Soft-strop recovery of lifeboat

Lifeboat used as rescue boat need to be recovered in the rough sea condition also. For this purpose are used soft straps lowered with the lifeboat, then falls are shortened, so returning lifeboat is not damage by falls and rings. When soft straps are hooked lifeboat goes up above the water till reach fixed pendants. After lashing this pendants to hooks by shackles we lower boat slightly and disconnect soft straps, then we lower falls with the original rings. When rings hooked in we heave up lifeboat to the upper position and rig it. See Chapter III/SOLAS 74 Regulation 17.5.

To some extent you are right but please keep in mind that soft strops or foul weather recovery strops are only required in those cases where heavy fall blocks constitute a danger to the crew.

next one, u used red strap. what's the name of red strap?

Red Strap is called hanging off pendant or Maintenance Pendant
