Hi Nancy. Love the colours that you choose for your projects and this tutorial was just what I needed at this moment! I am considering sewing beads on a quilt. Your video has given me inspiration. Thanks for your tutorial xxx
I love the "bead piping" you did around the edge of the first quilt you showed! Thanks for showing the process of sewing on the beads. I have always had a little problem sewing lines of seed beads on things because they did not look like a continuous string of beads- they always looked crooked and disconnected. I can see how going back through the beads solves that problem. Thanks for taking the time to explain this!
Great video! Can you explain a little more about casting on at the beginning. You seemed to be making a knot near the eye of the needle so the thread doesn't come out. Does this not get caught in the fabric? I can't quite figure out how you did it. I have always beaded with double thread with a knot at the end.
Hi - in episode 109 of the hand applique lessons i try to show that knot with a large thread and needle - we got as close as we could - I hope this helps - ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=Jo_M8xAmVoE
Dear Nancy, I purchased a bunch of thread spoils of all colors I tried free arm quilting with it my thread kept breaking it also was all lose in the back, one I do not think my machine is strong enough to do quilting, but my question is on the thread it says 50s/3 polyester, I was looking online today and I saw 40s/2 could you tell me what is the difference like which one is the strongest? or what do you recommend in threads and in needle size when sewing cotton fabrics. I have a light weight Brother sewing machine, I'm thinking of buying one that says heavy duty will that help if the machine is more a heavy duty cause my machine seems to not be able to handle anything that is to thick. Thanks Nancy I love watching all your shows over and over again...
Hi Brenda, first i would say get your machine to a sewing machine repair guy so he can give your machine a tune up and when you pick it up be sure to ask him to teach you how to adjustment the top and bottom tension so that you can do that yourself at home. a 40 weight through is thicker than a 50 weight thread. i often times use a size 90 topstitch needle when free motion quilting. have you watched the tutorials we did on free motion quilting? most machines can do free motion quilting but they all require "tweaking" to get the tensions just right. in what state do you live Brenda?
Another great teaching video, your son is doing a wonderful job as well!
