the fact that it took 15 NG+ and 15 retries to kill demi-fiend means a lot.
only to find out later on he made the fight more difficult for himself by just blocking physical. truly, the farming made him lose some brain cells in the process

The sad truth is you don’t even kill Demi fiend he just stands right after the fight ready to fight you again.

Fun fact: endure, enduring soul, and whittled goat all stack on each other so if you had endure in place of drain phys you could cheat chaotic will 3 timed in stead of 2
So with the actual easy way to beat him (4 scripted Chaotic Will), he can reject 3 of those outright and that's not even considering that he can just dodge them. And yet he beat him the HARD way with him spamming Chaotic WIll like no tomorrow
He is truly a Deus (God)
The only issue would be that Endure leaves you at 1 HP iirc, so if you got hit with it early during the enemy turn you'd have to pray he and none of his demons attack you for the rest of the turn.

Chaotic will is essentially a luck check. Having high luck will lower the chances of being insta killed, but still it’s never guaranteed. Even at max luck there’s still a slight chance for chaotic will to land, but with abyssal mask you’ll dodge it 90% of the time.
The fact that it only goes up to 90% is such a huge middle finger and also so in line with how absolutely horseshit SMT is when it comes to RNG in general lmao.
@@ubermaster1 90% is mostly a rough estimate, I’ve fought the demi fiend many many many times, and no matter how much luck you have there will always be a chance.
Abyssal mask works every time, 90% of the time.

So from my guesses...
10% is realizing that the fight is MUCH harder than anticipated (plus 23k+ Gaea).
20% is from the NG+15 experience.
15% is from all 15 attempts after the NG+15.
5% from the victory.
50% from the realization that he made the battle much harder on himself.
And the extra 100% from the fact it's a video and his trauma will be remembered.
This aged well when Deus fought Seth in DDS 2.
I just wanna say how good this video and the original smtv demonless video are. Not only are they impressive as challenge runs, but they're also just really fun and well made videos. You're a great narrator and all the little gags throughout the videos (both spoken and visual) really made me laugh. Good job!!

Fun fact/theory: Pixie being in the Demi-Fiend's party (made me giddy when she spoke for him) means he went through the Fifth Kalpa of the Labyrinth of Amala, therefore making the True Demon path, the "canon" path.
The DLC IS called “Return of the true demon”, sort of implying that this version of Demifiend is not one to fuck with.
This is the SMTV equivalent of "Dormammu, I've come to bargain."

Fun Fact, I was inspired to pick back up a solo challenge I started a long time ago from vids like yours, and I managed to solo Shiva on hard on NG! Without needing to go to NG+. Unfortunately as I'm not a content creator and i was mainly doing the challenge just for me, so I couldn't record the whole fight, but got the last couple of turns recorded on my phone.

