    Looks easier then I thought will be doing that in a few weeks, just did my starter on my r53 it took me 45 minutes to change it was easy and made me want to drive her more now. In the Facebook group does anyone come across the notorious gas cap light on the dash. Replaced cap, other thing behind the wheel well on passenger rear wheel and the other valve thing next to the super charger and the air leak still pops up

      I’ve seen the question asked and people said it was a gasket, but i don’t remember where the gasket is. If you do a search in the group you should find it

    One of the first things I did when I got my 2011 R56. I bought the timing chain pre chain stretch checking tool and a newest revision Tensioner.

      @@ProjectMini I'll probably do that sooner or later but the Mini is my one and only daily driver for now. 86k miles chain was replaced under warranty at 28k so should be fine for a while

    I have a question for you. I pulled the head off my gfs 03 Cooper s, kept the timing chain up so it didn't move on the crankshaft. Now setting the head back on, after I put the guides in I cant get the chain up enough to put the cam gear back on. Can I just take out the tensioner and get that extra slack or do I need to replace it once its removed. Im sure its not a bad idea to replace anyway but we're trying to get the car on the road asap

    Hi, does the new tensioner need to be in the extended position before putting back in or not?? Thankss

    Did you find out what the rattle was sir? I have a loud rattle too and have changed the tensioner. Put in new/used supercharger. Also changed arms and rockers. Rattle is still super loud.

    When you have taken out the old tensioner it was in extended position, the installed one was compressed. Is that correct?

    • @ProjectMini
      @ProjectMini  3 года назад +2

      Yes, new tensioners come compressed

    • @digidandan
      @digidandan 3 года назад +1

      @@ProjectMini how it will be decompressed?

      The chain tensioner should be manually released before you start engine. Timing chain needs to be tight.
