Thanks Vince! I definitely got a bit lucky on this one but I'm sure I'll also get unlucky on something during this challenge. Also, looking forward to your next one as well.
Seems unfair when the professional console fixer starts with a console and vince starts with a train. I hope he varies his repairs to other things than consoles.
I'm an American too but I gotta tell ya.... I LOVE Vince, hes the man lol But I'm glad he's introduced me to your channel. This series is very exciting. I really really hope you guys do this again. A REMATCH!! = )
Have seen many of yours and Vince's videos over the past few weeks. It's nice to see the approach between two degrees of aptitude. Vince does pretty good for himself, given his amateur approach. Also, it's nice to have a longer, drawn out video on occasion, which also covers some of the smaller details. Also, nice to just kick back with a longer video at night on occasion. Good stuff from the both of you.
There's a lot more strategy involved than one would think at first. One bad buy can ruin it for either of us. I have more experience with game consoles but Vince seems to have a wider knowledge. Should be interesting! Thanks for following and commenting!
I've thought of that...but I'm not sure that I'll do that on this first competition. Maybe the next one if we do more. I will be taking some risks with what I buy though.
First thing I thought. Vincent has gone out of his comfort zone straight away with a model train. Tronic just sticks with what he knows and knows the profit margins for.
Part of the fun of this competition is Vincent HAS to get out of his comfort zone to beat Steve. Steve's reputation is on the line if he makes big risks and gets devices that aren't repairable.
This guy is how I want to fix stuff. Vince's style is how I actually end up fixing things. Faulty BGA, throw it in the oven wrapped in foil with the bga chip exposed. I forget the details, but it still kills me that the "fixed by baking" method works, and lasts. And the person that owns the laptop I bakes beats it around, and plays graphics intense games on it still. I fixed it over 2 years ago.
Looking forward to watching these! Especially as it is a U.K. vs U.S.A challenge as well! I find living here in the U.K. parts are harder to get hold of but I am sure we will win! But good luck to both of you!
And, of course, don't forget the learning aspect too! I find that just as important. Ok, my level is lower than Vinces, but still, I am plodding along. Vince has inspired me too, that, you do not need expertise, it will come in time, just the good grace to know your limits, try to raise them, but don't give up if and when you are struggling. Thanks for replying to me!
Yes, that's ultimately why I like these types of challenges...repair matters. It's a throwaway world and people seem to be forgetting how to fix stuff. Glad you're learning from the videos.
Started watching MyMateVince and I really enjoy the fixing factor in general, what you guys are doing as a series is great and I can’t wait to see as this series progressing during the month what items you guys pick! Looking good subscribed for more entertainment you guys can bring in the near future :) keep up the good work 👍
Good luck guys, obviously I have to root for my fellow Brit, but you sir seem a down to earth chap and so I’ve subscribed to you. good luck in the competition! I will be watching both of you but unless Vince’s train is a rarity then I think you currently have the upper hand!
I think Vince is in trouble, you're selling current gen consoles and he's mucking about with Thomas the tank engine! He's gonna have to up his game a bit.
His strategy isn't bad.One bad buy that either of us can't fix could doom us. I've been partly lucky so far but also I've fixed a lot of game consoles. I imagine if we do another challenge next year I'll be fixing anything other than game consoles!
You got lucky there Steve. That was a nice easy fix and you had knowledge and experience on your side. I discovered your channel through Vince and as a fellow Brit guess who I'm rooting for?
Eh, how is it possible that the spinner has magically relocated itself while the warranty sticker and the plastic pins are untouched? Apparently it was unopened from both sides?
Read through all the disclaimer description. I would buy from you. I buy 'refurbished' i already know the console is preowned. Thanks for the diagnostic videos
I'm selling mine as Buy it Now vs auction so I can get them sold faster. They generally sell before the video even goes live. One of my strategies is to get them sold faster for a little less money so I can roll that money into my next item asap.
Great videos!! I noticed that you don't check the the ability to connect with the internet. Is that something done off camera or is the assumption that it works ok and not worth testing?
Why PS4 Region America after booting said: "See important health and safety warnings in the Settings menu." But in PS4 Region Asia says some of warning.(i don't know what's the warning is)
I like your channel, its cool that you break down the monies involved. maybe you could make some money in R&D from Nintendo or the others? Nintendo, Sony and Xbox are probably paying out about $20 -30 an hour X the amount of employees for the same product testing. though i guess they could just watch these videos too. haha
I think you both are equally matched because I do watch his and your videos and you do the same thing almost but I think it’s good for you to both compete
i feel like they lied about the HDMI in the ad. they made it look like an easier fix, so that someone would buy it at a fair price. but they probably knew about that disk drive
The hdmi cable the person was using was bad. My ps4 did that with my pro and I changed the hdmi cable and worked. But I typed this up before you said disk tray. But I buy all my games digital and only have 1 disc game that never leaves the ps4.
Tronicsfix LCC can u help me I don’t no what happened to my PS4 but when I start it I have try like 8 time keep plugging the power cord in and out in till it turn on then when it does turn on sometime it last a long time or a short time but then my tv screen will go crazy then my PS4 turn off please help me
Question.. I have a F$*ked up XB1s. If I send it to you will you do a vid on it? If u can fix it. You keep it. If you can’t, you send it back or have the option to purchase it for parts... thoughts?
So those thermal bolt-looking welds your talking about, would i have to worry about them holding that plate (the one covering the fan) or is it just the screws holding it because my ps4 slim is calling out for its first clean after 3 years 😅
If you're not putting your PS4 upside down I don't see how it would matter if it holds it in place or not. Also considering he ships those fixed PS4s to buyers where it gets moved about in delivery, it is probably fine.
My self I would never buy a used/repaired console cause you don't get any warranty with it. When buying a console paying $229 for a used/repaired console is not enough of a discount to justify taking the risk. As of this posting you could just spend a extra $40 dollars and buy a brand new PS4 Slim 500gb at Walmart. There is also the fact you will get a 1 year manufacturer warranty.
I don't know Steve, if Vince from England. I still love you, Steve. I think your speaking is really great. Always show your face and attractive, you know...
Could you do a Xbox 360 red ring of death fix in a different video and a short explanation on what usually caused it. I want a Xbox 360 (for development/playing original Xbox game disks but i dont want it to die from rrod and the info would be useful to other people that actually own dead Xbox 360's
If you have the av cable plugged in, and still have the red lights, its a bad gpu/cpu most likely (or connection to them). RROD is a general error but you can get a code by pressing two buttons. There is a site where you can find what your error code corresponds to. Gpus and Cpus in the xbox360 tend to overheat and that causes all sorts of problems. Solder can crack or even melt, the ic might burn and/or short, surrounding components can die etc. All temperature stress. If it's a bad cpu/gpu, you MIGHT get it working by reflowing if you know what you're doing. (Not in your kithen oven or with towels...)
I dont have a electronics degree or any fixing qualifications but just with my PC building experience and modding consoles, taking stuff apart in my childhood i could have easily fixed that. The girl that sold it obviously didnt have anyone techy to ask for help.
at the 12:20 you said you were going to take the rollers out and clean them , you would show us in a minute, well what happened ? that minute never came
I can't get away with anything! I filmed it but somehow it never made it into the final edit. I do have other videos with the rollers in them on my channel though. Sorry about that.
No one has asked,; What caused that part of the cd rom to get dislodged from its original position???, Did a drop cause that? Did play statio. Make it faulty??? Will it happen again?
There's no way to know. It was most likely dislodged from someone jamming discs in or out of it or maybe eve trying to put more than one disc in. No way to know.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments. What should I buy next?
broken nintendo switch or ps3
I really don't know much about PS3's but you might be onto something with the Switch!
I don’t know if you can find a broken one so easily but how about a modded Super Nintendo
Maybe...I actually haven't ever done much with those. I may a look around at them.
Broken Xbox One.
Really great video Steve. Nice fix. Well done mate you are off to a flying start. Looking forward to your next fix :-)
Yea done that one before , how about fixing the middle East problem next ;)
I love it when 2 channels / creators get together. Really brings out the sense of community. Great stuff as usual!
Yes...really fun! Glad you like it.
I'm an American too but I gotta tell ya.... I LOVE Vince, hes the man lol But I'm glad he's introduced me to your channel. This series is very exciting. I really really hope you guys do this again. A REMATCH!! = )

