In Japan, they don't distinguish between crows and ravens. In Touhou the only difference between ravens and crows is that ravens have red eyes. Plus Okuu did eat/merge with Yatagaresu whom is identified as a crow and therefore could be considered both a crow or raven or both

I know. It's just the overboard portrayals, and the fact that the focus always seems to be on her strength and nothing else. I know it's a big part of who she is, but still.
