I can’t believe they managed to make a child friendly South Park reference
Ikr
Believe it.
Took me 12 years to finally figure the joke
@@jadsi this Reference Is Better Much Better
It's easy it's called being funny
Are we not gonna talk about how Francine's "I'm outta here" is likely referencing "Screw you guys, I'm going home"
Ooooooh. I see now
Or when Buster gets smashed and Francine says "Hey you smushed Buster, hey come out!" is a reference to "They killed Kenny, you bastards"
@@ethanw4702 i mean everyone in the comments has pointed that reference out, just not the one i mentioned.
Which is doubly weird because IIRC Francine is Jewish.

I only started watching this episode in 2007. It’s pretty nostalgic. The music playing when Arthur is in the UFO makes it even better. Sometimes I wish I could just be trapped there forever.

@Anthony Robinson oh and bringing that banned episode as the only example makes it even perfected Lol 😆
Arthur Park S1E1: Buster gets an anal probe
The creators knew damn well what they were doing. This is just perfection.
god bless publicly funded tv
Well yeah they knew what they were doing. How else would they be able to make a parody otherwise? 🤔
I wonder what Trey's and Matt's reaction to this was.
They would be like:good for them
I'm sure they loved it.
This is one of my favorite episodes of Arthur and this is an homage to Cartman gets an anal probe which was the pilot episode for South Park.
Later in this episode they even do other references such as thats 70s show and Beavis And Butthead which is really amazing. The writers for Arthur back in the early 2000s were amazing almost comparable to pre movie SpongeBob
Binkys like cartman aswell as Arthur surprisengly
a lot of the writers and producers back then were well aware of adult humor and shows. and im sure they watched it . there were other shows like powerpuff girls who put in a cartman reference in there too/

This was one of my favorite shows to come home from school and watch when I was little. When I got to my 20s and found out it was STILL airing, I checked it out, and it was still pretty good. Arthur was such an awesome show. ☺️
It proves that Arthur’s pretty mature for a kids show, the fact that they parody South Park.
This is hands down the best Arthur episode in the entire franchise.
I love how Arthur isn't afraid to make references to adult cartoons, when usually, its the reverse.