Basically the core of my strategy was very similar to yours! However there 5 main things I attribute to being able to do it on NG, which are as follows:
1. Mother Harlots Essence.
2. Being able to get Boon boost EX by fusing Beelzebub in the COMP, and rolling his level up until he gave me his essence.
3. A unique interaction I think I've found with muscle drinks.
4. Going for complete offense over defensive skills.
5. Exploiting the A.I to make things as predictable as possible, including making Ananta's heal completely predictable and timbale.
(Apologies for the long essay you are about to receive but I'll try and detail everything as best I can!)
My build and stats were thus:
Stats: Strength 74 Vitality 120 Magic 131 Agility 76 Luck 75
Skills:
Bufubarion,
Zanbarion,
High Ice Plemora,
High wind Plemora,
Luster Candy,
Debilitate,
Boon Boost EX,
High restore,
So, number 1, Mother Harlots essence. It has Repel Phys, Resist Fire and drain elec. So by itself, it covers all of Shiva's damage types. Repel Phys lets you interrupt Ganesha's turns and the Resist Fire is really nice as it means Shiva will go for Maragibarion instead of Megadoleaon sometimes giving you a breather. (As you noted in your vid!)
It also has Null Charm which means muscle drinks have a 1/3 chance to not inflict status on you. This basically gives you all the defensive tools you need without using a skill slot.
However, it does put you on a timer as Ganesha will kill himself eventually, and the strategy falls apart hard when that happens. You can stall some turns on Dakini using charm, but its pretty bad, in my victory you'll see i was at Dakini so just went all in trying to finish Shiva ASAP.
2. Boon Boost Ex is what made this fight doable, basically with both Luster Candy and Debilitate I could keep Shiva debuffed and myself buffed. With both in play, i didn't need to waste a skill slot on increasing my HP from 800 and something to 999. The reduction in damage gave enough time to keep on top of everything for a few cycles before needing to heal with items. Absolutely essential.
3.This is what I think is the most interesting. I can't confirm this as 100% fact, but i think if you use muscle drinks in quick succession, they don't give you a status condition, even if you don't block the status? You know SMTV seems to have a system whereby if you get statused, you're less likely to get statused again? I think that applies to Muscle drink status conditions too.
Now i could be getting insanely lucky and getting charm when I had Mother Harlot's essence every time that happened? But I did some runs with Seigfried's essence to experiment with Drain Phys and I managed to replicate using a muscle drink without obtaining a status, and Seigfried has no status resists!
So I found if you used 4-5ish muscle drinks at the beginning of the fight (Where Shiva will attack with Elec occasionally and heal you.) you start to not get statused when you use them later on, this also has the added benefit of Kali's Fogna's missing more often cause you got so much status? It may be anecdotal, but I had long fights where Kali couldn't hit Fogna and my muscle drinks didn't status me.
4. I used both high Pleroma's to do as much damage as I could to both Shiva and Ananta, with the essences and the debuffs, i didn't need any defensive skills. And with full buffs and debuffs i was doing a lot to Shiva.
5. I found that Shiva's demons only summon Ananta on turns where they debuff you, never when attacking or inflicting status. Also when Ananta is summoned I found a way to consistently get 3 turns before she'd heal on the 4th.
Once she's summoned, I think she checks to see if Shiva has a Sukukaja applied. If he does, she will heal, regardless of turn. However, if he does or is debuffed, she will ALWAYS use Sukukaja the first move she makes, the go for a heal on the next.
So when she's summoned the order goes like this:
-Turn 1 Ganesha hits with a phys attack and ends turn.
-Turn 2 Ananta checks if Shiva has a sukukaja buff, if no, buffs him.
-Turn 3 Ganesha hits with a phys attack and ends turn.
-Turn 4 Ananta goes to heal Shiva.
So you can always control when the heal is coming, that way you can maximise the turns you have before she does it rather than going for Ananta in a mad panic whenever she shows up. Once I got into this rhythm, this was 100% consistent.
One final interesting thing is I think this can be done with Seigfrieds essence too, you can swap out the Plemoras with Resist Fire and Resist Elec. It makes the fight much slower, but you have Drain Phys instead of repel so no time limit on Ganesha! Also having both Resists makes Shiva do Maziobarion and Maragibarion over Megadoleaon which is nice as it means you need to heal less.
I'll stop now as that's plenty on info to be getting on with! Other than that it was a lot of luck and retries and hoping things didn't go wrong... Status was still a problem, missing Ananta, mis-timing buffs etc. But it is possible!

Amazing work on beating the Demifiend without demons. 33:58 Yep, RUclips is weird like that when vids go viral. It's great your channel is gaining more recognition. I saw it mentioned in other comments too, more Luck might've decreased the chances of insta-kill further but in the end it didn't matter. Like many of Atlus' superbosses there's a lot of scripting to understanding how to beat the boss, I remember getting one-shotted by Demifiend and I just noped out of there 😅

Let me bestow to you my knowledge of the demi fiend fight, as I have done enough ng+ cycles to maximize every stat to 999 😃 it took 94 ng+ cycles. I find that the better affinity to use would be dakini’s essence because it resists physical which in turn means demi fiend will continue to use his physical moves because he can still damage you with them, but since you resist physical he can never crit you like he can with freikugel. You also nullify seal so even though he’s spamming javelin raine he can never seal you. Having high luck will allow you to recover from status ailments quicker so poison isn’t that hard to deal with. The only downside is that you’re weak to light but you can cover that pretty easily.
Another reason you would prefer that he doesn’t use freikugel is that after using it 6 times he will use chaotic will. Nullifying physical in this fight turns into a pretty bad idea when he’s spamming his insta kill move. Preferably you’ll only want to deal with it on his 25% health phases, so really it’s a better idea to resist physical and not nullify.
With all that being said, it’s not actually that hard to solo demi fiend… as long as you have 400+ vitality it can only get easier from there lol.

In my experience I enjoyed more SMTV after finishing Nocturne, there are few references to events of that game or as a easter eggs that makes the game more interesting to explore.
When SMT5 V announced that you could use balms in bulk, I immediately thought of this video and am convinced that Atlus made that change just for this reason
