I wonder (not knowing nothing from no thing), if wire brads would work.. maybe 5/8" with the gun set to leave them proud by an 1/8th so no tool divot mark. I found you from the cargo trailer you built, since I am building out a 7x20 (x7), my 3rd CTC. Nice work.
staples work better if you pre sharpen a row at a time. they slide between the fibers without tearing wood fibers so that they may be steamed closed for an invisible repair. I can get 50 percent to disappear to the naked eye on bare wood as close as you want to look. I have many boat building secretes. steam before sanding so dust in not in the hole
