Nathan Algren dude Toriyama is a horrible writer. His stories are generally rewritten eastern folklore, each arc is predictable and he “forgets” characters. Dude peeked in the frieza saga.
Nathan Algren all the arcs in dbz follow the same formula. All the fighters assemble, weaker ones stall/ get killed (kirllin, Tien Yamaha). Stronger ones win for a little bit (pic, gohan, trunks) second fiddle shows off new glow but amounts to nothing (vegeta) goku saves the day. Though the reasons may vary through different arcs, dbz generally follows this pattern. Even when gohan killed cell goku was right next to him (spirit but still). I say he’s a horrible writer cause his show/manga has generally condemned any character that isn’t sayian. The humans, namekes, w/e tien is, have no real shot of beating anyone relevant. Dragon ball wishes will always be for stupid shit (pantes, food, frieza getting taller) constantly forgetting/changing established lore, and again predictable outcomes.

I'm glad the manga is getting far ahead of what the anime will be I really hope they redo Broly and expand toriyamas 3 hour script to give Toyotaro even more time to get ahead. The further ahead the manga is the more material the anime has to work with
The Broly's script was written 100% by Toriyama, so it's fully canon both to the anime and to the manga, and does not need to be remade. Same reason as of why Toyotaro "skipped" the RoF arc.

One thing I'd add regarding that first Tweet, Geekdom: it doesn't say that Toyotarou came up with the secret plans for the new character: it says Toriyama did, and that Toyotarou's attributing those ideas to Toriyama. You're definitely right that the arc is more of a collaboration, though, since, among other things, Toyo did design Moro himself
I really like Toyo. It’s pretty clear how devoted he is to DB. Sure he has a ways to go with anatomy when it comes to his posing and illustrations, and his panels aren’t as artful as Toriyama’s, but the heart and the creativity is certainly there. I think he was dealt a crappy hand when it came to parts of the future trunks arc and the TOP. I think he was facing a harsh timeline, with his superiors probably wanting him to catch up to the anime, which isn’t realistic. It’s painfully obvious that the manga TOP was compressed and rushed out of his control. This is all head cannon, but I believe it to be true. Now that he can actually do what he wants with the story, and isn’t competing with the anime or following the blue prints of a movie, he’s doing an amazing job 👍🏻

Now that both the Moro and Granolah arcs are finished, I’m actually happy that Toriyama has given Toyotaro more freedom with coming up with both the story and new characters because with how cluttered Super was from BoG-ToP, you could tell that Toriyama was kinda like “fuck it” and didn’t really care but Toyotaro seems like he’s more passionate with the series and has definitely improved a lot over the years. At the end of the day, Toyotaro is a Dragon Ball fan like all of us that was given the huge responsibility of carrying on Toriyama’s legacy and I for one and 100% behind him and support/root for Toyotaro to succeed 😌
Toyotaro seems like a real cool dude, he’s basically a fan like the rest of us that was given the opportunity to step into the role of continuing Dragon Ball and working along side Toriyama himself. The fact that he has an addiction to collecting the SH Figuarts Dragon Ball figures makes me relate to him because I’m the same way 😂

That's some interesting fun facts about Toyotaru's ideas for concepts. Also I already know that Toriyama's grooming him to be the next successor, but I don't mind it at all, just as long as "that person" understands Dragon Ball and the lore around it.
He probably could have, however they probably didnt want the dragon balls to be connected to someone who was involved in the battles all the time. Well, atleast Piccolo was alot more during that period. Plus, Piccolo had no interest in being Earths guardian and since Kami fused with him they needed a new one anyway so they probably just thought itd be easier having Dende be the guardian as well as the power behind the Dragonballs.
Glad to have watched this video. And still enjoying the Moro arc so far. Wonder how it’s going to look when this gets adapted to the anime. I agree that Moro wouldn’t be the type of a person that’ll turn over a new leaf and become a ally. Glad that was debunked. I thought it was great on Toyotaro’s part for designing Merus as a pretty boy with a bob haircut look.
I think being able to create his own arc without the anime doing it first was really helpful here. Because as far as I've seen so far, nothing that he has done has been as good as the anime (which blows because I was really hoping it would be even better writing/story wise). But this arc really has my interest, and had kept my interest the whole time. The only mishap so far in my opinion with this arc was Moro's third wish, and it's already bounced back from that
It would be such a shame to not adapt this arc into the anime once it comes back. The reception of this arc has been overwhelmingly positive, and it has been better than any other Super arcs by far.

@Manvëru Exactly: even on the cover of each and every volume of the manga itself, it says "story by Toriyama, art by Toyotaro". While Toyotaro inevitably adds stuff to connect Toriyama's plot points, it's obvious that he still considers him as the actual "mind" behind most of the story.

