    The show was very, very good. When we watched it back then I learned to understand and appreciate what an ensemble of players could do. Each actor had to perform a different role and ti was a great exercise for them. I remember being impressed with a performance by Robert Blake but I don't remember the episode.

      They rotated, even Richard Boone. A repetorary group. Taking turns playing the lead. Brillant show, too bad it didn't last.

      @@jeffballard7632 It's lasting in our memories . . . and on youtube and probably somewhere else. I've found some favorite radio shows at the Old Time Radio Archives and downloaded several shows to my iTunes and go to sleep at night listening to several shows on my iPod. Better than a sleeping pill (I guess; have never taken a sleeping pill).

    This was one of the few ventures into scripted programming from game show pioneers Mark Goodson & Bill Todman.

    Very classy. If we still had shows like this, our World would be more civilized today. BTW...very interesting title of this episode.

    This was REAL quality Television and Richard Boone was the proper example of this vintage NBC series from the 1963-1964 TV season that Game Show pioneers Mark Goodson & Bill Todman had over lorded, especially after their success with "THE REBEL" TV series on ABC. Boone, who had previously starred in "MEDIC" and CBS's "HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL" was exceptional and talented, and even tried to film a TV pilot in Hawaii called "KONA COAST" that Warner Bros.Seven Arts had theatrically released in 1968 around the same time that "HAWAII FIVE-O" was filming on the islands. But "THE RICHARD BOONE SHOW" was arguably a superior TV drama anthology and with actors of this exceptional caliber like "BERETTA"s Robert Blake, Laura Devon, Warren Stevens, and Lloyd Bochner, this series was nominated for 5 Emmys, one Emmy win, and 25 hour-long episodes that were filmed at Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios, with Buck Houghton (producer of CBS's "THE TWILIGHT ZONE") producing this series.

      For the same reason that Richard Crenna fans are not allowed to see Slattery's 'People On DVD, or that George C.Scott fans will probably never see East Side West Side released o VD

      @@JHarder1000 I just find it so hard to believe that the crummy shows of today get all of the attention and tender loving care at getting on dvds,but when it comes to real classic shows that we all enjoy and love they get thrown under the bus and get dirt kicked on them as if they were worthless and useless .all I have to say is thank goodness for dvd players!as long as we have them and dvds we have it made and don't have to put up with garbage.garbage needs to be tossed in the trash can not put on dvds.but it gets me very mad when you have shows of yesterday or even movies that haven't been put on dvd yet get the cold shoulder and are treated like this.,I guess they don't care if we lose these movies or programs we love ,they think we are interested in saving the junk that they believe we love .those people have absolutely no clue at all what we like and they don't care.we are dealing with crazy people here joseph.

      As most TV viewers know, Goodson-Todman produced many game shows, What some viewers may not know is that the duo produced a few scripted programs including this one, "Branded", and "The Rebel".

      I knew about "Rebel" and "Branded" because I've watched those but I wonder what other non-game show programs did they produced?:)

      Scanning through IMDb, I found the following: "The Web" (1950-1954) and (1957), "Goodyear Theatre" (1957-1960), "Philip Marlowe" (1959-1960), and "One Happy Family" (1961).

    Will All 25 Episodes Of This One Season Series Be On DVD?

    • @bearfedway
      @bearfedway  8 лет назад +2

      +Matthew Bulger That's a good question. There are numerous classic TV shows that have never been released on DVD because, financially, the owners of the series don't make money. Considering advanced streaming technology in addition to DVD sales, I wish the companies would reconsider. Thanks for asking.

      @Vickie OGLESBY this is getting ridiculous, vickie!what is it with these nutty people!?can't they understand one thing clearly!?We boone fans want to be heard,and want these great films and tv shows to be put on dvd!?I had just gotten done watching a hec Ramsey episode last night" the mystery of chalk hill "the saddest episode of the show and to this very day,we can't even get them to put this show on dvd!!!!It's safe to say vickie,we are not only dealing with crazy people but also with losers!!!!I can't believe all of these things are not on dvd!!!!how many episodes did the Richard boone show have?about 18 or something and hec only 10 and that's it!!!!let's see,they have no problem at putting the junk they have on tv today on dvd that none of us are watching at all.but when it comes to any of boone's programs like hec no one can't even lift a little pinky to put it on dvd and it has the least amount of episodes!!??goodness!!!!!vickie,we are dealing with idiots hear!!They can't be serious, if they really think we should be happy with this garbage they have on tv today being put on dvd!!those programs do not need to be put on dvd and saved at all. They need to be tossed in the garbage!!!! Richard boone's shows need to be saved and put on dvd!!!!!haven't these dummies heard of films out there that will never be restored at all ,because of film they had lost that can't be found or have fallen apart!!??us boone fans don't want this to happen to any of boone's films or tv shows we can't replace any of this!!!!boone is not here anymore to do any retakes!!!!!he's gone,since 1981!That's about 36 years ago!We can't get this beautiful man back,and I wish we could!right now he probably would be beating the tar out of these people who had not put any of these shows of his on dvd yet!!!!This is incredible those people seem more concerned at saving the garbage programs,than at saving the programs that are classics and should be the ones that need to be saved!This is making me extremely angry!!!!I want our boone shows and films saved vickie!!!!why can't we boone fans make those stupid people out there to see this and understand, can they honestly be this very stupid!!??vickie,us fans do not deserve to be treated like this,his family does not deserve to be treated like this and that sexy gorgeous man Richard boone doesn't deserve to be treated like this and he can't even defend himself, this is a outrage!!!!

    Richard Boone was very talented but this intro comes across as elitist, even snobbish. The BBC's method was to slip quality into their productions while the audience wasn't paying attention. That works best.
