It still blows my mind to this day that Disney hired HIM, Gerald Scarfe, to do designs for one of their movies. I love Scarfe's art so much and it makes me miss the times not only when Disney made one good movie after another but also when they still tried to give their movies their own art and voice through their artists (Gerald Scarfe, Eric Goldberg, Chris Sanders, Andreas Deja, Glen Keane...) and being a little risky like here with "Hercules". ❤
This video was amazing. However, the constant ads every two minutes really took away from the value. I digress, Hercules is my favorite disney movie ever! He is a beast!
I love this movie, i love the art style, and I love this unusual collaboration (and the music is amazing). This is why it’s my favorite Disney movie, and my second favorite movie ever (1st place is Gremlins).
I love Gerald’s character designs. A personal favorite of mine are The Schoolmaster from Pink Floyd’s The Wall, but all his others are very brilliant also, especially the original design for the villain in this movie (I forgot his name…)
@@stevethetrashcan1770 I like the overall idea of the trial sequence but I think it could have been done a lot better. I think it was one of the first sequences made and it had to be ready for the concerts and then re-shot to fill the aspect ratio of the movie, so a lot of compromises were made.
I would love to be a cartoon animator, leave my mark on history like everyone else in this noble art of animation, I hope we all succeed in our purposes.

And remember, his first animation was mickey smoking weed. I'm so glad Disney hired him
I doubted about.
Scarfe always seems so calm about everything. I can't imagine him ever getting upset or even annoyed.
As someone who dreams of becoming an animator like myself I love the time and effort they took to put this move together

The Eric Goldberg sequence was fantastic! Eric is truly a cartoon master.
Incredible doc. Could've watched 3 more hours of it. Thank you
I loved seeing this video, especially in the process of Scarfe drawing the characters and talking to the animators. It is all soothing.

=)
N E C E S I T O una version animada con esos diseños originales
You sure like cartoons. I do too. I know Ronald Searle and Gerald scarfe since I was teen. Very rare videos you have.
I wish I could see the full thing now.
If this is an edit, I'm curious what you've cut. It seems to flow just fine.
...well, until it cuts off abruptly at the end.
And that's the same guy who animated Pink Floyd's The Wall.
anyone found the same thing but for Mike Mignola on Atlantis ?
