- Hi I’m a farrier from the uk today I trimmed and replaced old worn out horse shoes on Tia.
It is incredible to see how worn down these shoes are after 7 weeks.

Great video. Quality of the video is so clear. They were definitely worn out 😂😂 getting their monies worth. It’s raining in the uk 90% of the time you probably hardly work out in the sun 😂

Hello Peter, as someone who has started watching you work with all the love and care that you put into making sure that all have shoes to be proud of. Could i ask, firstly why do you not have a stool to take the weight off whilst you work, it must be so hard on your back taking the full weight of the leg in order to work on preparing to shoe the horse. The shoe fitting why do you score the new shoe onto the horse, i know its not painful but wondered why its done. Really enjoying your work

@@Peterthefarriershe must have been working really hard. Her nails had not grown out much. I am wondering why the hoof oil is only on the nail? When I put oil on my nails I really rub it into my cuticles. I have never seen a farrier put oil on a horses cuticles, so there must be a reason.

He’s put it in the video description this was 7 weeks so must of done a lot of work 😊 normal shoeing cycle in the uk is 6-8 weeks
She's lost her slasher shoes and gained safety shoes
She will definitely have a bit more grip 😊

I am great thank you. You normally change shoes between 6 and 8 weeks. This horse had done 7 weeks.

Gosh that was a worn down shoe, considering only done 7 weeks ago. Do you think it is because of being on the road a lot, either out hacking or used to draw a carriage? I find it all so interesting. 😊
Lots of work on the road. It is hacking she is not used on a carriage 😊.

It's when I watch you that I realise how crap my farrier is, and he shoes for hoys horses....only available one for me unfortunately

How long does a horseshoe normally last?
Approx 100 miles. Average 6 weeks.
