This is amazing mate! Practically identical setup to what I’m looking at to build for me and my son (however one bedroom downstairs and 1 upstairs). Would it be possible to have a rough cost breakdown of the whole thing? I live WA so costs will vary!
Hi mate. I have been asked this a few times so if you have a look through the comments you should be able to find the info. It will be about 2 years old the pricing though. Good luck with your build.
Any chance you have a cost breakdown for this build? We are looking into building a barndominium style home. Trying to work out the best shed style to use and what some of the things to look out for and requirements that need to be taken into account. Would probably go a little bigger, but the definitely want the whole second mezzanine style floor space. Cheers.
Congratulations, I thought that you would of made your bedroom and ensuite up on the mezzanine floor so 2 kids bedrooms are down below. Also I thought you would of put a doorway between the living area and the shed beside the sliding door, so you wouldn't have to walk outside on a freezing night or when it is pissing down. But great work achieving your dream.
There are a couple of reasons why there are no bed rooms up stairs. It meant a lot more cost to engineer the flooring to support it, she’d had to be higher and I needed up stairs for storage. I didn’t do the internal door as I have young kids and I want to be able to leave power tools and other dangerous stuff out without worrying that they will go in and play with it. The framing is set up so I can easily add a door which I may do when they are older. Everything is a compromise.
He mate new sub.. can you go through the planning/design stage of the shed, how you go with approval and if it’s okay the cost.. love the shed and this is something I’d like to do here in central Queensland
That’s a lot of info you’re chasing and a lot of it is site specific. So what I went through might not apply to your build. I used a draftsman to do the floor plans etc for council in conjunction with the engineering plans from the shed builder. Then I used a certifier to get the building approval. Whole process is a nightmare. Getting the pad cut, shed built and fitout cost me around 200k.
We did consider that layout. I just wanted to keep all the plumbing close together and I didn’t want anyone walking through the lounge room while your watching tv.
Well done you ! I'm wanting to do the same thing. I will go Solar as well. Huge Logistics as I'm moving over from New Zealand. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. Finding reliable tradies who do quality work is probably my most important tip. It’s a lot less stressful when you have that. Good luck with your move.
Could you do a break down video of costs and how far the good old budget got blown by 😢, just about to undergo the same with a smbi (southern Moreton Bay island) build, great for fishing but a little more costly to do a build. Not looking forward to the extra grey hairs lol
It’s definitely a stressful process as an owner builder. Because of my site I had a lot of extra costs. It’s 250m from the road so just getting power up the hill cost 26k and I budgeted 15k. I will put a cost breakdown in the description of the video when I get a chance.
Mate this is the first video I’ve watched. Awesome job. Until the last shot I assumed you were building on acreage. Seeing your neighbours houses. I’ve gotta ask, what do they think about your home?
Who cares what they think...it's his property, his life, living it the way they want. Rather this than a boring cooky cutter house they produce nowadays..
It is acreage but it’s all Koala habitat so each block has a dedicated building envelope. So this was the only location I could put it. The neighbours always knew something would be going there. I also kept the height down a little to try not block their view too much.
Hi we have bought a 30 acre block in Northern NSW, who did you go through for the shed? I have a quote from Sheds N Homes and Wide Span Sheds. I have never done this before either, when fitting the frame do you need it inspected? Great work mate, love it.
Hi. It was The Shed Company that built it and I would not recommend them. Contact me on Instagram if you want more info on that. An engineer did have to inspect the build at certain stages and I believe he inspected the frame but I wasn’t there to see it. Good luck with your build.
@@AusAdventure Hi I do not have Instagram, but it looks like I will be going with Wide Span Sheds and getting a local to build the shed for me. I live in Melbourne at the moment and moving to Northern NSW. Can I get the shed and put the slab down, as I put in for the permits or is it best to get the permits before starting? It will be Tenterfield Shire Council.
@@buzlightfoot6389 I’m not sure what that councils rules are but normally you have to get the building approval before any construction starts. I wish you all the best for your build.

Alfresco kitchen? In Australia it's called a BBQ.
@@AusAdventure Yes. Thank you. Enjoy your new home 👍
Brov, top build! Mate excuse if I may have missed it but what did you do with the space upstairs?
Cheers mate. Mostly storage but do have a tv area and maybe a bar one day.
Just a quick question, what size is the sheet and the height? You did a great job cheers
Thanks mate. Shed is 19mx9m 5m high.
Hey mate, is that the total size with the living area included, or just the garage/shed area itself?
You done well sir!!
@@AusAdventuredo u have to pay rates on the land I want to do this
@@mikedavo4008of course he does.
Great video!, what are the dimensions of the shed and room sizes and who suppliedtheshed
? Great job
Thanks mate. You don’t want to know who supplied it as I’m not recommending them. Shed is 19x9. With 4x7 patio. Liveable area is 7x9. 🍻
Sorry bud, do you mean livable area? And is that 7x9 added to the 19x9 shed or is 19x9 in total? 👌👌
@@jahford3762ha just saw what I typed. Total area is 19x 9.
