San Francisco Giants Stunner: Buster Posey Replaces Farhan Zaidi as President of Baseball Operations
Ok bros it’s done, he’s a AZ Diamondback, so now?????? Im waiting!!!!!
If Giants pivot to make a trade with Seattle for Castillo, my question is about his no trade clause. If he waives the clause for the trade, does he retain the clause during his time with the Giants or is it lost to him because he waived it?
Too many Giant fans are emotional basket cases FO didn't sign a name player invoking nat'l headlines. If they get Jurickson Profar to play LF/MIF, then it's been a good offseason and they won't feel needy to trade unless the deal's right.
Boras and his client, Corbin Burnes, signed a contract in another state, so Burnes could stay close to home. Thank God for small favors.
Posey misses out yet again
Anyone else feel like Ben works for the Giants? He refuses to hold them accountable
Burnes is GOING to ARIZONA DBACKS!!😢🧨😖😩
Heard about it on HUM BABY at 5 am today. 8yr/210???
😂😂😂😂 giants aren't getting shit
Oh well Burnes went to Dbacks, unless something dramatic happens I will now be watching games. Also boost the payroll to a top 7 team. You are one of the richest teams.
He needed to resign snell..now burned going to snacks finishes the gs for a very long time going forward!
not really. here's why, if Burnes performs like he and Boras think he will then he's opting out after 2026. If he doesn't perform then he won't opt out and the Dbacks will regret that contract. Opt outs are stupid and strictly benefit the player, super glad Posey did not bend to Boras.
No, it won't. Zaidi needed to risk signing Snell late, because Giants couldn't sign good, big name position players. If you think business like, it was bad risk mgmt.
I'd rather have Roki
Cant wait for the next video it'll be good
Its wild that he has an opt out in that contract. Im almost okay with missing out at that point.
So you mean to tell me the giants couldn’t do 6 years 210?! The MFn Dbacks get him over us? Wow.
Confirmed Giants and Blue Jays offered more, but tax differences became the deciding factor (per Bob Nightengale)
Thlse 2 teams literally offered more he took less to not have as much of a tax hit
@@ccastle08 oh I saw that and that’s the cheap BS answer. The truth won’t come to light. Shohei and Soto didn’t seem too worried about the tax hit. Yamamoto didn’t seem too worried about the tax hit. Fried didn’t seem too concerned.
And boooooom Giants miss out on another free agent once again. Burnes to the D bags confirmed.
Thanks for your great analysis. The off-season are always guesswork for us fans, but your fact-based discussions make the process more interesting than just guessing. You do great work. We appreciate you!
I want the Giants to get Burnes, he's the only free agent that makes sense and is worth to get aside for Roki, but if a big overpay is required just save the money for next year's free agency, the Giants need to get Kyle Tucker (especially) or Vlad. Burnes makes sense if the contract isn't exaggerated, but if you can't sign him don't clog the payroll on mid/risky players like Flaherty, Santander etc, that would limit what we can spend in a year when much better players will be available and would be a perfect recipe for a disaster, just sign one year deals with guys that have no qualifying offers so you don't lose draft picks and you can trade them eventually, go all in on the next wave of free agents. Guys like Gausman might be available soon anyway, it's not like we should panic over Burnes.
Go get a lower tier starting pitcher. All of Scott Boros clients should kick him to the curb. No one wants to wait until March.
The Giants are not getting Sasaki. But we did see a photo of Buster at LAX.
And your source is nothing
Alex Bregman = more Boras shenanigans, and not as much of a match.
Buster needs to sign Roki or Roki wants to come here love that guy
Completely up to Roki where he signs. He’s not in it for the money.
We'll see if Giants can find the catalyst to get it done. Too much talk about pivoting, impatience, when disciplined moves are need based.
Burnes would be a good pickup if he would accept a 3-4 yr deal but he won't move on while there are players out there to be had
Ideal off season scenarios as you've laid it: 1. Adames + Burnes, number one SS on the market and 1A pitcher on the market, off season over, cornerstones for next 5-6 years. Ideal situation. 2. Adames + Santander + Back end Depth Starter/lean on young guys 3. Adames + Santander + Diaz, more I think about it, this move intrigues me as you bolster your offense to above average but you're going to be depending on Harrison and one of Black/Birdsong alot(one of those two is probably going back to TB in a Diaz trade) Want nothing to do with Bregman or Alonso on LTD's. In the division: LA is LA. SD is already preparing for a drop in budget/spending. AZ is young and athletic, but scored the most runs in baseball last year and missed the playoffs. A choice of the above, imo is the only way this 2025 team is improved at the big league level.
get flaherty and sasaki. is yandy diaz that much of an upgrade to give up a pre-arb controllable arm? I agree Bregman and Alonso are scary on deals 4+ years. I do like Santander being a SH, but would be wary of any deal 3+ years because he's a zero fielder. Giants do need a thumper though.
We don't know if SD is going to drop in spending for 2025. They have a new person at the helm next year who is one of the principle owners. We don't know what he is going to do. At this point it is only a rumor they are going to cut spending.
