Y'all need to stop bullying Uncle Larry. Thank You for this informative video. Also thank you for keeping me safe as a U.S. Citizen, 7 years old during the gulf war, during your storied and brave service. I vouch for Larry. Let's explore how forgiveness and kindness work together as Christian values, under the context of clearing Larry's name Guys.
I was in the IDF in the mid 1980s. The Galil was among the weapons we learned. It's true that it was very simple to maintain; very easy to take down, cleans easily and reassembles very quickly. My main complaint was that it was kind of front heavy and I had to consciously keep the barrel from dropping down. The carbine version less so.
I had a Galil AR first and a Galil SAR second as a service rifle. I was very impressed about the weapon. Very reliable in dirt and mud. Only remember one major mishab when a blanck got stuck in the barrel and couldn't unload it after a week of survival camp. Would't say it was a heavy weapon. Now I use AK4 and it is much more uncomfortable in service/battle situation.
Thanks, LAV. I saw a lot of the Galil in Colombia when we trained their non-SOF guys. Of course, the Colombian SOF eventually got the M4 as their primary weapon - I never saw a Galil with them.
Had an IMI parts kit built by m13 recently. Freaking amazing rifle. It’s solid unit, but it’s hefty. With the weight, felt recoil is just so smooth and enjoyable to shoot. Accurate too with the new barrel I got from apex. It’s my go to rifle durring this corona virus scare Incase things get worse and people go to stage 2 panic mode.
I had one about 5-7 years ago as my 2nd rifle purchase but I ended up selling it due to a gas problem. When the shells were ejected the slide would catch them. I unfortunately needed money so I sold it but since then I regretted it. Though thankfully recently I was able to acquire all the necessary parts aside from night sights. I’m getting this new one built properly and I won’t be selling it. Love this rifle.
Nice video! Correction - most IDF troops always preferred the Galil rifle over the long M16 (nick named 'the broomstick') for two main reasons: first like you've mentioned it was way more reliable and robust than the M16. Second: the folding stock made it a lot easier carry it around and to travel home on a leave (IDF soldiers always keep their service weapons at any time, and get to go home when not on duty - keep in mind that Israel is so tiny that traveling anywhere is a short trip). In 1992 the IDF started to phase out the Galil's from the Infantry units, and by 2004 completely replaced the beloved Galil with M16's and M4's, reason was mostly cost effective, Israel uses the US aid to purchase American arms - it's part of the deal I guess. thanks for the video!
This rifle always reminds me of the game Counterstrike Condition Zero and the upper version. It's the cheapest option in automatic terrorist rifle, and it's the best cost-effectiveness, so it's my favorite gun over AK when I'm a terrorist. In addition, it has 35 round magazine, making it more competitive with 30 rounds conventional automatic rifles.
Larry, I should have added, to my earlier post, started with rather, Thank You so VERY much for your service to our beloved country, can't say that enough. (It took me till September 11th, to finally "man up", and enlist, but by then, I was told "your too old", at 38) So God Bless you brother, thanks for protecting our loved ones. And, thanks so very much for these great videos, they've really been fantastic. I guess I'm just a little "too" Galil crazy. (Nah, ya' can't be!!) thanks for the Galil video too!!!
Would love a peek inside Larry's gun safe or room! Maybe a brief rundown of some of the favs or rare items he undoubtedly owns! Loving the vids and keep em coming!
I've served in the IDF in the earlly 80's,gone through M16 and Gallil.True, the M16 is much lighter, but thats the only edge on the Gallil wich is much more reliable in hursh conditions
Larry, you’re looking good brother. Looks like you’ve lost a substantial amount of weight. As always, great video. We all appreciate you bringing us these weapons.
Thank you Larry and team for these awesome videos. The slow mo is my favorite part!!! Cannot wait for the new Vickers Guide. Y'all knocked it out of the park with the other 3!
Guatemala has a lot of galils in their military... it's nice to shoot but not to carry. Just like the FN-FAL or HK-G3 (Salvador has a bunch of those)...
the Galil used more in SA or south america Estonia also adopted the Galil as their 5.56 infantry arm. It is a dependable Weapon mostly was issued to some reservist, every pound counts for a soldier if you can get a weapon that 2-3 lbs lighter you can carry that much more ammo
5E-CB-B9 btw Karl Marx was a practicing Christian convert you fuckin moron trotsky was killed off by Stalin and lenin died so your points are moot communism is quite clearly based on atheism you fuckin idiot so if you can find 2 or 3 Jews in the Bolsheviks revolution congrats you've proved nothing since none of these people are practicing and have all disavowed their religions
5E-CB-B9 you have alot of blind hate turn off whatever leftist propaganda your listening too and the ship bombing Israel has been apologizing for the past 40 years and has paid millions in restitution to the families, when your surrounded by enemies with land the size of new jersey nukes are a must and the world realizes that's why a blind eye was turned to Israeli nukes, and current events back up that sentiment, I think its hilarious how you spew this garbage yet try to claim the moral high ground especially with that Nazi propaganda picture. And you clearly are a degenerate by spouting off these propaganda lies that have been used by every anti Jew organization since the Nazis and now the Palestinian, whom I said you support because that's what most anti semites do. And the assumptions of my religion just continues to prove your biases, and in what way did us wars and the uprising of Iranian influence do to those wars help Israel? I didn't know a regional apocalypse was beneficial to israel, I suggest you take a long hard look at your belief system it might do you some good
Oh, I remember as a kid, my dad buddies from his shooting club bought this rifle in the 80's and it was the closest you can get to actually see something like an AK in those days. Weird, I also remember that the empty cases had a huge dent in the case body. Don't know why I remember that tiny fact😂
I personally think that the United States Special Forces would be better off being armed with the Israeli Galili ARM especially in caliber 6.5 mm grendel. You know that an Israeli Galili ARM is a lot lighter than a fully loaded Thompson submachine gun or a Browning Automatic Rifle. Gee! I really wonder how were the Rangers who successfully climb the cliff at Pointe Du Huc Normandy able to do that without lightweight M-16 rifles.???
I'll be very impressed LAV once you hit your BC weight :). Congrats on the weight loss and thanks for sharing the Galil. Had the pleasure of shooting the GALIL AR and ARM FA and they sure are great to shoot.
I carried the Galil for 3 years and the M16 for another 3 during my service in the IDF. I found that the M16 was the more reliable system. Apart from the poor ergonomics and relative inaccuracy of the Galil, the top cover and the safety would come loss quickly. The finish on the gun wore off fast and the gun would rust. And overall it seems to me that the system is not as sealed as the M16's. I had multiple jams every day and I did not trust the weapon. I went through several examples throughout my service. I hadn't a single jam with my M16. Not one. of course, as you said, the weight was also an issue.
Y'all need to stop bullying Uncle Larry.