The "wait for it..." gave me anxiety
That guy who sold it clearly had no idea what he was doing , i feel bad for him :(
yep
They sold about 50 PS4's with faulty HDMI ports until they realised had the wrong input selected on the TV.
@@freddyking8742 damn
I may be rooting for Vince BUT I think TronicsFix will likely win... I can't wait to see the rest of the series!

Nice I bought 2 ps4 last yeah for 150 replaced HDMI ports did a reinstall of the OS and sold them 3 weeks later for 220 each
What? This actually happenned? And i missed it? Two of my favorite tech youtubers in a video. Amazing.
Yes it did happen
They are my favorite tech RUclips’s two
Steve u r a star,i fixed a few ps4s for my friends,thanks 4 advice
Hey thanks!
I love this battle.
My suggestion is to try something you are not overly comfortable with. :)
I've thought of that...but I'm not sure that I'll do that on this first competition. Maybe the next one if we do more. I will be taking some risks with what I buy though.
Agreed, the competition needs to be fun so try a repair that is something you wouldn’t normally do!
An easy fix is always a welcome fix. I started a repair channel this year and am hoping it takes off like yours!
This guy is how I want to fix stuff. Vince's style is how I actually end up fixing things. Faulty BGA, throw it in the oven wrapped in foil with the bga chip exposed. I just watched Vince do the first repair of this series. This is gonna be very interesting 👍👏

So lucky it was an easy fix, I love watching your videos. I want to learn how to fix game consoles as well
Yes ive been waiting for this collab Ill be exicted to see this.
Glad you're excited about it! It's been super fun so far.
TronicsFix LLC that’s Great.

