I just wish JLR had tuned the exhaust to sound a bit more rumbly than they did, but the S63 and S68 have always sounded a bit like a 4-cylinder more than a V8. At least they make up for it in outright power.
The new SVR is definitely better but best to buy a second hand one at £80,000 as you will need the other £80k for insurance. Beautiful vehicle, if only you could keep it long enough to even enjoy driving it.
@Clarkeyrules1 Tell THAT very important piece of information to the insurance companies. As it makes no difference if you are a multi millionaire if the insurance company says NO!! For me, I can get a quote to insure a Bugatti but they just said NO to a Range Rover....

Great video! We just did a comparrison video but wasnt able to do drag race unfortunately. Take launch control out of it and there really isnt much difference. For the extra cost, this really should out perform the SVR better than it does.
in the rolling race, the SVR was in the dynamic mode setting. It is significantly faster and responsive in the gearbox than the comfort setting from my experience. The sport mode on the gear selector only lets it rev higher, but dynamic mode definitely puts down power faster with the torque, gearbox ect.
Amazing video Matt!! One mistake all reviewers make is that the new SV uses BMW M5 CS which is not true.. The true fact is, it uses the S68 engine used in the 2024 bmw X5m/x6m comp LCI, which had the mild hybrid system I would love to see a comparison between the SV and the X5M comp LCI🙏
How unfair! Whenever Matt loses the first race he goes for another go and whenever he wins he doesn’t give another mighty chance to the opponent. Matt always got some excuses to give for another go.

If you’re playing top trumps the new one is better, but I think a lot of people will be disappointed when they get their hands on the none limited models when they come through. Especially at the price point it’s at.
Could you guys position the camera guy for the break test in a way that there is no turning of the camera by the time they start to brake? Would make for a much more interesting angle to see the car squatting down.
The older 5.0 Supercharged motors launch better by no brake torque and just slamming the throttle. I tested this extensively with my XF. Went from a 12.7 to a 12.4 in the quarter.
So no one is going to talk about the test being in comfort vs dynamic mode? This is the issue with CarWow they tend to adjust things to fit the script they want to write for their videos.
Mat, I remember your old video where you raced this Range Rover Sport SVR against turbo charged Germans, and the svr lost badly. Please make a new race with bmw x5m, merc g63, and the new Range Rover sv :)
Do a drag race between Ferrari SF90 Stradale vs Fiat 500 (or similar), and see how much you can give head start and still catch it before quarter mile. I´d watch it.
Here is what i think. The new SV has this cool thing with its suspension and the old one slants aggresively. I think the old SVR slant kills its acceleration rate cause of drag from slanting. Noticed how the new SV doesnt slant and those clean curves help it to keep pulling. And i think the new SV is slightly lower than the old SVR.
That’s crazy how much faster the 4.4 is, despite being 175 kilos heavier. Huge price difference too - how on earth do they justify such a ridiculous price difference?

The facelifted SVR has a quieter sound than the original.
This is the facelift version thats why. So its muffled

The reaction in comfort mode is not from the transmission but the effect of the supercharger that is in operation from the beginning RPM

The SVR was in dynamic setting when doing the 50mph rolling race while the SV was in normal so the throttle response was better in the SVR

When that new range Rover took off I was already thinking, "Matt can you have it with the Urus and Porsche SUVs and maybe an X5 M Competition."

A couple easy changes VELOCITY TUNE ..... will keep you close and if remapped correectly ahead of the beemer under 3K