Torotaro does what ever he wants to get there, even in the interview torotaro literally has a character even Toriyama has no idea about. In older interviews torotaro has stated that Toriyama rarely gives him input, he just approves it anyway.

Dude... Toyotaro has ALWAYS been the guy. Toriyama hand picked him to be his successor & has been relatively hands-off. This has been made clear in all the interviews...that I've learned from _your videos_ lol What it seems like for the Moro arc though is that Toyotaro has been given even more leeway. You mentioned Dragon Gero Lee [or however it's spelled, I've only heard it spoken...by you again lol] but I wanna take it one step further. There should be 3 Manga writer/artists [Toyo, DGL, & one more] plus a couple other writers [including at least one person from Toei] who form a "core team". Together, they develop the story & future of Dragon Ball- including fleshing out any notes from Toriyama. They can also keep track of the "lore"°. Anyway... They develop an arc together, then each manga creator goes & does their thing [so like, Toyotaro starts on chapter 1, DGL on chapter 2, & the other one on chapter 3]. This way, we have consistent releases. Also, since Toei is involved with the trust, we see more consistency between manga & anime. I know this may seem sacrilegious to some fans, but we gotta be real. For one thing, Dragon Ball is a huge behemoth & now requires this level of care & attention. For another, Toriyama's old workflow was TERRIBLE & clearly burnt him out. And finally, Super has some dope things about it, but overall was kinda meh. Broly was the best thing about it & that had what I'm giving here: Lore & production time.

In 1987 a man by the name "William Ross" founded a company in Japan called Fronteir Enterprises. They helped dubbed foreign products with the help of native english speakers that lived in Japan. It's rumored that they dubbed the first Dragon Ball movie. And presumbaly the the show as well. According to a website that belonged to a person who worked for the company confirmed that they actually worked on Dragon Ball related media but he was not specific. Its unknown if they actually got to dubbing the show and its unknown they had Toeis approval. It was rumored to be shown on Tokyo Airlines and information about this dub is scarce. Lost media is unsettling and scary. I mean no shit. Apperently everyone that worked on Fronteir Enterprises are either dead or have no internet presence whatsoever or don't remember it at all. To be honest they couldn't make a movie with so many chapters without having to make multiple films because there is so much to this arc and is also still not even close to being finished so I doubt this arc could be adapted to a movie. If it even happens at all.
It's weird that Goku and Vegeta have taken a break from fighting Moro to go train, while Moro continues his path of destruction. I wonder if the next arc will be about gathering the super dragon balls to make a wish that'll undo Moro's damage?

Once Super gets SSJ4, then I'll agree. It will get SSJ4, it's too popular and was set up with the Broly movie. Broly channeling the power of the great ape without having a tail allows for all of them to turn SSJ4 without having tails. And the fact that Broly is going to train with Goku (and thus Vegeta as well), I'm sure Broly will attain SSJ4, followed by Goku then Vegeta.

Toyotaro becoming more involved in the creative process gives me faith that one day we'll see an official "AF" GT continuation. To think that out of all the fan manga artists that have existed/exist, they picked him up. I remember when Toyble bid his final farewells on his liveblog with an illustration of Beat from DB Heroes. I don't know if he'll ever become the face of the "canon" series, but I could see him being allowed to do his own thing with GT. Dragonball is expanding and more and more they seem to be drawing from the well of their old ideas. What I love about Toyotaro, is that he will do things that Toriyama would never do, for both designs and story. Sometimes good sometimes not, but I don't think I loved everything that happened in the original manga either. Wishful thinking I know, but I'd like to see it happen. It would add to that Toyotaro success story. He's definitely inspired me as a fan and an artist.

He probably could have, however they probably didnt want the dragon balls to be connected to someone who was involved in the battles all the time. Well, atleast Piccolo was alot more during that period. Plus, Piccolo had no interest in being Earths guardian and since Kami fused with him they needed a new one anyway so they probably just thought itd be easier having Dende be the guardian as well as the power behind the Dragonballs.

