You would think after years of technology and use in the News/Sports and Movie Industry we would have better equipment than seen here. UAS are so far advanced you can program their flight and operational functions. I would bet my Phantom 4 is as good if not better than the quad-copter shown here.
Perhaps these UAS are more rugged and also have communications equipment that is harder to jam? Terrorists / "freedom fighters" use tons of consumer drones, because they are throw-away inexpensive (and often more technologically advanced!) comparing to the military grade equipment. As long as there is no jamming, DJI Phantoms work spectacularly well for reconnaissance. That is why jamming them is such a high priority for US troops in the middle east.
If your looking at the UAS they are showing it's easy to tell it's not more rugged. I doubt if its carrying any anti jamming equipment. At best it's a trainer, just looking at the camera tells you a lot.
You may well be right. But how would you tell a secure data link from the ordinary WiFi just from this video? Of course, mass produced stuff can't be beat for what you get per dollar. DJI is absolutely awesome. This UAS here costs mind-boggling $250K per system, and $35K for just the plane itself. I would hope it at least includes secure communications and military grade GPS, and the weatherproofing to the mil standards. But other than that, it is a pretty boring RC plane.
Lol yes that over priced, I was mostly referring to the quadcopter . That plane still is crazy, 250K? Dang! 35 K for just the plane? Uncle Sam is getting ripped off! I could buy a ducted fan or real jet motor RC plane for 25K.
TransWing is the way of the future. It makes possible to fly fast and far, like an airplane, yet, when necessary, fold the wing into a compact drone-like vehicle!
How do I get into this??? I’m a reservist and an FAA certified drone pilot and I want to do it for the Marine Corps.
Did you ever do it?
Very neat I like them
What is the MOS for this/
Drones get shot out of the sky but marines don't die without permission. Stay successful forever!
