10-15 years ago I remember some talk show, bunch of guests on stage and Jeff (aka Walter) was merciless! I remember one of those guys was starting to really lose his cool and the whole time he was focused on Walter, not on Jeff!
I think it's mostly an act, when you have family there for a good cause, he drops the curmudgeon act just a bit. It's mostly Jeff that gets to him, how would you feel getting stuffed into a suitcase?
It's nice that the Girls were willing to do this with Jeff and his new Wife. Hopefully Bree knows how to put gas in the car now; and hopefully Kenna still has her twisted sense of humor.

Somehow I always see her as a Maxine type from the Shoebox Greeting Cards. Another interesting back and forth could be Walter interacting with Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets.
A likeable show who ALSO used to be a professional comedian to boot. It's always amazing when Steve has the families of other comedians on. You know it's gonna be a good one, like the Jackass one.
The key is character. The expression, the body language and the tone of the voice makes it so believable. U believe that doll is an old angry bitter man. A lot of other ventriloquist just brings a doll and speaks. Jeff's dolls have characters right on the doll. Even when hes not talking u can see the doll just stares at you bitterly.
Jeff Dunham's best character is Walter. That facial expression along with the words are hilarious. Although Steve caught himself talking to Walter he still continued to look him in the face while talking. Great video.

It's ok to talk to them like they're real. That's how celebrities interact with the Muppets. They know they aren't real, but in the moment they feel real. It actually feels like they're conversing with a talking frog
One of the funniest bits of comedy I ever heard was WC Fields & Charlie McCarthy going back & forth on radio. Charlie starts to get the better of WC & WC becomes irritated. He forgets he is arguing with a wooden puppet because the audience laughter is turning against him. So Steve Harvey has some good company.
Lucy did her last show, another famous puppeteer and she was so involved in a conversation with his main one and the fellow yelled he is not real. She stun and replied he seem so real. Funny scene.
It's actually pretty brilliant to bring out the character that is a Grumpy Old Man. You can't honestly get too mad him despite taking jabs at one another.
