Fun fact: in the 60s, comics in general, but especially DC, had a whole thing with gorillas. Superman fought a giant gorilla (the animated series changed it to a chimpanzee), the Flash fought a giant gorilla, the Doom Patrol fought a French gorilla, there was even a gorilla private detective called Sam Simeon.
@@MegMageReacts@MegMageReacts There are actually two gorilla/chimpanzee detectives in DC, such as Sam Simeon, as mentioned previously, and another monkey detective called Detective Chimp, who is actually a member of the Justice League, ally to Batman and works with the magic-themed heroes of the DC Universe with magical mysteries and threats. DC Comic loves its gorillas/apes/monkeys.
In this, Beppo is the name of a stuffed toy, in the comics Beppo is a super powered monkey and a member of the Legion of Super Pets. And yes, they're as awesome as they sound.
Seeing Lois Lane be the daughter of an Air Force general strikes a chord with me. My father was in the Air Force too, so I can totally understand Lois’s upbringing. To answer your question: yes, the episodes on DVD do play the intro at the start of every episode.
My first reaction was “Titano is a little too obvious of a name of a monkey destined to grow huge”, but then you see the rocket he goes up in is named “TITAN 0” and it gets a pass. :)
0:53 you don’t remember when Lois said that every time her sister visits she just moves in and in on the episode with mr myxsptlk. Also in the comics Titano also had the ability to shoot beams of kryptonite from his eyes but the show producers didn’t include it because it didn’t make sense within the context of the episode.
7:50 "Why?" Because when a pet misbehaves and acts wrongly, you have to discipline them, normally with a boot on the snoot with a newspaper. That's what Bibbo was trying to do. The joke is that he's trying to treat the monster the same way you treat a dog, absent mindedly thinking the result would be the same, inspite of how clearly outclassed he is.
DCAU just had a thing for gorillas. I like how this is a Lois-focused ep, who holds the key to taming Titano before he could grab her and climb a tower.
One thing I love about DC comics is how many gorilla/ape-themed heroes and villains they have. Titano is one of many gorilla/ape characters. Funny enough, Superman has two villains who are actually gorillas, *Titano* (not really a villain) and *The Ultra Humanite* (canonically Superman's first villain in the comics who is a mad scientist that transfers his mind into an Albino Gorilla body with staggering intelligence/big brain). Not only them, DC Comics has so many other gorilla/ape characters: *Gorilla Grodd* (psychic super-intelligent ape and one of Flash's villains/Justice League villain), *Mouseir Mallah* (another intelligent ape villain who is also French and acts as the bodyguard to another mad scientist villain known as The Brain), *Solovar, Detective Chimp, Monkey Prince, Gleek, Koko, Sam Simeon etc...* DC Comics even has a city called *Gorilla City* which is entirely populated by bipedal super-intelligent primates ruled over by Gorilla Grodd in the heart of Africa, hidden from the world, so it's basically just Wakanda but surrounded by apes.
9:28 This may be the only Superman adaptation where Lois has a good dad. In the comics, Lois's relationship with Gen. Sam Lane is.... strained at best.
The appearance of Titano in the 80s Superman comics was a lot darker, and there was a theme about animal abuse. Titano was being experimented on by a real jerk of a mad scientist. Titano grew, attacked Metropolis and Superman did get him to shrink back to normal but the strain on his body was too much, and unfortunately he died in Lois arms after. The most satisfying part of the story is the scientist gets in Supermans face talking about how insignificant and stupid animals are and how science can "improve" them, and Superman's hand balls up into a fist as if he's about to hit the guy ... but before he can say another word, Lois lays the jerk out flat with one punch! I can't remember in my young life ever being that satisfied by a single punch by a non-powered character since Batman knocked out Guy Gardner (also a good 80s comic in Justice League)! Titano does reappear every now and then in different comics canon, though.
Also, General Sam Lane in the comics? Brave dude, but not the best Dad according to both Lucy and Lois. There's love there of course, but it's a really strained relationship.
Hey Meg, you're getting close to episodes 16-18 of of the 2nd Season of Superman: TAS. Those episodes are a 3 parter (basically it's a movie). I'd suggest watching them together as they're basically designed to be a movie. I think you're going to love it!
This was a very interesting episode! First seeing Lois's childhood of her taking care of that monkey Titano until her father General Sam Lane had to take him for his space mission. Then after being lost in space for twenty years Superman finds him, but for some reason Titano was growing and yes Lois was the only one who could calm him down.
I have watched the Superman animated series through a number of times. This is the only one I skip. EDIT: this comment was not intended to bash the quality of the episode. Only the trauma of the monkey.
"Titano is going to be just fine"
*Cuts to monkey screaming in a space ship*

