Really appreciate your upfront attention to the type of truck one would need to safely carry this unit. So many reviewers give short shrift to this critical issue.
I have a 2023 Ford F450 regular cab 2WD pickup for my Lance 1172. Its payload capacity on the door jamb is 6217 pounds. I ordered it to carry my camper and pull a 7000 lb trailer as well. It handles this load with ease. I've been in mountains of WV and CO with no issues at all. It is important to have the right truck with the right specs.
This floor plan is almost identical to my 1974 Sunline 9.5 , except for the long cab overhang. My camper comes in at 1800 lbs. this comes in at 4400 lbs! Mine has a wet bath but more room to take a shower than this one. Plus I have more room in my dinette. A bed for 1 adult or 2 kids also folds down over the dinette. My water and sewage tanks are not as large. But I also pull a 19’ motor boat, with an old 70’s Chevy truck. The RV manufacturers have gone the way of the Big 3. Make stuff so expensive that the working man can’t afford it. Campers didn’t require an expensive truck. The farm truck would do. My boat, camper and truck cost under $7,000 back in the 70’s. Camper, over 40 years old, never leaked, all appliances still work.
$7000 in the 70s, with inflation, is about $56k today. That's not even including the overcharging they put on everything these days. This thing is $90k. That seems about right considering it is also more than double the weight.
Yeah but your old camper doesn’t have a 1000lb bumper on the back end of it, something that is apparently necessary today for bragging rights or people that can’t judge distance when backing into a camp spot 😂😂
One of the coolest units I've seen! I could see myself living in one as a single guy with not much stuff. That dry bath was a very nice surprise
Go look up the Host truck camper, it absolutely blows this away. You definitely could live in the host. It is crazy expensive though.
This is the best nonslide camper I have ever seen. Thank you for showing it.
You keep over talking her. Let her explain everything
I have a dually Dodge 3500, with a payload of 5200 pounds but this bad boy is HEAVY! I don't want to kill my truck but it's nice.
Nice little overview but you missed out on the 810ah of battleborn lithium batteries that go with the 930 watts of solar as well as dc-dc charging and a nice victron inverter system to power the whole unit without being connected to grid power. The windows are also the ones with the dual screens or sunblockers in them. They truly made this to be offgrid for exteneded periods. Still waiting to see one in person to see how id fit in the shower stall.
Thanks for the info I want one so bad
Damn, the 920 got heavy over the years… I’ve always like both models of this camper… it’s a biggun now and still no slides which I can definitely appreciate and would prefer… my truck could never hold this beast 😂 my tundra would explode… always a pleasure JD, your reviews rock brougham
I’m blown away by the shower space and the queen bed, very impressive! 😎👍✨
Are you blown away by the $90k price?
Thank you for doing a review on a truck camper. Keep doing more, please. That Cirrus 920 is very nice.
Ours is on it's way. Went to Western Skies RV in Reno, a certified dealer. They said the first 31 are being built, and it was not known when another batch would be built. So we put our deposit down.
We're new to the truck camper world, so I appreciate all the information I can get, and we'll share information as we go. My wife loved the idea of a dry bath and no slide outs. I love that it's built by Amish.
We're having an F450 built for it. Looking forward to JD talking more about the F450 on some videos.
We'll be full time living in it for a few years. After I retired from Lowe's, Kelly learned she could retire from teaching sooner than she thought, so we're months away from hitting the road.
You will love it. We went up to sugar creek a few weeks ago and saw them building one at the plant. The only thing I don't like about them is that rubber roof and the fact that everything is electric. No boondocking unless you run a generator all the time. That rear step porch combo is amazing. If I were you I would consider adding a set of air bags to our f-450. It will ride a lot better with them.
@@boondockingamerica So far, we love it. We took it down to Arizona, and we slept very well in it for 4 nights. The F350 dually. 6.7 didn't care about the weight, even on steep inclines. We're still learning how to function with the solar. We'll get a lot more experience when we go full time. We can always get a generator if we need it.
Only ONE suggestion. The controls for the heating etc, in the kitchen are far back against the wall! Why? Bring them forward so I can see and use them properly.