Haven't I already seen the name "aylin sarabia" on this channel before? Possibly on an xbox one?
Like a Boss. Came from Vinces Channel. Nice job.
Welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
For those damaged screw heads you might want to use a dab of grinding paste, so it grips better to the tip of the screwdriver.
I think Vince is in trouble, you're selling current gen consoles and he's mucking about with Thomas the tank engine! He's gonna have to up his game a bit.

whats your ebay store name? dont see tronicsfix
He has a website.will have a closer look at the site. Looks like I break it, they fix it sort of thing. Good videos.
I think he sells locally to avoid postage and fees from eBay and PayPal
Wel that was an easy fix for a $79 ps4.
Yes, it was a pretty easy fix. Not sure why they were selling it for $79
Probably a faulty hdmi cable
@@Diabolus1978 Likely, but the real problem is that disc drive. They might have attempted a home repair and messed with the disc drive.

Really good fun watching you guys good luck to you both

Found you through Vince subscribed and looking forward to more Videos.
Welcome! Thanks for the sub. There's lots more videos on the way.
I noticed that someone place the disc in the bottom how did they do that as you had to break the little plastic tabs to gain access?
Great videos!! I noticed that you don't check the the ability to connect with the internet. Is that something done off camera or is the assumption that it works ok and not worth testing?
Lesson here is: A PS4 disc drive malfunctioning is quieter than a Dreamcast disc drive functioning normally.
Why PS4 Region America after booting said: "See important health and safety warnings in the Settings menu."
But in PS4 Region Asia says some of warning.(i don't know what's the warning is)
No idea....I'm sure they have to put that there for legal reasons.
@@Tronicsfix I would agree on this. It may be a legal requirement for the country it is to be sold/used in.
Playstation have always had that warning, maybe it's a Japanese thing
Europe also shows warnings about eye elipsy
No one else notice the random screw that is in the metal tray to right hand side off the laser at 13:00 haha don’t think meant to be there

If it continues to flash blue and doesn't turn white that's called boot looping which is actually very fixable if you know what to do
I made the most profit on 2 ends of the scale. Repairing 1980's Teddy Ruxpins and repairing Allen Bradley PLC modules.

Nice start did you clean everything inside that can looked a little grim good luck
Yes, gave it all a good cleaning.
You are the best... love your channel
@TronicsFic 12:45 if those pieces are broken then how should I replace them??
Great videos, I'm wondering if you do older consoles as well. And does your contest include the cost of repairing the item with replacement parts?
Nice fix!
If the plate had been previously taken off wouldn't those plastic welds already be broken?
i feel like they lied about the HDMI in the ad. they made it look like an easier fix, so that someone would buy it at a fair price. but they probably knew about that disk drive
Love your vids ❤

How about an xBox One S that shows E200 errors? How do you fix those? I have a donor system if you like to give it a shot....
That's usually a hard drive problem.

Anyone else think that the sound of the faulty disc drive sounds like a legit beat?
I hope you factory reset that. That had someones account on it.

hmm seal intact, but looks like it's been opened before inside....
It's not too difficult to get the seals off.
Listen to that noise... Me: So, Sony put a 3 1/2" floppy disk reader inside a PS4 Pro... hmmm, that's interesting.
Hi Steve do you guys mod consoles? Just wondering because I was thinking about doing it myself but then realized that would not be a good idea lol
Not usually but we might be open to it depending on what you have in mind.
8:15 Why didn't they just use screws?
You can't just resolder the joints on an apu chip?
why the cut at 15:39 ?
I dont have a electronics degree or any fixing qualifications but just with my PC building experience and modding consoles, taking stuff apart in my childhood i could have easily fixed that. The girl that sold it obviously didnt have anyone techy to ask for help.

Is it damaging or in either way wrong habit to connect and disconnect HDMI cable while the console is running?
Not that I know of. I do it all the time.
why every time a 1st day console comes out does it have to be solderball cracks and heat problems when will game manufacturers learn
Totally agree with this.

Maybe...but I'm not sure why they took it apart in the first place...maybe a disc was stuck in it or something.

People are wildly careless sometimes lol
Why? Not everyone is good at taking things apart 😀
