It is without a doubt one of the best street cameras in my opinion. Not to mention how much I’ve leaned from it. Fantastic lens, quiet shutter, love the loading wheel. I wouldn’t recommend it for indoors but if you get used to zone-focusing the rewards are great
haha, yeah its definitely a quirky camera. My GF had one and it was alright, then I found one with a dead selenium battery. I changed it but it was a bear, and it bummed me out so I sold it. Thanks for the honest review, you talked about the biggest con of these cameras, the hipster sheik of it - oh and that selenium thing haha.
A wonderfully entertaining video that happens to have a gussied up Oly Trip 35 in the plot - the best part of which is the very honest personal assessment of the camera.
I just found my grandads Olympus trip 35 and I hate to say but I hated using it. It was finicky, Unpleasant to shoot with and I am honestly convinced that the photos are going to come out really shitty, mine could just be in shitty condition but still even if it was in better condition, you could still get a half decent SLR for the same price.
So sorry you hated this camera. I have three, take them everywhere, and love it. It was actually the camera that got me back into film. I’ve got a bunch of videos about it on my RUclips channel.
Seems like you were too worried about looking like a hipster than working the camera. You should've tested the light metering before throwing film through it. The cells not working just mean you can't use automatic exposure camera is still very useful without it.
For something that small and compact never always be good Maybe it just hype up just by the brand of it But in reallity its not that good But thats just my opinion Thankyou for coming to my ted talk
im guessing a lot of these are sold without their caps and because of this the cell dies. My Grandad really looked after his trip35 and OM3, both of which I now own, and it still works great. A friend of mine recently brought one on Ebay which didnt have a cap and it didnt work. The sellers use the typical language. Untested. Ran film through it etc.
I disagree somewhat with your initial take. My very first film camera was a trip 35. I got it in like 2010 for five bucks and it started my love for film. Its actually not a bad intro camera as its kind of idiot proof
Hey man, could you give me any advice on digitalizing my film photos? Do you have a scanner and if so does it scan the prints or the negatives? Just trying to digitalize them at the camera store I get photos developed is pretty expensive I think. Thanks!
mate, doing a video for ilford pan 400 pls. So i've recently bought this film that i really want to see a preview looking of its. Love ur contents, btw.
I’m sorry could you explain what you just said I’m about to get this camera from a friend and I want to know as much as possible I’ve never owned a camera before
It seems like it’s similar to the tiny Olympus 35 RD that I love in looks, but hated in reality…… so much for the “fine Zuiko lens” ….. my photos came out poorly exposed ( even though the 35 RD has a Cds meter instead of the selenium ring ) and out of focus pretty badly. And the whole -it won’t fire unless the exposure is correct” thing made me crazy!! Definitely the 35 RD did not live up to it’s reputation…… So, I can get how the Trip could be a dud, too. I also have an Olympus Pen EM, which evidently had a motor film advance and shutter, that was under powered and burned out! So much for Olympus?!
These cameras are good but you need good light and to understand how your film will act..... Your pictures are bad partly because the light meter may not be working . . .learn to understand film and your pictures will improve . . . . Keep the sun behind you . . . .
I've had and fixed up a couple of these. They are really poorly built. The smallest displacement and the red flag is blocked. The canonet 28 can be had for cheaper and is way sturdier.
Once again thanks to leah and tom

Brilliant video James as always! Thank you for the shoutout! It was a pleasure to help you out :D
Am i the only one who actually *really* liked those grainy, dark photos?
They kinda had a cool vibe to them.
no i bumped into an old lady coming out of an opticians, she really liked them too , , ,
I like the contrast though i dislike the faded overall colour
If you pick up any older cam, you will get same results. It’s nothing special. It’s not a good unit.
trip 35 more like pen15 am i right

I think it's an awesome one. Definitely not the best, but so much fun and the quality is alright for casual film shooters!

“Authentic aesthetic” yet calls the camera quirky 🤨
Charles's jump at the beginning uwu

Charles' lil jump at the beggining made the vidéo a lot better

Unfortunately without a crystal ball it's hard to know when the selenium cells will fail, so can hardly blame the seller months after the sale.
I’m sorry could you explain what you just said I’m about to get this camera from a friend and I want to know as much as possible I’ve never owned a camera before
I'm sooo happy with my Revue 400 SE Rangefinder. It's sleek, good built and the pictures look good
Does every Olympus Trip 35 make pictures like this?
like the photos from Leah and Tom yes, but not like the ones from me

Wait but old selenium should give you overexposure, not under
surely just use a lower ASA and your photos will turn out correctly exposed
"the design makes it seem more like a fashion item than a camera", said the person who bought the neon-yellow skinned Trip.
I actually borrowed it off a friend
Is olympus trip a whole frame or half frame like the pen?
Full frame
@@jamstills thank you😊
That's such a good vidéo especially the part where you burn the camera you should make a movie i Can smell talent 🧐🧐
