thought oli's analysis on gaza was spot on. violence will spawn violence. how horribly depressing to think that the conflict may only cease once israel has reached its ultimate 'objective'...
Because 9/11 was the American Oct/7... the date which history started… except the US is more culturally dominant, so we have adopted their version of history starting on that date with great obedience due to the totalitarian measures enacted to ensure we did, adopted a new version of the word "terrorist" to mean "without cause" etc etc. The creation of Israel wasn't an event, it's an ongoing process, a European/American invasion of Arabia, our people, our weapons... we call them "Israeli" to pretend that they don't come from us, and we adopt narcissistic nationalism to pretend our victims are at fault and there's nothing we can do. There is something we can do, we can stop the invasion. We have all of the laws that would make it all a crime, people call it "international law", but we exclude Palestine from them all, it's a choice... that's what "recognising as a state" is all about. We have this one group of people who we can do anything to, and it's not a crime. We're N*zis (the '*' for 'a' is to avoid auto-deletion... nothing totalitarian there!)
@@chatham43 or israel returns the 1000s of hostages uncharged in prisons? If you think the israel govt cares one single bit about hostages outside of using them as a political pawn to inflicted further war crimes you are either a liar or a fool.
I wrote a longer comment about how... um... nine/eleven was like America's oct/seven, but being culturally dominant, we accepted Americas "history started on this date", and the totalitarian measures that stop people knowing that they were both responses to the exact same thing... I was pretty careful but the comment was still filtered. So I'll just have to leave ya with pointing out that "international law" only comes into effect once a state is recognised, but we don't do this so we can send people and weapons to slowly take it. We're not a powerless country, we're the baddies, we're the invaders, along with the other non-recognising countries. (quick edit to check for filtering)
Taxing small business owners is not an attack on “working people”. Businesses are a separate legal entity and therefore by increasing employer NIC it increases the companies tax liability, not the personal tax liability of the owner.
Just to note, Farage not being an MP in 2016, when he went out there to support Trump... Makes no difference. These supporters going aren't exactly MP's now are they.
The idea that there’s no difference between Harris and Trump or that Labour are far to the left of the Democrats is definitely not true. The top earners in California pay over 5p more than they would in the UK.
idk, it's one I struggle with because on some issues Labour are way to the left of Democrats - healthcare would be the obvious one. On the other, Democrats seem a *bit* more aligned with the US trade union movement which I'd argue puts them (ironically) slightly to the left of Labour in regards to securing pay deals. The democrats won't look at any serious gun control, Labour outright banned handguns after Dunblane - but is that a "left" issue? Labour are looking at nationalising rail (again), but AMTRACK nationalised US rail in the 70's and it's stuck since. The USPS is still nationalised (yes the Tories sold off Royal Mail) but Labour don't seem interested in re-nationalising. I think on a case by case basis, it's not clear who's "more left", so it comes down to as much as what you perceive as "left wing" values. One that stands out to me is trans rights and broader LGBT issues - that seem to divide all parties in the UK (Theresa May for instance supported self I.D.) but Starmer doesn't seem all that interested- meanwhile Obama and Clinton started out opposed to same sex marriage, meanwhile it was Tories who passed that into UK law (though admittedly it went unopposed by any Labour MP at the time) - though Blair clearly had the mandate and majority to pass it much earlier, had he so chosen... and I do genuinely wonder if that was up for debate in the last term of government, would Biden have signed the bill?
the idea that there isn't much light between trump and harris is completely nuts. they have painfully similar positions on gaza, but trump's one of the most dangerous people in global politics at the moment. she's bland, boring, and bad on gaza - trumps own vp called him americas hitler
You know, it's funny - I don't usually succumb to parasocial lines of thought, but seeing Oli chew gum, I went from "I wonder if he's finally fully kicked nicotine." to "I wonder if it's for insurance purposes for his family." The internet brain rot is fucking poison, man.
Hello, I’m a small business owner and let me tell you, we are not the enemy. Redirect your hatred toward tax dodging multi-national corporations with a uk base. Thanks
Some times on Star Trek they meet aliens with strange dress sense and weird customs. I've always seen ties as being one of those things, like those stupid wigs worn in upper courts. It's just a bit of fabric which has to be tied around the neck in a particular method, and is asking for trouble if it gets caught in something. Any other part of the body and you would be okay, but it has to be the neck for some reason. And then a special shirt has to be worn to tuck most of it away so it can't be seen from most angles. I've turned away jobs before where the office is filled with people observing that strange custom. As under 50's find them mostly to be something your grandad wears, I'm pretty sure they will go the way of the top hat as the boomers gracefully exit the planet they've wrecked.
Who the hell is going like "Well I didn't know who to vote for but since Right Honourable Sir Keir Starmer Lord of Whatever the Fuckshire, of Whatever the Fuckshire is here to lecture me"...?
You're on your high horses about Israel now, but I'm old enough to remember when you had Oli's Israeli mate on a couple of months into the war, didn't challenge any of his Zionist talking points about Gaza, and bumlicked him relentlessly.
It's better to be waking up slowly than not at all... was it Oli's mate, or Eva's? I don't remember, but yes, the racism just stated as fact and accepted... like how they have to use violence because it's "the only language they understand"
Doesnt that describe starmer entire approach to everything? vague statements and 'we are not them' no wonder he got less votes than corbyn... i fear he will be a one term PM and we will have to suffer under some horrific tory-fasc love child

The US idea of far left or socialism is not how the rest of the world sees it.
Even Bernie Sanders is pretty much a centrist
Yes, the number of signs in my area saying save America from socialism vote Trump are depressingly high. If only.
Taxing small business owners is not an attack on “working people”. Businesses are a separate legal entity and therefore by increasing employer NIC it increases the companies tax liability, not the personal tax liability of the owner.
But that effects the income of the small business owner which they’re suggesting would have a bad impact on the economy
