What's even harder to believe is how uncompromising it is. It has all the attributes you expect from a Range Rover: the commanding driving position, a luxurious interior, practical cabin, brilliant ride, but the SVR turns performance up to 12.
With a supercharged 542bhp, 5.0-litre V8 engine and a raft of mechanical and dynamic changes to accompany the extra horsepower, it is an absolute beast.
So what other heavyweights can we line this up against to test its mettle?
With 1100bhp and 4100lb ft of torque, Dave Jenkins' MAN TGX D26 five-tonne racing truck might just do the business.

Take note TopGear, this is how you do "wacky" match-ups...
Its ridiculous doing a standing start with a 2.3 tonne Range Rover SVR which has 4x4 against a truck with ludicrous amounts of torque but is only RWD and hardly any weight over them! Why wasnt this done as a rolling start?? Obviously the truck was going to break something with all that torque - I'm impressed it was only a torque arm! Its a great spectacle to see and well worth running again but at least with rolling starts.

These trucks are probably better through the corners than the SVR as well right?
No, SVR has torque vectoring by braking. They may be faster around certain corners
It´s still a heavy ass truck. It probably gets beaten by the car. But that it can even hang with it is impressive.
But it can pull your house, thats the difference,,
I'm not so sure though, the truck will have race spec suspension as well as tyres for the track.

Interesting exercise!?! Don't suppose your average SVR owner, if such a person exists, will come up against one of these machines very often!
if u went back to 1992 and the era that saw the mighty 18 litre V10 twin turbo Mercedes-Benz 1450s with ZF auto gearbox race around the tracks of Europe that would've been a different story....they had 1800hp and 0-100MPH was around 10 secs!

Truckers like truck racing. It´s that simple. Every gearhead likes to push his/her vehicle to the limit and beyond. Saying it´s stupid is kinda like saying racing itself is stupid.
+Josh Briggs By that logic no other racing class should exist apart from F1 as the rest is all slower or "inferior". it doesnt matter how crap a vehicle is if the other vehicles in that class are just as crap you get an awesome race

+Audiwan Kenobi Lol that is exactly what I meant. The guy chose a crappy vehicle that can't put power down and weights too much for its own good. That is why he needs a new vehicle, which can put power down and doesn't weight twice what a Range Rover weights.
