  • I just got back from a rock hounding trip to Deming. It was fun and I found lots of cool rocks to take back to the shop. Here are some of those rocks before and after slabbing. Do you have a favorite?

Thanks for slabbing what you found! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with what you found. If you are looking for another place to search in NM, I rockhounded the Lake Abiquiu area last Fall and found some decent material. The campground on the Southern part is filled with agate but nothing with any specific figure. I picked up some of the material that had interesting color but haven't done much with it. There are some great fluorite deposits there too. I also made it up to the Nacimiento Mine area and grabbed some nice copper blueberries, some black and green petrified wood, and a few thunder eggs. I didn't have time to hit the seam agates that are supposed to be in the Southern Jemez Mountains area.

Thanks for watching James, and also for the information about the other sites! They sound pretty cool.

I liked that fatty quartz steak rock! I say win overall…We don’t see this stuff in Texas.

I hope they start getting better than C's. You went a long ways to only get medium grade materials. I'm looking forward to seeing those Thundereggs.

Hopefully they will 🤞. I have started cutting the Thundereggs and so far I’m pretty happy with the results. I’ll have a video out soon.

I think some of them would be cool if tumbled....you might face polish one surface to see.

At about 8:24 I thought I saw a little banding around that dark spot on the left. Am I seeing things?

You’re not crazy Jeannie, there’s definitely a little bit of banding there. Thanks for watching!
