    Worth the upgrade for me. Just because the food is the same as Economy isn't a deal breaker. More comfortable seats, lounge access, priority boarding and luggage handling are worth it. I rode ANA Premium Economy on the A380 Flying Honu and it was fine (more expensive than JAL PE actually), but JAL looks like a better value. I'll be riding JAL PE later this year.

      Shell seats are fixed back so the seats do not recline but only slide forward, at the same time it will reduce your legroom, it is actually less comfortable and less value

    JAL offer business class lounge access to those who book an economy flex fare as well.

    You are stretching the fact that it has 42" of legroom but forget to tell people when since the seat dont reclune, the seat slide forward, and at the same time you are losing at least 2" of your legroom, so that is not that great, also their entertainment system is one of the worst, it has some really old movies and tv shows, and on top of that, it only has one episode of those tv shows anyway. Their wifi also sucks, they even show it on their wifi instruction card that wifi signals are the strongest when it is flying thru the ocean but not over US, which actually no signal at all for half of the flight, since it took 7 hours for the plane to exit Alaska

    The only issue I have with JAL economy is the hardness of the seats. Flew from Vancouver to Bangkok via Narita airport and my ass was sore for two days…I made sure I used my blanket as a cushion on the return flight…lol….The service on the other hand was exceptional

      hard to make soft seats when space is such a concern go for premuim economy for long haul flights i find them just enough of a comfort for long hual flights.

    One of the most uncomfortable Premium economy I experienced, the seats are really hard. Service surprisingly is not good... disappointed.

    I'm a moderately tall person, so the regular economy is quite tight. On a fairly long slight, like the 16 hour Tokyo-> NY flight, it's absolutely worth the upgrade. The food s better in Business, but it's much more expensive and not worth it to me, unless my company is paying. That said, I find ANA premium economy even better, so if I can find similar prices, I'll choose the ANA flight. On the other hand, JAL goes to some cities like Tokyo->Boston that ANA doesn't. Either one is preferable to any US carrier, even compared to their Business class.

    You mean to tell me, that I will reserve online 'Premium Economy JAL' including going directly to the Sakura Lounge and proceed directly to the plane ✈? What about the costs with Round-trip Premium Economy and is there needed for a 'membership lounge' or not necessary?

    We are flying LAX to Narita. Round trip tix for 2 in PE was going to be $4,100. Rounding tix for 2 in E is $2,000. We went with Economy. We usually fly business when we travel to SE Asia because of the second leg of the trip. This is a direct flight into Tokyo and as the video shows, PE is not much more of a step up for twice the amount. Both PE and E have a 2x4x2 configuration so we can sit together without having a third person, regardless of the class.

      Japanese economy is great value, the extra cost for pe just seems better spent on vacation, I'll spend a little extra for Japanese economy which seems a nice middle ground vs. US carriers at 31"of seat pitch

    Just flown on PE on a 787. It's a bit meh tbh. Food is as economy. Front row has no foot rest which, together with the token recline and unco-operative leg rest, makes for very unhealthy posture, unless you prop a bag in front to put you feet on. Entertainment is dull. Crew bow in and out of the cabins and have fixed smile which, while admirable and not dead behind the eyes, makes you worry for their facial health. Worst of all, there must be some tiny tiny small print somewhere that tells you you're not entitled to lounge access if you fly on a code share airline on a leg of their ticket. Totally disingenuous. The codeshare airline was British Airways, which in comparison has a suprisingly superior product - lounge access notwithstanding. Oh and their crew is more natural - age, size, and attitude wise, which is a bit of a relief!

    • @yo2trader539
      @yo2trader539 4 месяца назад +2

      Codeshare means you're a BA customer and not a JAL customer. Why would you expect to receive the same privileges as JAL customer?

      I flew BKK-HND-JFK on JAL in PE about 4 months ago. Totally agree about the mediocre economy class food, the limited IFE & coldness of the service. I purchased the ticket for the flight from American Airlines, not JAL, as it was quite a bit cheaper. However, I was allowed access to the lounges at BKK & NRT with no problem, in spite of it being a codeshare ticket.