@@ryanduff457 Every team wants Sasaki. I doubt the Giants will get him
@@hopespringseternal2624 I have him going to LAD
Well, may have to cross off option 1 there.
Get Santander and Flaherty if no Burnes
Giants need to get the Burnes deal done as the pitching free agents next yr is not as good
not an excuse to make a panic overpay
Boras is doing Boras things and trying to add more to the contract. This should have been a done deal in the beginning of this month.
He’s not worth it four years 100 million
Bregman is from New Mexico. Not east coast area .
Burnes is not Gerrit Cole and any team that pays him accordingly will regret it after three years. FB velocity on the decline, K/9IP on the decline. His ERA+ of 130ish the past 3 seasons is all-star caliber but not elite and shouldn't be compensated at elite levels. He's exceeded 200IP once in his career, so if you make a deep playoff run will he have enough bullets in his arm to last to the WS?
Burnes has to be a Giant after all this
no!
I think I'm in the minority when I say I'd rather the Giants sign Pivetta + bullpen help + offense rather than only Burnes. Roki would be the cherry on top in either case.
@@therager1354 this Giants have a pitcher friendly ball park get good depth in the pitching and improve the offense.
Scott boras is a prick! Pitching costs money. Won’t be the last guy they’ll have to pay. Next pitcher they’ll be paying over 300m
We have seen over and over that money talks and sentimentality walks.
I'm over Posey just doing nothing. It seems like he's not equipped for this job
Can the sf giants have rich owners 😂 cheap skates why own a team when u a flee market approach
This team isn't good enough to spend money on 1B or DH. 1B can be Wade/Flores and DH can be Luciano/Encarnacion/Someone else, maybe even Matos until we trade Yaz (or cut him)
Giants don't need Burnes if he wants 7 yrs. and don't need to sign another FA just to generate a buzz around their team like the A's with Severino, because their owner betrayed their fanbase. They need to trade Yaz, Wade Jr. and maybe some lower leverage relievers and pick up another lefty hitting corner OF or 1B. They have too many role players and not enough everyday ones.
Good luck with that, should have just non-tendered Yastrzemski in the first place.
@@user-aCC0unt_1 Good luck with what? Sabermetrics may end up keeping Yaz in RF for all we know. Posey likes the guy so we'll see.
We shouldn’t forget Matos is a 55FV prospect with a 70 grade hit tool and 55 grade defense. As long as we don’t ruin him he should be a fantastic player. He deserves sustained playing time in addition to McCray who has arguably the highest ceiling of any prospect on our 40 man
Love this take. Agreed
Burnes seems like Boras will pull another late winter Snell dieck move XD
I think we need to strong consider going after Jurickson Profar because he can play a multitude of positions (generally all poorly though) and he can switch hit well.
I hate how MLB has downsized the Minor Leagues, a 10 round draft is simply not enough for developing a broad talent pool.
WE NEED TO BE MORE ACTIVE IN THE TRADE MARKET. The issue with going after Santander is both the money but also the penalties of the QO that he got. If we sign Santander AND Burnes on top of Adames our ability to draft talent and sign IFAs into the organiztion will be hamstrung at least for the next two seasons.
We’re running out of options. We’re still a sub .500 team
Giants need a starter 1b and an outfielder
I'm more bullish on him than most, but I see a lot of potential in Jerar Encarnacion.
Giants definitely missed out. Lots of first basemen came and then went. At this point...I see them getting a starter and little else. Maybe it's Sasaki. Melvin has already talked out the top of his line-up...odd as it is. Wade, Adames, Lee, Ramos, and Chapman. Even with another starter for the rotation, The Giants are the 4th best team in the West
What AJ is saying and I agree with him, is that whatever environmental factors are in play with that data don't suggest everything. Batters know this my dude.
The other problem with signing Bregman (alongside Burnes) is that it would most likely close the door for us to go after Kyle Tucker or Vlad next year, because I don't see this ownership spending that much, and I really want them to get Tucker (especially) or Vlad next year. Schmitt and Fitz should also get the chance to handle 2nd tbh.
I know who's going to be the opening day DH...Brandon Crawford, lulz
With all the different moves is Bregman still available. Not sure with all the moves. If so I’m sure he can play other positions. 2nd, RF? I wouldn’t mind either Alonzo or Santander though.
Bregman is the best hitter on the market by a lot. Fitzgerald can play LF and Ramos can DH. Burnes needs to be locked down first though.
The Giants 40 man is full, any addition would have to involve a trade or just cutting somebody. Signing Santander or Burnes would mean giving up more draft picks and the Giants need to build up their farm system.
The building of the farm system has a lot more to do with just draft picks. We don’t necessarily have the best process for these guys. I’m sure if some other teams drafted the same players we have they might have had better success with them.
@@derickatkins5032The Jorger soler trade is a perfect example of thjs. We got 2 prospects. Non in our top 25. Instead we couldve kept a valuable bat for our dh spot.
Sabin Ceballos is one of our top 30 prospects tho and had a breakout season this year
