We shouldn’t forget Matos is a 55FV prospect with a 70 grade hit tool and 55 grade defense. As long as we don’t ruin him he should be a fantastic player. He deserves sustained playing time in addition to McCray who has arguably the highest ceiling of any prospect on our 40 man
The other problem with signing Bregman (alongside Burnes) is that it would most likely close the door for us to go after Kyle Tucker or Vlad next year, because I don't see this ownership spending that much, and I really want them to get Tucker (especially) or Vlad next year. Schmitt and Fitz should also get the chance to handle 2nd tbh.
With all the different moves is Bregman still available. Not sure with all the moves. If so I’m sure he can play other positions. 2nd, RF? I wouldn’t mind either Alonzo or Santander though.
What AJ is saying and I agree with him, is that whatever environmental factors are in play with that data don't suggest everything. Batters know this my dude.
Giants definitely missed out. Lots of first basemen came and then went. At this point...I see them getting a starter and little else. Maybe it's Sasaki. Melvin has already talked out the top of his line-up...odd as it is. Wade, Adames, Lee, Ramos, and Chapman. Even with another starter for the rotation, The Giants are the 4th best team in the West
Giants don't need Burnes if he wants 7 yrs. and don't need to sign another FA just to generate a buzz around their team like the A's with Severino, because their owner betrayed their fanbase. They need to trade Yaz, Wade Jr. and maybe some lower leverage relievers and pick up another lefty hitting corner OF or 1B. They have too many role players and not enough everyday ones.
The Giants 40 man is full, any addition would have to involve a trade or just cutting somebody. Signing Santander or Burnes would mean giving up more draft picks and the Giants need to build up their farm system.
The building of the farm system has a lot more to do with just draft picks. We don’t necessarily have the best process for these guys. I’m sure if some other teams drafted the same players we have they might have had better success with them.
@@derickatkins5032The Jorger soler trade is a perfect example of thjs. We got 2 prospects. Non in our top 25. Instead we couldve kept a valuable bat for our dh spot.
I think we need to strong consider going after Jurickson Profar because he can play a multitude of positions (generally all poorly though) and he can switch hit well.
WE NEED TO BE MORE ACTIVE IN THE TRADE MARKET. The issue with going after Santander is both the money but also the penalties of the QO that he got. If we sign Santander AND Burnes on top of Adames our ability to draft talent and sign IFAs into the organiztion will be hamstrung at least for the next two seasons.
This team isn't good enough to spend money on 1B or DH. 1B can be Wade/Flores and DH can be Luciano/Encarnacion/Someone else, maybe even Matos until we trade Yaz (or cut him)

I would've loved to have seen Goldschmidt in a Giants uniform
Same. He’s gonna hit 30 hr and drive on 100 for NY.
I can see that easily happening
Posey blew it
@@kevinb3307There are still other options, and he already locked up Adames, or do you have an attention span of 2 seconds?
too old

Love this take. Agreed
We’re running out of options. We’re still a sub .500 team

Bregman is the best hitter on the market by a lot. Fitzgerald can play LF and Ramos can DH. Burnes needs to be locked down first though.

Good luck with that, should have just non-tendered Yastrzemski in the first place.
@@user-aCC0unt_1 Good luck with what? Sabermetrics may end up keeping Yaz in RF for all we know. Posey likes the guy so we'll see.
Giants need a starter
1b and an outfielder

Sabin Ceballos is one of our top 30 prospects tho and had a breakout season this year

Burnes seems like Boras will pull another late winter Snell dieck move XD
I'm more bullish on him than most, but I see a lot of potential in Jerar Encarnacion.
I hate how MLB has downsized the Minor Leagues, a 10 round draft is simply not enough for developing a broad talent pool.

I know who's going to be the opening day DH...Brandon Crawford, lulz
I'm over Posey just doing nothing. It seems like he's not equipped for this job
