In this interview, James Charles King relates his experiences in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He recalls his childhood and early education. He describes his college career and entry into the Army as well as his basic training. His unit was in training while the movie “The Green Berets” was being filmed at Fort Benning. He gives his first impressions upon landing in Vietnam, including the sight of coffins and body bags being loaded onto a C-141 Starlifter. He details his duties and experiences in country. He recalls experiences he had with protesters upon returning home. He describes his post-war education, career and family.
