I interrupted a dinner between Abbie Cornish and Ryan Phillippe once to tell her how much I loved her in that movie and as soon as I mentioned the word Candy they both really warmed up.

I love this song anyway but this cover of it is my absolute favourite. It is so moving with the strings etc... Moreso now after Heath’s tragic and untimely passing. What a loss to the acting world and film loving public as he was such a fantastic talent. He and Abbie Cornish superbly bring life to this book by Luke Davies doing it a wonderful service which isn’t easy. I bought the DVD soundtrack of the film just to own a hard copy of a recording of this wonderful song. I’m so glad I did. R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

Candy is one great movie. I just thought I'd mention that this song was written in Los Angeles in 1967. Tim Buckley wrote the music, and gave that to his lyricist who wrote all the lyrics one morning. Apparently they all came to him in no time, within an hour. Buckley eventually released this song in 1971 and it's been covered by countless artists. This version (though short since it deletes a whole verse) and This Mortal Coil's version from their 1st release in 1984 are both very strong. Enjoy.

As good as this movie was, the book is amazing. (Candy by Like Davies). The movie, gem that it already is, cut out a lot of the best bits, and a lot of the exposition and sacrificed the (even greater) tragic, beautiful, unsettling impact it could have had. I get why they did it, and I’m grateful we got the movie we did, but read the book if you possibly can. It will have you hilariously disgusted at times, and other times you’ll have a hard time telling between tears of laughter or heartbreak. It just hits different from the movie. To anyone with a loved one going through opioid addiction, it may give you some perspective and some answers. Caution to those who have moved past the opioid addiction life-severe trigger warning. (Also, I think this is my 2nd favorite version of this song; first place goes to Buckley singing it on the Monkees tv show).

I, as one of his closest friends, have been asked by his estate to sustain his online presence. You're right; he did have exquisite taste in everything, apart from footwear. I remember he would turn up to meetings, with his sham otter in tow, wearing an immaculate vintage suit, tailored silk shirt and wearing a pair of blue Kickers. He once turned up to a funeral wearing beige, tasseled moccasins. I don't know a lot about music, my speciality is quantum fluid dynamics, but i can confirm one thing, this track is absolute dog shit.
