God loved me enough to have me arrested, court ordered drug treatment, and now I have been sober 4 years!!! I felt God's presence right when I saw those flashing lights in my rear view mirror. I was a prodigal daughter and none of my new life would be possible without the love of God.

Amen. There is no greater fulfillment than God gracing us to be emptied of selfish-self, and filled with Himself: Who is Love. But such fulfillment always comes at great price; and that price only He can initiate, through our surrender, as we continually walk with Him through life.
It will take all eternity to begin to grasp the infinite personhood of God: Who is love; because the more we discover about Him, the more we realize how puny our knowledge of Infinite God truly is. What an awesome God! And how great is His love, that He graces us to be partakers of!

It is not "loving" to tolerate an abusive person. If you tolerate, you enable. If you enable, you condone. You must leave an abusive relationship if that person is unwilling to change. You can love them and forgive them but you don't have to be abused.

If someone only displays hurtful, toxic behavior towards another person who suffered a near death accident and struggles every day with sight, hearing and balance problems, is it reasonable for the injured person not to subject herself to the toxic person?
The toxic person has never forgiven my friend for marrying her widowed father. It doesn't feel healthy for me to advise my friend to subject herself to her husband's 50 year old daughter who was always indulged in her life and who my friend has constantly helped with the grandchildren. She loved helping but it always ended in disaster with his daughter. My friend has so many struggles without this toxic energy in her life. How would you suggest I advise her? She had the worst Christmas due to her husband's daughter and every get together is much the same.

That's not love and you should leave that relationship immediately. I do not interpret this message as in a woman should stay with an abusive man that is liable to kill her. That is just plain ignorance and you should never listen to anyone who tells you to stay and die.
