my R52 JCW started making aweful rattling sound, thanks to your vid it was almost an instant fix !!!!
thank you!! my MINI is forever thankful 😁
Excellent! Thank you - - old git, UK
You’ve Helped me out loads brother 👍🏼 thank you
Thanks man. Love ur videos very detailed
I am very grateful to you. I have not repaired any car so far and thanks to your video I saved a lot of money. Thank you
Looks easier then I thought will be doing that in a few weeks, just did my starter on my r53 it took me 45 minutes to change it was easy and made me want to drive her more now. In the Facebook group does anyone come across the notorious gas cap light on the dash. Replaced cap, other thing behind the wheel well on passenger rear wheel and the other valve thing next to the super charger and the air leak still pops up
I’ve seen the question asked and people said it was a gasket, but i don’t remember where the gasket is. If you do a search in the group you should find it
Thank you!
Thanks!
One of the first things I did when I got my 2011 R56. I bought the timing chain pre chain stretch checking tool and a newest revision Tensioner.
I just replaced the chain and tensioner when i got my R56
@@ProjectMini I'll probably do that sooner or later but the Mini is my one and only daily driver for now. 86k miles chain was replaced under warranty at 28k so should be fine for a while
I have a question for you. I pulled the head off my gfs 03 Cooper s, kept the timing chain up so it didn't move on the crankshaft. Now setting the head back on, after I put the guides in I cant get the chain up enough to put the cam gear back on. Can I just take out the tensioner and get that extra slack or do I need to replace it once its removed. Im sure its not a bad idea to replace anyway but we're trying to get the car on the road asap
I have asked this guy questions, no answer
Hello friend, first of all I like your content it’s very handy. I want to replace the chain tensioner next week. But what size is the breaker bar that you are using? I need to buy one that why I am asking. 😉 Greets from The Netherlands.
It’s a 24 inch with a 3/8 drive
@@ProjectMini Thanks for the quick reaction! Your a legend! Stay safe! 🙏
Thank you 🙏 you too 💪
Bedankt voor het vragen dutchie! Ik heb eergisteren mini clubman gekocht met een licht ratelend geluid op bepaalde toeren.
Thanks for helping us @project mini
Hi, does the new tensioner need to be in the extended position before putting back in or not?? Thankss
It does not. It will extend on its own
Does anyone have a video of the rattling sound that this replacement fixes? I have a mini r53 2003, 120K km
Did you find out what the rattle was sir? I have a loud rattle too and have changed the tensioner. Put in new/used supercharger. Also changed arms and rockers. Rattle is still super loud.
Check my video on how to diagnose rod knock, that was my issue
Do you think it can be done without wivel extension?
Yes
I just tried and couldn't...
my rattle was a lifter on the pass side.
Torque to 46 ft lbs or Nm ? Nm would be more like 33 ft lbs. ?
When you have taken out the old tensioner it was in extended position, the installed one was compressed. Is that correct?
Yes, new tensioners come compressed
@@ProjectMini how it will be decompressed?
When you start your car it will fill with oil and decompress
@@ProjectMini makes sense. thanks !
The chain tensioner should be manually released before you start engine. Timing chain needs to be tight.
I want to like this video, but it has 420 likes😂
Its your guides that are bad
No it wasn’t, it was rod knock
