At first glance I knew “Grandma” was about to THROW DOWN! That’s a OG cook! Y’all see her peeling them hot potatoes with her bare hands?!?! That’s a pro right there! My grandmother cooks them the same way!!❤️
I learned to cook from my mom, dad, and Nana. She is from SC and she always used her bare hands for alot. She is 90, 91 in Dec and because of her teachings the hot food doesn't bother me either. They call them oven hands. I'm 31 and I love how much influence my Nana has over my cooking
It's funny because my grandmother my mom and all my aunties we all take the little white stuff off the eggs that's the little membrane thought we were the only black folks that does that 😂
Potatoes the best potatoes is yams not sweet potatoes because when you boiling the potatoes with the skin on them boiling all the Pesticides and yams are sweeter so last sugar
Shoutout to all the grandmothers! Especially, the old school grandma’s cooking with all that love!!! Thanks for passing down family recipes and keeping the family traditions alive!!!🤗🙏🏾❤️😋
Your granny is the real MVP!! My granny raised me and taught me how to cook, by the time I was 10 yrs old I was cooking a full course meal! I miss and love my granny. Salute to your granny ❤️🥰
I use a spoon to get the white parts out. I have to!!! Lol. My mom boiled the potatoes with the skin on also!!!💜💜. I lost her 2 years ago and I just purchased sweet potatoes Today 😔😊😥🙏🙂
I loss my granny recipe 😢 but for the last two years I’ve been watching this video 😌 on the holiday I see my granny when I watch her everything is to the tee she used I cream buckets to freeze the pie feeling a week before the holiday . I just want to say thank you for sharing her to the world 🥰
This is a blessing to capture your grandmother making her recipe. Memories you'll be able to capture forever. This is rare in these days. Thanks for sharing this priceless moment. Cooking good is a craft. Pies look good.
Love to watch our grannies cooking. No weighting of ingredients just eye judging the amount and they always comes out good and delicious. I was taught to take out the whites from the eggs too by my elders in my family and it is something I have taught my own children up to this very day whenever they're using eggs. We younger ones cannot beat out grannies in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing.💝
Grandma's are the best cooks .I love food prepared the old fashion way because I learned from my Grandma. Her sweet potatoes pies look delicious and I will try to make mine the same way for our Christmas Dinner.....Greetings from overseas..Be blessed and stay healthy and safe in your Country..

Awwww man this bring tears to my eyes I miss them so much. I wish I still had those precious moments with my Mom & Grandma but this is how they made their pies they also put half a teaspoon of pure lemon flavor in their Sweet Potato pies.
Thank you for posting, I wish I had recorded my Grandmama's cooking techniques. I can only remember. My Grandmama didn't write down recipes. After 98 years of living a full Christian life, she went home to the Lord in 2020. This video reminds me of some of the techniques she used. I'll watch the peach cobbler video, too. Having watched so many videos, I learned that every recipe is different. Only time, experience, and what works for you will determine what recipe you use. For example, boiling vs. baking sweet potatoes. Using lemon extract or not. Removing the white thing from the eggs or not. The number of eggs, potatoes, cups of suger. It's all good.❤️❤️❤️
Blessing to record these moments...Wish had technology to simply record my elders recipes with their personal touches when I was younger....all those great family recipes gone.
Listen - Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp in the background is giving me all kinds of Holy Ghost feels!!! Playing gospel music while you’re baking makes it taste better. That’s a scientifically proven fact.
I love it I remember cooking with my Grandma I'm the only one who makes pie and all her desserts like her this year makes 11 years since she's been gone and it gives me great pleasure making pies and seeing family enjoy them my mom and uncle cry when they take a piece. Continue getting your Granny recipes. Abundant Blessing.🎀
Why? I have lived for 65 years now, worked as a sous chef for 20 years at a high end restaurant. Not once did we do that to bake our pies, cakes and any breakfast platter containing eggs. I see chefs on the cooking channel and never see them do that. So yea, your husband is correct. You are crazy. 😂
Tell Granny I said hi and thank you so much I've lost my mom and grandma I never watched them cook don't know how to do it . Now I know how important it is to know these things thanks again !
Oh my! Thank you so much Shae and Grandma...Wow! I just followed the steps and made three pies today. My family and I are very impressed 👏. Bless you and your Grandma for sharing with the world.
I loved watching your Granny make those sweet potato pies, I grew up with two other Sisters one younger the other older and I was in the middle and the most rebellious one so I didn’t spend much time in the Kitchen watching my Mother make Sweet Potato Pies but my two sisters did. I didn’t get to meet either of my Grandmothers because they passed away when I was to little to remember them, so Ms Shae because of you sharing your Grandmother making those pies I felt like I was learning to make those pies with my Granny I never met and though I was rebellious coming up now I can be proud to say, Now I can make Sweet Potato Pies. “Thanks for Sharing!”
This is a Beautiful recipe and wonderful memory for you and your grandmother. I knew when she peeled the hot sweet potatoes by hand this was going to be an OUTSTANDING SWEET POTATO PIE RECIPE!MUCH LOVE TO Y'ALL!💯💕
I make my sweet potato pie like ur granny does and we don’t really measure cause the recipe is in our head. This is the true and best way to cook and that’s why it’s our recipe ☺️😊

Love this video! I learned to peel my sweet potatoes that way also. Love the way your granny "measures" ... everyone asks for my recipes and I'm like well you pour this and that in, and I have no idea how much lol ... just eyeball it. Thanks for sharing!
I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your granny's sweet potato pie recipe. I never knew how to make a sweet potato pie and sweet potato pies are my favorite pie. You made it so easy to learn and follow. Now it's a part of my regular holiday desserts and people love them. Sometimes I make them and give them to someone as a way to say "Thank You". If I was there I would give you and your granny a great big hug...😊 Once again. , thank you thank you thank you...🙂
This video is priceless. Old school Southern cooking methods. I wish I still had my grandma (RIP) to make videos with. However she cooks just like my grandma so I had such nostalgia watching this. Your grandma got those blessed hands peeling those hot sweet potatoes. Mine did the same and taught me to do it. My sons don't understand how I do it. ❤️

Granny put her foot into those sweet potato pies. She knew exactly what amount of each ingredient she wanted to put in to making the batter. She did it and the pies looks so delicious and tasty. Thank you Shae for sharing. I loved it!
I enjoyed watching Grandma make those pies. It is nothing like being in the kitchen with Grandma, you can learn so much from her. She is from the best old school. You cannot teach young folks what she knows about cooking, because she goes off of her experience. My sister, learn all you can from Grandma about cooking, you can never go wrong. She is amazing. Thank you for this! I never had a granny to teach me how to cook so this was perfect for me! I hope you have more from your granny!!!
This is my favorite sweet potato pie recipe. None is better!!!!
I really loved this video, I make my pies just like this except I bake my potatoes, my grandmothers taught me how to cook and they’re both gone now and I miss cooking with them. I will teach my daughters and grandkids to cook to pass on the spatula. 🥧 Thank you for sharing your lovely grandmother with us, love you Granny ❤️
