They mentioned in the livestream that (potentially) this would be the base form of the wand, but they would likely something later to upgrade it bringing it in line with the Dragon Hunter Lance and Crossbow. That is to say, I assume the upgraded version would probably be called the Dragon Hunter Wand, not this one.
New player, huh? Glad to see more and more joining the best MMORPG on the market. The OSRS team is exactly why this game keeps growing. They're certainly not perfect, but compared to other popular MMO companies, they are leagues ahead.
Clay pages, or more pointedly cuneiform pages Probably the closest historically to earth pages that we've had apart from etched stone. If we want to continue on the burnt theme: Eroded/weathered/crumbled
Brilliant changes! The wand is gonna be mega op when weaknesses hit, dragon bane and earth weaknesses! That’s absolutely nuts! Really looking forward to this content now, need need need this on my iron 😍
My guess is that they don't want to call it muddy pages because 'mud' already represents water and earth runes. So some players might think the book enhances both earth AND water-based spells. As far as a replacement, I think Primal Pages sounds catchy
Gonna put it out there for the best names I've seen for the pages (least favorite but still good, to my personal favorite) Fossilized Pages, Crumbling Pages, Petrified Pages
Shower Thoughts: Proposed End Game + Utility Best in slot Offensive Mage Book Item: Tome of the Creator Unattuned Base Stats (+15 Magic att, +15 Magic Def, +3 Prayer ) Attuned Base Stats (+40 Magic Att, +20 all Def Stats, +5 Prayer, +2% Magic Damage Boost) Attuned Effects: Acts as unlimited rune count for each Elemental Rune Charge. Bonus elemental damage equivalent to each respective book. Consumes charges relating to respective elemental spell cast. Attuned Special Attack: Elemental Eruption Releases a shockwave from the tome in surrounding area damage all enemies in 3 tile radius Consumes 100% special attack Consumes 10 charges from each elemental Page source Consumes 10 Creators essence (obtain discussed later) Consumes 1 Book of Dead charge Must have at least 5,000 charges for each elemental type, 50 charges from book of dead and 50 Creators Essence to activate. Components/Skills to create and Use: 95 Magic, 90 Prayer, 90 Hitpoints, 90 Runecrafting Tome of Air, Earth, Fire, Water Would require addition of Air and Earth tomes to the game Mages Books Each Completed God Book Book of the Dead Prayer Book 100 Creators Essence Charges: Holds 20,000 Charges from each elemental page. Load with respective elemental pages. Each cast would consume 1 charge of each elemental page rather than all pages contributing to a single overall charge count. (IE: Burnt pages contribute burnt charges acting as unlimited fire runes. There are soaked, air and earth charges per the respective added pages) This book looses its attuned stat benefits for as long as this charge count = 0 Contains 250 Charges from book of dead ( 1 Law rune, 1 Body Rune, 1 Soul Rune). These charges can be consumed to teleport just like the book of the dead. The book loses attuned stat benefits for as long as this charge count = 0 Contains 500 Creators Essence Charges. Each essence provides 1 charge. Consumed with special attack. The book looses its attuned benefits for as long at the charge count = 0 Unlocking: Grandmaster quest themed around unlocking the knowledge of Guthix and the power he incorporated into Runes. Creating of the book involves utilizing a magical essence on each of the elemental altars to imbue a creator's essence. Ultimately you will fight a boss requiring mastery of all the elements, and a technical magic based fight where in the end you unlock the secrets to merging all pre-listed requisites into the “Tome of the Creator”. Could include mini bosses for each respective element as well to learn how to imbue the creator's essence on each respective altar. Important Concepts: This book should be super powerful, reserved only to those who have dedicated the time and effort to truly become worthy of equipping it. Should be locked behind an achievable skill wall just like the inferno + Coliseum that revolves around hard work with a guaranteed payoff rather than an RNG based consumable. This should be a truly end game item representing ultimate power and utility earned by a player's dedication to the game. It is not an average item, so it should not be simply attainable by the average player. Special Attack should be a super strong elemental blast per the theme, however due to its major value in PVP, it should have high investment to use. Players utilizing this item would likely have endless cash as it is so dying with this item should cost them something they value (time) rather than disposable income. The imbuement of Creator's essence should be an untradable, timely process that relies on the player to go to each altar to actually create the resource. The Creator’s essence is that time cost. To aid with this concept, creators essence should not be storable in rune pouches to ensure a maximum of 20ish per inventory making the special attack a costly investment. Important to consider charge utilization with regular casting cost making the book accessible to ironmen. The special attack is intended for a high risk (cost), high reward PK KO potential. However general use should not be punishing to ironmen who have to grind for the pages themselves.