I have a 620 and the Alde system pulls the air in from the vents located lower bottom of the cabinets near the floor(not on the floor) and the heat exists from the vents that runs along the sidewalls of the TC. On the 920, I don’t believe you would be able to use the “pass through window for backing up, the entry door window doesn’t line up and is too small… the TC does come with a backup camera👍🏽👍🏽
Wow so nice! Truck campers sure have changed since the 70s. Just like all other RVs I guess but this one is just extra special. Very nice truck camper! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻✌🏻
I have a 620 , and I use it 3 days a week , only regret I have I should have bought it 5 years ago , I’m looking real hard at this one , but I’m going to put mine on a gooseneck trailer so I can go to side x side parks , my 620 is my hotel for work ,, perfect for me ..
I've owned 4 truck campers over the years, among the many RV's owned. The last one was a new 2010 Lance 1040 side door entry w/a rear fold out tent queen bunk. Wet bath and cabinetry was a little weak, but pretty nice, very roomy interior. Same Euro windows and side awning as the 920, Onan gen set however price point was just shy of 40k in todays dollars, half the list price of the 920. That being said the 920 appears to be worth the money, very impressive specs. The Lance rode on a Super Cab F-350 Ford Dually. The wireless jack control was probably my favorite option on the camper.
JD did you notice that all of the water connections are heated for wintertime nice and sealed up as well as that aluminum wrapped in the bottom
Wow, love my Brookstone but wow. If I had a move there I could use this I’d be very happy.
Doesn't seem like this is marketed to sell very well given how specific a truck you need and the limitations it applies to your vehicle 🤔
It’s top of the line, I wouldn’t expect something this large to be a low margin high volume unit
It's more common sense than anything when it comes to towing or carrying very heavy items. It's really down to the weight, and having a truck that can support that weight plus the typical things people would want in that truck, such as their family.

It's sad that we have to break out the crayons and coloring book sometimes to get people to understand certain things.
I'm not trying to be mean I just get frustrated.
I'm a woman I'm 56 years old it seems like if I know this stuff men should know it.
But I guess I'm being judgmental so GOD FORGIVE ME.
Prob perfect for someone with funds and doesn’t want to tow yet live as close to that as a possibility without doing so🤷♂️…smaller niche…yet still glad to see they offer for those that choose
@DevineHopeFoundation I think the main problem are sales people and dealerships. Both truck dealers and RV dealers will quickly tell you you can tow anything with your truck. I had one tell me my 1 ton short bed could tow a 3 axel 20000 gvrw toy hauler bo problem. At least I knew better. Most people don't even know it's a lie.
I'm so impressed with this I can put that on the back of my 3500 dually .
Of course you'd have to reinforce the frame of some of these trucks because I've seen some bad things happened with big campers like this on the back of a regular 3500 without being reinforced. The chassis
Best to put this on a 5500 series cab chassis model, Bowen camper tray, and the camper.....nothing about 200k wouldn't cure. Lol
You should do a truck camper playlist on your channel, I like your reviews and it would be cool to see all your truck camper reviews in one place
Currently have a Class B....THIS is a game changer! Might have to trade the Van in for a BIG dually!
(and get THIS)
It’s a beautiful camper, and no question it’s very expensive! When I was growing up, at least in California, truck bed campers were extremely popular. You’d see them on the road all the time and sitting in driveways. Nowadays, it’s extremely rare to see one. The problem is the cost, the type of truck required to properly handle the weight, you lose the use of your truck bed, and you really shouldn’t tow anything, except maybe a small, lightweight, open aluminum lake fishing boat.
I could live in this camper full-time quite easily, and be very comfortable. There are a few couples that live in them full-time, but I wouldn’t try it. It has everything you need, and if you keep it mounted on the truck, it’s a heck of a lot easier to leave your site to dump the tanks and fill up with water and propane. You can also leave it at your campsite so you can explore the areas. The size of the tanks are another downside, but you could probably go a week without needing to dump your tanks, especially with one person. These are really made to fit a niche market, but I’ve always liked them.