Such a good looking rifle, I have to get an ARM in the future to couple with my AR.
Buy an ak 105 ore 74 i know you are american and you support your guns but i'm sure you will have fun
You have a Galil?
I got my own airsoft Galil SAR replica from CYMA.
@@Raul-ns5up I mean a real Galil in 5.56. But how is it I’m thinking of getting one

Most underrated rifle in history.
Thanks, LAV. I saw a lot of the Galil in Colombia when we trained their non-SOF guys. Of course, the Colombian SOF eventually got the M4 as their primary weapon - I never saw a Galil with them.
In my time in Columbia they used the galil. I preferred it in the jungle to the m4. Jungles are not forgiving
The regular army still uses the Galil. I can't foresee an early change since it's worked as expected
Youre lookin fit, Larry! I need to get on board with that haha. Sweet video dude.
The sound in this video is outstanding. The sounds of this gun are music to my ears. Beautiful. Thanks for this video.
My weapon in the South African army from 1985-1986, I still love looking at it online.
Wonderful gun...
Neurolicious you evidently have no appreciation for history or firearms if you don’t have a single shred of amazement at this gun.
Neurolicious and you say that because?

I wish IWI would make traditional Galils again. I would definitely buy one. Had access to an IDF SAR when I was in the service. FUN!

glad you included that detailed design description. I rarely ever hear people say Valmet had anything to do with the design of the galil

Some years ago I had to pick Galil or Israeli FAL... I took the FAL.. both are fun to shoot but a pain in the ass to carry.
Private sector, Israel sold tons of them around 1998...they went from PSC's to the individual and everything in between.
Guatemala has a lot of galils in their military... it's nice to shoot but not to carry. Just like the FN-FAL or HK-G3 (Salvador has a bunch of those)...
