Færeyska söngkonan og Íslandsvinurinn Eivör Pálsdóttir er stödd tímabundið á Íslandi og kíkti að því tilefni í Stúdíó 12 með kassagítarinn í hönd og sína óviðjafnanlegu rödd. Hún sendi nýverið frá sér nýja plötu sem nefnist Segl og flutti hún efni af henni í bland við gamalt og eina ábreiðu.
Eivör Pálsdóttir hefur verið stödd á Íslandi síðustu daga þar sem hún er að vinna að tónlistarmyndböndum fyrir plötuna sína. Það var hins vegar ekki eins einfalt og hún er vön að komast hingað til lands frá Kaupmannahöfn þar sem hún er búsett. „Þetta er búið að vera challenge því það er ekki auðvelt að ferðast. Síðast þurfti ég að koma siglandi og fara fyrst frá Danmörku til Færeyja í sóttkví í tvær vikur,“ segir söngkonan í samtali við Ólaf Pál Gunnarsson í Stúdíó 12. Hún hefur þurft að fara í tvö COVID-próf á stuttu ferðalaginu og segir hún að þau séu ekki eins hér á landi og Færeyjum. „Það er mjög vont á Íslandi, þau fara upp í nefið. Í Færeyjum er þetta bara smá kitl í hálsinn.“
Síðan platan kom út hefur Eivör haldið nokkra tónleika heima í stofu sem hún hefur svo streymt á vefnum og voru útgáfutónleikar hennar líka rafrænir. Oftast syngur hún bæði á ensku en líka á færeysku og segir hún að það geri ekkert til þó meirihluti hlustenda skilji ekki textann en hún á aðdáendur um allan heim. „Fólk kann að meta að heyra tungumál sem það skilur ekki því þá hlustar maður aðeins öðruvísi.“
Af tónlistarmönnum sem hafa haft áhrif á Eivöru nefnir hún Kate Bush, Radiohead, Portishead og Nick Cave sem eru þeir listamenn sem hún hlustaði mest á tæplega tvítug. „Þetta er blanda af elektró og þjóðlagatónlist sem hefur haft mikil áhrif en fyrir hverja plötu er maður að reyna að gera eitthvað nýtt,“ segir hún.

Tim Buckley’s original singing of this, which was his song, was the best. But This Mortal Coil was very good.
I'm old enough to remember Tim Buckleys original acoustic version which was really beautiful. All the re-interpretations over the years have also been great but it's hard to beat the original.

Tim Buckley changed that line, because when he played the song to his producer's wife, she pissed herself laughing at that line. I think she was quite correct to do so. "I'm as puzzled as a newborn child" just sounds WAY better.