Definitely would need an F550 for this. Funny thing, you can get an F550 (lariat) cab and chassis cheaper than an F450.
the lite wood makes it look classy
Glad to catch one of your last RV reviews. 😊
Those things are perfect if ya wanna bring your boat with ya. There’s a video on here somewhere that has a bass pro fisherman with a truck camper and he and his wife just head load up and travel around the pro fishing circuit. (Sorry JD, I don’t know which one or what it weighs) I thought it was great idea anyway lol. Forgot to add that it was a 4 season camper and had a 3500 watt generator, was impressed it was so well insulated.
So, it's possible to tow a trailer (given a truck with adequate capacity) with this camper in your truck's bed?
This was magnificent!!! One of the best I’ve seen
That is a WOW camper right there! Just wish it was not so heavy. I really need a camper for a SRW 1 ton.
I like it, would love to see what they can do with a slideout. But it is nice that you can easily walk through it without a slideout.
There are some good competitors - Lance makes one so does Eagle Cap, Host, NorthStar, Arctic Fox / Northwood - and some others (I’ve seen two of those brands) .. u can get a W/D in a top end truck camper .. this is a legit market and this unit looks like a legit competitor .. 3000 + lbs dry weight is the entry point so 4500 ~ 5000 isn’t a surprise .. they all advertise loaded into a diesel dually .. this one is a great looking unit with nice trim and some nice features
awesome looking and the dinette might even be comfortable!!!
Wow JD, really cool builders are coming into the market. So glad you are highlighting them.
NuCamp has been around for years. Their quality is excellent.
Cirrus will fit a 3/4 ton (the 820) & they have a model that is 1/2 ton compatible (the 620). They are made in Sugarcreek Ohio just 30 minutes away from me.
Very clean Scandinavian interior
Love truck camper. I know you don't do very much truck campers but like to see more
I love truck campers. The weight surprised me especially since there are no slides. At that weight I’d be looking for gas dually to try and get close to 6,000 lbs of payload. Nice camper though !
Very nice unit! Now I just need to convince my wife to get one. The toilet is not a PPP but everything else looks doable.
It's beautiful. The modern camper truck.
That’s nice that it has a dry bath!!!
Absolutely stunning $90,000 truck camper. Better last a lifetime.
It make more sense for trailers to be pulled or sat in the bed of 1/2 ton trucks. This will open up bigger market!!
Their model with the tambor bath door and hidden toilet was really cool
Nice rig, would have been nice to hear the lady/ rep give us the details, they might have been more accurate.
Wow that's better than Lance camper's!! Beautiful 🥰. It looks high end! They nailed it!
I was shocked how much space was in this Rv ❤💯
I have a much older 3500 Dodge extended cab (‘01) so I know it’s not qualified to carry something like this, of course. But when you say we’ve seen frames fail, I would actually love to see a video and some images about this type of failure (excluding personal injury). I am highly curious about it.
Watched a couple videos where Cirrus owners complained about the toilet being mounted right up against the wall. They said they wish it was on a bit of an angle relative to the sidewall for added elbow room ... I guess if you're left handed it can be a challenge. 😳
nice,,, now ya just have to buy the 100 k truck lol
I like that Flintstones looking one behind her
I’m gonna buy this as soon as I can
Really nice camper...
Trailer?😂 love your channel. I look forward to the vlogs.
Host cascade is my all time favorite. But I like all the host models. Hard to beat.
Cirrus - Kingstar - Northern Lite
I think these three truck camper brands are the best!
I remember when Lance was the number one brand. That was a long time ago.
Not an expert on this new camper but I understand big deal is the lack of propane. You should take another look and check out the electronics built in to make this a very capable boon docking trailer
Thing would be a monster if they do add slide-outs. Would love to see that too
Sounds like I would need a F550 flat bed.
I DOUBT it’s 900 watts of solar!! I’ll bet $100 it’s 300 watts.
Wow I'd buy it if I had the money. Good presentation too.
I really like this!
Thanks for review.. My HD dully Denali is rated for 6k bed weight, but I still would not want to tour north America with that much top heavy weight.
Very nice!!
Wow, it's really European inside, the fixtures and fittings and colours are the same as my caravan (trailer). Truma kit is excellent, the Alde system works like a domestic wet heating system. Even the main door is pretty much standard.