I need to meet this detective gorilla STAT.

Can’t wait until Meg watches more of the DCAU to go in depth with a few more primate characters we can’t mention yet 😂
And then there's Detective Chimp, who is still canonically smarter than Batman.
@@ПетрПетров-о6ъ9н I LOVE Detective Chimp. Awesome character in every way! 👍🏻

"Shut up and keep squeezing the monkeys" is one of the best out of context lines ever. I have never forgotten it after seeing this episode.
Okay that makes sense

Yeah no wonder Lois Lane is so tough and fearless😉😂

Lois saying she has a 'tiny apartment'... if your apartment requires DOUBLE DOORS it's unlikely to be very tiny...
She lied xD
Got Brad Garrett ( Robert from Everyone Loves Raymond and Voice of Lobo) as The harbor captain in this episode.
Bibbo Bibwolski, a recurring side character in the comics

Cheeta was a monky pal of Tarzan.

In Smallville, her relationship with her father - while strained - is still loving.
the hard cut to Titano tweaking right after they said he'll be fine is still so funny
One of my favorite Easter eggs in this one is Beppo is the name of the Super Monkey from the weirder time of comics
Cheetah was the name of the chimp from the Tarzan movies
In the comics Titano wasn't just giant, he also shot Kryptonite lasers out of his eyes XD

Funny how you talk about Lois's dad, usually in comics and other media, Lois and her dad are estranged
Yes, but I believe in this case they left aside their problems for Titano which is kind of cute
He's got the monkeys let's see the monkeys!
6:17 this part cracked me up. You don't hear a scream like that often 😂

Really can’t wait for Father’s Day
The original Titano had kryptonite laser vision.
We never saw Lois's little sister after that episode flashback! :-(
In the comics Lucy is Jimmy’s girlfriend at some point.
I think this episode is based on a 80's comic book of Superman, during the time John Byrne was taking care of the comics of the kryptonian.
@@dupersuper1938 I didn't know that.
the first animal in space was Laika a dog from Soviet Union (Russia)
The song plays at the start of each episode 😊

I hope you do the Justice League Unlimited Series someday 🙏
And Static Shock too
Geting real closer to seeing you react to Fathers Day and Worlds finest episodes
I don’t know if you care or not, but Lois’ dad is named Sam in the comics.
3:22 that was so moving 🥲
12:18 one of the best for me
Hi Meg hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Titano is actually a chimp, seeing that he doen't have a tail. At least that's what I think.
I have watched the Superman animated series through a number of times. This is the only one I skip.

2 more episodes until Man’s Finest
The next episode is a really good one. Of course, it’s overshadowed by World’s Finest, but it’s definitely one of the best in the series
I have noticed a pattern of Meg being super weak to tragic misunderstood creatures.
When I saw this as a kid I think it might have helped lead me to distrust animals.
Um. I’m currently obsessed with jungkook too. I will never be able to learn the dance break- but I’ll keep tryin!
Yea it always shows the intro
8:50
It's the DC universe, of course it would've turned a man giant.
Titano!!!!!
hi Meg
cheetah tarzan chimpanzee he in lot older tazan movies. that old one not to many would know
...I really don't feel like masculine is the right term or word 😕 😒...mostly bad fatherly parental vibes 🤔 but okay...❓

Nice you are watching more of Superman and this is
a good episode with Titano Thanks Meg.🦸♀️🦸♀️
