temple has been built as a dedication to Lord Shiva and ruled by various south Indian dynasties like Chola, Bana, Hoysala and the Vijayanagara kingdoms who contributed and added modifications to temple’s progression between 9th -13th AD.
The temple complex houses not one but three shrines of Lord Shiva of it which are The Arunachaleshwara the child part of Lord Shiva, the Bhoga Nandeeshwara the youth also another part of it called Uma Maheshwara or yoga Nandeeshwara represents Lord Shiva with his wife the final renunciation stage which is located at the Nandi hilltop with a Nandi Statue.
It is around 60 kms from the capital city #Bengaluru and 57 kms to the border of Andra (Hindupur town).
The Temple has a enrich sculptures and architecture of Dravidian style, which shows greatness of Hindu Gods mainly Lord Shiva and Parvathi. Most people who visit Nandi Hills make it a point to visit this heritage sites. It’s exotic design and the ambience of the temple premises excites everyone who visit here.
The temple is very much crowded normally at the festivals days and mainly at Maha Shivaratri it is totally filled by devotes for 2 days long.