No slides is a big plus!
Wish they made one for a srw ling bed, this is nice
Absolutely gorgeous !!!❤
That is a sweet truck camper. Very nice. But I bet it has a nice price too.
My crew cab 4x4 7.3 standard signal rear axle is listed cargo at 5712
Without a doubt, the most beautiful interior I’ve seen. Stunning. Too bad it’s so dang heavy. Having to buy a dually, which really limits your usability, isn’t worth it.
this is a nice truck camper
I like NuCamp a bit pricey ( like everything nowadays) which you didn't mention how much was it. I would like to see a different door knob on the bathroom door and a fushed fridge. The beefed up rear bumper is another plus, I cringe when I see rv with no bumpers. It is a nice unit.
It’s about time!!
If you’re thinking about a camper like this be sure to price out the cost of camper tie downs. It not as simple as sliding it in to the bed of your truck. If you haven’t owned a truck bed camper you’ll be shocked at the $ just to get rolling down the road. You’ll need helper springs or airbags even my F450 needed airbags to keep from bottoming out. The idea of them is better than actually owning it.
The lack of a slide wouldn't bother me. Some campers are very poorly designed when there is a slide. The worst one had THREE. And it was impossible to get into the camper unless all the slides were out. I can't imagine the weight on a triple slide camper, LOL. If I get a pickup, I'll get a Cirrus and save myself the hassle.
I can see myself living in one of these rather happily. I'm almost afraid to look up the pricing.
Surprised the bathroom mirror isn't a medicine cabinet. Storage is too precious not to have it. Otherwise, it isn't too bad. I'd made a few other changes, but it's a good start.
That's so cool! I don't think I've seena truckbed camper in your channel yet.
I guess...35k? I'm not good at guessing these. You got me airly good at guessing pull trailers.
35k dollars? Probably closer to $75k
I have the 820,awesome camper, I just can't see the $90k for this 920!
can hold it and drive on flat smooth surface.
Seen our roads lately? I can't see how the truck would survive but ok
A washer dryer would great.
What do these sell for?
I’m figuring the truck, a dooley, would be very expensive, guessing this would be up there as well.
I know of one "½ ton pickup truck" that could easily handle that camper: my old 1982 RAM D150. Full disclosure: I had that truck specifically modified to be able to tow 40 ft. flatbeds with several times that weight on it, for parades. There's probably not even a 5th wheel it couldn't tow. 😋 The only problem is that once I'd finished upgrading it to tow flatbeds, it was nigh-undrivable without a load. That's why I sold it. It was like sitting on a concrete bench, when you used it as a daily driver. Hard on the ass... and annoying as 🤬!
Aside from my old Franken-½-ton-stein, you're 100% correct, JD! The only thing that anyone should consider towing this with is a dually F-550, or 5500 RAM/Chevy. An F-350 or 3500 RAM/Chevy would cave!
That Cirrus is not a bad camper, but if I was looking at something in that class, I would consider the HOST Mammoth first. It has slides, which kind of outclasses this one. There are a couple of others too. If you really want _"Huge Inside"_ with a pickup truck camper, there are some that really raise your eyebrows.
Nevertheless, this Cirrus is still respectable. The dual pane Euro style windows are awesome; and that solar package is incredible!
Very impressive
There’s so many lighter cheaper options out there and you won’t even need a tractor-trailer to tow them
Very nice
How do you use the bathroom sink? It’s tucked bk behind the toilet..
Very nice 👍
Just wondering..., how much of all this weight is going to be behind the rear axle?
Definitely for a 1 ton dually gas truck. A diesel would be over weight.
I didn't think about how much these would weigh
I was wondering why I liked all the units that had a sticker and was wondering why some had them.
It’s nice. I wasn’t expecting a dry bath. BUT I would still rather have a Host Mammoth.
I need a Mac daddy truck for this.
I’m guessing you couldn’t say but what was the price point? Also will it fit on like a Chevy 4500-6500?
I have a Truma propane tank gauge :)
So you mean that isn't half-ton compatible? Not even with the extra payload package and airbags? ;)
PROPER!
Awesome