Yeah. South Park airs WAY past a kid’s bedtime.
I didn't think broadcasting after midnight was a thing. Usually TV stations signs off for midnight then starts broadcasting again when it's morning.
my bedtime as a kid was 3 am lol
They usually had it airing during the day lol. My brother used to watch it a lot.
Didnt stations start airing 24/7 around the late 80s?
This episode is from 1999, Southpark used to hair during the day at that time.
I'm going down to Arthur Park because Matt Damon told me I'll never eat lunch in his town again.
There’s friendly faces everywhere and humble folks without temptation and there’s ample parking day or night and people spouting “howdy neighbor”
I'm heading up to Arthur Park because they told me I could unwind
Hey, our town is bigger, damn it! Right down to the little granite!
@@carloso5910official so come on down to Arthur Park and meet some friends of mine!
The fact that they could get away with a full on South Park reference is beyond crazy.
Francine is jewish. Francine. Is. Jewish. Am I the only one who is pointing this out rn?
I was going to say I can't believe they got this on PBS, but then again, there was the Bleep episode, complete with "Sopranos" parody, so someone up top was obviously pretty chill.
Not only did Arthur make a reference to South Park they also did it with Beavis and Butt-Head and they're both really funny
Just asking, am i the only one in this comment section who knows that Francine is jewish?
In the same episode
Now if they do a family guy or Simpsons one, Arthur would reach legendary status🤣💯💯
I can't believe they made a parody to South Park in a kids show, at least there was no cussing in it that's a good thing.
@Anthony Robinson I know that, but I'm saying that's a good thing and they make a joke of it.
I like the part where they said “Hey!”
There's something special about watching or playing games that kids cannot watch or play when you're young, seeing it being parodied in a children's show. I remember I played MGS before Smash Brawl, and I went crazy over the fact that Snake was in Smash Bros Brawl even though I was in middle school.
Francine's Cartman impersonation is spot on.
Bruh francine is obviously kyle. Heres what they have in common:
Both act mean at times but are actually nice
Both hate spoiled kids
Both are Jewish
I remember watching this as a kid and being so confused by the sudden artstyle change.
I remember this! This was one of the few times arthur managed to actually get my attention as a kid.
I think the “Hey you squished Buster.” Is a reference to Oh my god they killed kenny
Arthur in South Park Style
This episode reminded me of Channel Chasers because of the way Arthur and his friends are in the South Park, Beavis and Butthead, Dexter’s Laboratory, WWE and Dr. Katz and changes their animation styles along the way except it’s coming up with ideas for an animated series instead of going from channel to channel. This is my favorite part of the episode, The Contest. Imagine what would happen if Eric, Kyle, Stan and Kenny visited Elwood City and meet Arthur and Eric complained that he can’t swear because Arthur is a kid’s show and South Park is a adult’s show. It’s funny that that they made a kid friendly version of South Park. Buster is Kenny, Francine is Eric, Arthur is Kyle and Stan is Brian. Instead of killed, it’s just squished. Like the Simpsons, Family Guy and SpongeBob, Arthur and South Park are one of the longest animated shows on television. Like the Simpsons Guy (The Simpsons and Family Guy crossover), I think it would be funny if they make a crossover between Arthur and South Park because it can be a battle between a children’s show and a adult-themed show. It could make inside jokes about why kids shows and adult shows aren’t equal and in the end, they can understand why their shows are different. It’ll be like the Simpsons Guy’s inside jokes about their compilation and their similar characters.
Maho Mushi
What's crazier is that I remember the "hey look they're here" part was used as part of thier promotional of the show.
it should have been binky instead of the brain so that way they have a cartman replacement
oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see what you did there
Yeah binky should have played Cartman it would have made more scense that way
When a kids cartoon references an adults cartoon
Watch Arthur's lip sync after the aliens toss him out of the UFO. He says "What the-" but his mouth is animated like he says the F-word right after he says his line. The audio for that word is obviously not used because this is a children's show. I get in this style of animation the lip sync is not as complex, but that would really make this like South Park Arthur. The creators knew what they were aiming to imply....
This show had so many adult show references, its kinda sick
Arthur was a strange show, from the hidden adult Easter eggs to the straight up nightmare fuel that they sometimes showed. The friggin Broccoli head scene, the Hamburgers chasing binky in his dreams scene, the wierd ass wizard D.W portrayed Arthur as in her name origin episode.... yeah this show was messed up,way more than the Simpsons.
I can’t believe it I’m just happy about South Park reference in powerpuff girls but I like it in this aswell
I still can't believe they got away with this
Parodies are completely legal. Weird Al made a career on them.
brendalg4 I think he meant as in getting past the censors.
@@dylanintendisney he might have meant that but it would have no problem getting past the censors. They changed everything that would have been possibly offensive. "Screw you guys, I'm going home" became "I'm outta here". "They killed Kenny! You bastards!" Became simply 'They squished Buster" etc.
i love how they make the voices a little rougher to match the way the kids in SP talk, lol. this reference blew my mind when i was a little kid
I like this a lot. I feel like they were just so enamored with the old charming felt art-style and just wanted to try it out as an homage. I think thats really cute.
francine and kyle are so similar though
they act mean sometimes, but are actually nice
both are smart and athletic
both hate spoiled kids
both have the same religion
The guys making Arthur must have loved the shit out of doing this! 🤣
A kid friendly version of South Park
I wonder if kids at the time are very unfamiliar with this reference to South Park.
(Fun fact. The voice of Jane Read- Arthur’s mom- was in Heavy Metal 2000. And whenever I think about Heavy Metal or South Park... I hear Kenny whooping. I hear Sammy Hagar singing. And I got to sing along with him)
I'm honestly impressed they did that. I was like.. "Wow!"