I see a bunch of comments mentioning "dusty pages". What I'm more interested in is an actual "dusty tome" instead of a "tome of earth". It means Jagex won't just push ANOTHER tome for wind later on, and it also provides for more utility as this one provides neither accuracy nor a significant damage counter-part such as either water or fire tomes do. Simply: more utility, more charges per page, and let it cover two runes - now for balancing, there are more considerations, but I genuinely think there might be a point to creating a Tome of Dust rather than a Tome of Earth.
The staff being both earth based and dragon bane is unwise. What happens after project rebalance is implemented and a dragon is weak to water based attacks, does the staff become useless, even though it is dragonbane?
Idk if anyone said this, but how would blessed d'hide compare to this new range prayer set - will it focus more on prayer bonus or be an all-round upgrade, or be less armor and accuracy stats.
its much cleaner being dragonbane, as thats essentially what an Earth focused staff targets anyway, and this means you can use earth + getting the dragonbane weakness which will make it actually BiS for magic i imagine. it still suffers because of Tomes, which i hope they properly nuke into not having any % dmg on them and just being infinite runes, as locking the offhand to a tome for elemental is really restrictive on usability. but 5 tick is unfortunately not that great, as it means its usecase at Great Olm is just.. not that good.
the pot changes are good because it means pre-stacked Ranarr potions aren't suddenly needed for these new pots (which again, are *insane*. They essentially give you 3 extra inventory spots of prayer in Infern oattempts, which is one of the biggest buffs that content has ever seen.
I’m just interpreting this from the live stream but I’m not sure it’s meant to compete with the likes of blessed d hide, rather a higher prayer bonus and less attack bonus. Proselyte has the same defensive bonuses as Adamant so maybe this will have similar bonuses to blue or red d hide - if it even comes together at all!
I wish they added the prayer regen effect to an item over a potion i.e. an upgrade to the dragonbone necklace or something. It feels better to recycle older items and give them unique upgrades but maybe I’m missing something on why it’d be a bad idea, the effect in question doesn’t seem power creepy
If you watched the live stream you would realise that alot of things were met with negative feedback, and i would wish youtubers could stay neutral with their opinions since they are influencers at the end of the day.
@@BloodReaper95 it's seemed more useful the previous iteration, the 3t attack was really cool, now it just seems like an even more mid game staff to bypass dragon tasks
I mean Valarmore is THE mid level content, thematically these drops make sense.. the only thing that makes this feels weird is cause the other Tomes were just added into the game without much thought
I don't think a dragonbane effect is going to let people start doing magic vorkath or hydra kills - vorkath has 150 magic and +240 magic defence, and hydra is 260 magic and +150 magic defence and dragonbane effect or not it's going to be splash city if you attempt to use magic on them. It could be alright against the lower tier metal dragons and the plain chromatic dragons, or olm mage hand - but even then I doubt it's going to be more effective than a plain old trident of the sea at high magic lvls.
If this comes out as a dragonbane weapon with the purpose to also being able to do magic vorkath or hydra, I think they would probably rebalance the defences of those bosses as well.
@@biertje234 My thinking is that they are going to avoid rebalancing the stats of monsters, which is why they are trying to go down this weaknesses route instead. I really hope I just don't understand correctly how they intend to implement these elemental weaknesses with magic and that it'll be more effective than what I think it is, because stuff like vorkath, hydra, cerberus etc just don't seem like bosses you'd ever use magic on even with an elemental weakness and weapon they're specifically weak to unless you have a weirdly restricted account. Also for a lot of it, it seems like you'd have a rough time using magic even if you could get reasonably good dps because your defence bonuses are extremely low with magic gear which probably isn't going to pan out great at a boss like vorkath or cerberus.
Dirty pages. Muddy pages implies that its earth and water. Maybe one day theyll make combination tomes and having a tome/pages called muddy would complicate that.
Dirty Pages is good enough, it follows the theme of Soaked and Burnt.
Agreed that's what i thought they should be named
Yeah dirty pages and then windy pages for the tome of air (TBA)
Dirty pages for a dirty book
hope they include nieve hentai
Not dusty pages?
petition to rename it to dragon hunter wand
Yea dueling wand name has to go, and dragon hunter wand sounds good and matches the other two

I like Dusty but probably has the same issue with confusing them for "mud" as "dust runes" also exist
I was going to say crumbling pages too, I like that idea
Clay pages, or more pointedly cuneiform pages
Probably the closest historically to earth pages that we've had apart from etched stone.