You misread the first part. Toyotaro is saying that *Toriyama* came up with the unrevealed secret about one of the new characters.
Maybe this is Tori passing the torch to Toyo. Or maybe this is a test to see if he can manage the Dragon Ball story on his own?
Glad to have watched this video. And still enjoying the Moro arc so far. Wonder how it’s going to look when this gets adapted to the anime. I agree that Moro wouldn’t be the type of a person that’ll turn over a new leaf and become a ally. Glad that was debunked. I thought it was great on Toyotaro’s part for designing Merus as a pretty boy with a bob haircut look.
I think being able to create his own arc without the anime doing it first was really helpful here. Because as far as I've seen so far, nothing that he has done has been as good as the anime (which blows because I was really hoping it would be even better writing/story wise). But this arc really has my interest, and had kept my interest the whole time. The only mishap so far in my opinion with this arc was Moro's third wish, and it's already bounced back from that
He made it bad cause he wanted to be different from the anime
It would be such a shame to not adapt this arc into the anime once it comes back. The reception of this arc has been overwhelmingly positive, and it has been better than any other Super arcs by far.
Really hope geekdom meets Toriyama one day.

@Manvëru Exactly: even on the cover of each and every volume of the manga itself, it says "story by Toriyama, art by Toyotaro". While Toyotaro inevitably adds stuff to connect Toriyama's plot points, it's obvious that he still considers him as the actual "mind" behind most of the story.
@Manvëru which is very minor, Toriyama's plot are extremely simple. Toriyama just writes get from point a to point b. Torotaro does what ever he wants to get there, even in the interview torotaro literally has a character even Toriyama has no idea about. In older interviews torotaro has stated that Toriyama rarely gives him input, he just approves it anyway.

Dude... Toyotaro has ALWAYS been the guy. Toriyama hand picked him to be his successor & has been relatively hands-off. This has been made clear in all the interviews...that I've learned from _your videos_ lol
What it seems like for the Moro arc though is that Toyotaro has been given even more leeway.
You mentioned Dragon Gero Lee [or however it's spelled, I've only heard it spoken...by you again lol] but I wanna take it one step further.
There should be 3 Manga writer/artists [Toyo, DGL, & one more] plus a couple other writers [including at least one person from Toei] who form a "core team". Together, they develop the story & future of Dragon Ball- including fleshing out any notes from Toriyama. They can also keep track of the "lore"°.
Anyway... They develop an arc together, then each manga creator goes & does their thing [so like, Toyotaro starts on chapter 1, DGL on chapter 2, & the other one on chapter 3]. This way, we have consistent releases.
Also, since Toei is involved with the trust, we see more consistency between manga & anime.
I know this may seem sacrilegious to some fans, but we gotta be real. For one thing, Dragon Ball is a huge behemoth & now requires this level of care & attention. For another, Toriyama's old workflow was TERRIBLE & clearly burnt him out. And finally, Super has some dope things about it, but overall was kinda meh. Broly was the best thing about it & that had what I'm giving here: Lore & production time.

In 1987 a man by the name "William Ross" founded a company in Japan called Fronteir Enterprises. They helped dubbed foreign products with the help of native english speakers that lived in Japan. It's rumored that they dubbed the first Dragon Ball movie. And presumbaly the the show as well. According to a website that belonged to a person who worked for the company confirmed that they actually worked on Dragon Ball related media but he was not specific. Its unknown if they actually got to dubbing the show and its unknown they had Toeis approval. It was rumored to be shown on Tokyo Airlines and information about this dub is scarce. Lost media is unsettling and scary. I mean no shit. Apperently everyone that worked on Fronteir Enterprises are either dead or have no internet presence whatsoever or don't remember it at all. To be honest they couldn't make a movie with so many chapters without having to make multiple films because there is so much to this arc and is also still not even close to being finished so I doubt this arc could be adapted to a movie. If it even happens at all.
It's weird that Goku and Vegeta have taken a break from fighting Moro to go train, while Moro continues his path of destruction. I wonder if the next arc will be about gathering the super dragon balls to make a wish that'll undo Moro's damage?

Once Super gets SSJ4, then I'll agree. It will get SSJ4, it's too popular and was set up with the Broly movie. Broly channeling the power of the great ape without having a tail allows for all of them to turn SSJ4 without having tails. And the fact that Broly is going to train with Goku (and thus Vegeta as well), I'm sure Broly will attain SSJ4, followed by Goku then Vegeta.

Toyotaro becoming more involved in the creative process gives me faith that one day we'll see an official "AF" GT continuation. To think that out of all the fan manga artists that have existed/exist, they picked him up. I remember when Toyble bid his final farewells on his liveblog with an illustration of Beat from DB Heroes. I don't know if he'll ever become the face of the "canon" series, but I could see him being allowed to do his own thing with GT. Dragonball is expanding and more and more they seem to be drawing from the well of their old ideas. What I love about Toyotaro, is that he will do things that Toriyama would never do, for both designs and story. Sometimes good sometimes not, but I don't think I loved everything that happened in the original manga either.
Wishful thinking I know, but I'd like to see it happen. It would add to that Toyotaro success story. He's definitely inspired me as a fan and an artist.
