Okay, finally. I'm happy. Dunn sounds happy and the Kraken still have a good defenseman. Hope Wright's ready and I would like Daccord as a back up Plus we've got Yamamoto. We're rich, we're rich! Wheeeeeee! GO KRAKEN!
I'm pumped about Dunn being resigned. But I'm also just as pumped about Kailer Yamamoto. Being stuck with limited time due to McDavid and Draisytl I can see how Edmonton feels that he didn't live up to his potential. But on the flip side HE GOT WAY FEWER MINUTES because Edmonton was behind more times then any other team in the NHL. So they played their top 2 constantly. Surprised that both didn't die of exhaustion because of it
@@CheapSeatsSports totally agree. Everytime one of either McDavid or Draisytl were hurt Yamamoto really stepped up and moved up in the lineup. He's better then the 4th line they kept him to and he's better then the 4th line here. He will earn more cause he's gonna get more time
Yamamoto played most of his time in Edmonton on the 2nd line. Nugent-Hopkins, Draisaitl and Yamamoto was the most common. When the Oilers put the big guns together, he’d stay on the second line. He had been ahead of Puljujärvi for the last few years
I'm not really up to speed on how NHL contracts are structured. What was the purpose of paying 9 mil year one and 5.4 in year 4? I thought that the AAV was what calculated the cap.
The AAV is what is used for cap purposes but they if I understand it correctly they can front load that money as extra insensitive for the player. Not sure on the specifics but I'll try to look into it more.
I don’t think Shane Wright is ready for the NHL. Hopefully he is allowed to play in the AHL after falling one game short of being eligible to play a full season in the AHL. I think Ty Karte will ultimately break the wall down and it’ll be a battle of what have you done for me lately like Coach Hackstol did last season where Yamamoto will sit in the press box a lot. We will see I’m so excited for preseason to come.
The only thing i disagree with is Wennberg being on the 4th line. Hes just way too good of a player to get stuck down there. He needs more ice time and is pivotal to the teams forecheck. Probably the single most underrated player on the team
No rookies? Then they’ll be worse than last year if only because of regression, especially that 4th line. Special teams were below league average so those need to be addressed (let Evans cook on the pp?). Planning on giving a 38 year old a regular shift is sub optimal
Well you have to hope a lot of the guys still coming into their prime or younger would continue to improve, especially Beniers and I don't think they made huge down grades from Donato, Sprong and Geekie.
Regarding the line mixing if this rookie is ready and that one's not. I think regardless you have to keep Bellemare in. He cannot be scratched.. This team was AWFUL in the Faceoff Dot. We need that consistency there. Id rather Tolvanen get scratched for a game or 2 then Bellemare any day of the week. The centers cannot be ones to get scratched unlike last season we don't have any to spare. So if Kartye is ready (honestly I don't think he is regardless of his dominance against Colorado) he sure took a nosedive in production against Dallas tho. And scratching Turbo is a 100% NO NO. That guy and Gourde are the heartbeat of this team. You can't scratch either one of them. So for the 3rd line since it was my idea. Tanev-Gourde-Yamamoto and 4th line Kartye-Bellemare-Wennberg. If Bellemare is kept in the lineup for nothing else it's the Faceoff and PK. He's dynamic at both those aspects of the game. Scratching him is the wrong move
I think bellmare was brought in to teach the young kids how to win faceoffs. He's a season away from retirement lol. The guys in his upper 30s. I'm fairy sure he'd be happy to get a paycheck and join practices. I could see them doing him as a healthy scratch to bring in some of the younger taleny early in the season to test them out. There are a few people on the cusp who they also might want to get exposure to a guy like that before he retires.
@@kolebowyer3837 but again. Most teams kept Bellemare in for DZone Faceoffs and PK Faceoffs. He really didn't play anything else. Not in Vegas or was it Philly he was at last year I can't remember. But still he is a Faceoff specialist. He should be in the lineup if just for that. This team was 31of 32 last year in Faceoffs. That can't happen again. And we let our best Faceoff guy go that was Morgan Geekie. He was a whopping 47% in the Faceoff but he was the best we had. I never saw anyone try to tie up the opponent to get help from a winger either. That never made sense to me.
Bjorkstrand, Gourde, Tolvanen should be a solid line
Worked well in the playoffs!

Yeah I really hope he breaks out in Seattle, I think he's better than what he was limited to in Edmonton

Oh, no! I thought for a moment that Dunn rethought his contract and tendered his resignation 🫢
My bad lol
