@sean williams This is a decades-old argument, but part of the problem with the Gundams is they were not very well categorized. If you think about it, you have one dedicated to heavy ranged firepower (Heavyarms), one that can transform _strictly for a gimmick_ (Wing), four that focus on _different styles of_ melee combat (Deathscythe, Sandrock, Shenlong and Wing), and then one that can predict the future (Wing ZERO). The Wing's biggest issue was it couldn't pull off what would be corrected the following series with the Gundam X/Gundam Double X: the Buster Rifle. That thing was sooooo damn _overpowered_ that the writers of _Gundam W_ had to scramble to find every excuse they could to either put the Wing itself out of commission or have it lose the Buster Rifle somehow every single episode it appeared in. (All of this, of course, goes doubly for the Wing ZERO and its Twin Buster Rifle.) So, once you have the meta reason for eliminating the Buster Rifle... what exactly does the Wing itself do-? Its Vulcan Guns are not particularly potent against other MS (though the larger collar-mounted Machine Cannons are, but of limited ammo), and _one_ Beam Saber in the Shield. This doesn't just put the Wing _on par_ with what Sandrock and Deathscythe bring to the table, if anything it's _weaker_ for it! Perhaps the only advantage the Wing/ZERO offers compared to the other four is its range of operations because of its Bird Mode, _but then_ once it gets there... its options are quite limited. Sandrock has the best ranged firepower of the three dedicated melee-oriented Gundams, but also the better brute strength and armor, as well as the only _physical_ melee weapons. Its only real weakness is the pilot is a peace-seeker (but thankfully not a pacifist!), and so does not fight _as ferociously_ as the other four do. Deathscythe can cloak, and... that's it. It has a pair of Vulcan Guns and nothing else. The Beam Scythe is potent and the largest beam blade in Operation Meteor's arsenal, yes, but at the end of the day unless it gets _really close_ to its targets, IMO Deathscythe is actually the _weakest_ of the five Gundams in terms of potential. Shenlong shoots fire, and has long arms. Wooptie doo. The mid-season Altron upgrade actually does it a favor by adding paired Twin Beam Cannons, but beyond that, it does not wholly outweight the other two melee-oriented Gundams in potential _despite_ having higher agility and flexibility. I can say this confidently, but _Gundam 00_ is by far the better refinement of the concepts that _W_ attempted, because it is officially a remake of it. In that show, the Gundams (Exia, Dynames, Kyrios and Virtue) and their successors/upgrades each have very specific roles and capabilities to match those- effectively reworking the five Gundams from _W_ (transformer with big OP cannon, melee with invisible, melee with strength, melee with agility, ranged firepower) into four Gundams for _00_ (melee, sniper, agile striking, heavy-armor/strength/fire support), and they're usually paired-up to support each other according to the missions they're sent on. While I also like _W's_ Gundam designs (really the _only_ thing I liked about that series, ugh), _00's_ Gundam designs just blatantly do it _better._

@@lock3down26 They actually are avoiding killing the Serpent customs pilot as Heavyarms Kai is using regular physical rounds instead of beam round which would easily shred all the Serpent to piece and killing the Pilots. (All of this, of course, goes doubly for the Wing ZERO and its Twin Buster Rifle.)
So, once you have the meta reason for eliminating the Buster Rifle... what exactly does the Wing itself do-?

What are you whining about?
This was the most pathetic of all gundams. Epyon, deathscythe, and nakato all stomp it
Why you think he's pathetic?
